  1. Unfortunately it fall when we will be heading down to the dragon, so I will not be able to attend this year. I is a really good show and I recommend it to anyone, whether you want to put your call in it or just go walk through.
  2. Welcome to the group, The next run is currently set for Feb 23rd and starts in Burke all the details can be found on the calendar. Hope to see you there.
  3. until
Before the event: Registration: There is a $15.00 registration to attend the event. From there you can add the following prepaid items to your registration package: Welcome Dinner, Dragon Bingo, Brewswap, Farewell Dinner, Grill Badges and several event shirts. All registration items will be picked up at the event. (Click here for a step by step Registration Guide) Registration for the event and pre-paid add ons will open up 9:00am on Friday January 17th 2020. You will be able to sign up for day drives at 9:00am Saturday February 15th 2020. You will only be able to sign up for day drives if you have paid your registration for the event and your order has been processed. Keep in mind, it can take me up to 24 hours to procees your registration and you won't be able to sign up for the day drives till I do that. Day Drives and Events: Individual Volunteers, Clubs and Vendors host different day drives and events each year. Most of these are non pre-paid events. There are a few that your have to paypal the drive leaders in advance. Some of them are free, many of them you just pay for your own meal or the designated activity. You can view these drives/events via the Schedule tab on the top of this page. You can click on each drive/event to get more details. We try to have a "Map" tab on each day drive on the schedule page, so if a drive is full and you would like to do the drive on your own you can print these out and take them to the event. Most events will have a limit. These are due to various reasons. Sometimes it might be due the size of the restaurant, the final destination or just the need to limit the number of MINIs to keep the convoy manageable. These events will usually fill up prior to the MOTD. Please make sure to delete yourself from any drives/events you no longer want to attend to make room for others. Check back often as events and drives are often added up until the last week. You can also become a "fan" of MOTD on Facebook and I'll post up each time we get a new event! Or add your name to get your MOTD News Letter emails HERE. Lodging: Fontana Village is the where the MOTD is based out of and the preferred lodging location for most people. Most folks re-book their rooms at Fontana when they leave the previous year, so you may find that Fontana is sold out when you call. You can ask to put on a wait list. You can also monitor the forums on Motoring Alliance for cancellations or folks looking to share lodging. You can check the Lodging page on this website for other places to stay. Robbinsville,NC is the closest town, followed by Byrson City, NC and Maryville, TN. At the Event: Make sure to stop by the registration room to pick up your Name Badge and other goodies. HERE is the schedule of times that volunteers will be manning the registration room. The registration room in located in the Rec. Hall at Fontana Village. (MAP). Once inside the room, there will be several lines that are sorted by your last name, there you will get your name badge (which is also your ticket into any pre-paid events you purchased) and swag bag, from there you will pass by Bill Connelly and hopefully donate some food or funds for the local food drive and then stop by the Shirt Table if you pre-paid for any event shirts. Inside your swag bag will be a lanyard in which to hang your name badge and schedule card. There will be two large maps of Fontana Village displayed at the Wildwood Grill and General Store. This map will also be in the event guide that is available to download in April. The maps will show where the different events start. Vendor Alley: Will be located in front of the Wildwood Grill / Rec. Hall buildings at Fontana Village. You can check the list HERE towards the end of the year to see what vendors will be at the 2020 MOTD. A friendly tip: Don't overbook yourself. Leave some down time to just relax and take in the mountains and Fontana Village. And if your schedule allows come a day or two early, you'll be glad that you did. Reminders: This is a grassroots event, I personally donate 8 months of each year to hosting this event and then we have a dedicated army of volunteers that all sacrifice a small portion of their MOTD time to help out. So be patient and understanding when you are at the event. The Dragon and the surrounding roads can be dangerous. Please use caution, watch your speed and stay on your side of the yellow line. Please visit our Driving the Dragon page, watch the safety video and sign up for one our Dragon Safety Classes on Wednesday or Thursday.

So I think we are going to go as far a Tazwell, VA (North end of the back of the dragon) on Sunday. Then working our way south exploring some nice roads on our way in Fontana arriving Early afternoon on Monday.

  11. Sounds awesome. I am no help on the meeting, I am more of an enabler than a sponsor
  12. Set of Blizzarks and Rails PPU
  13. the rails are still available, there are no TPMS on the blizzaks
  14. I would say just go to the shop, I did not find a lot of interest yet. Do mention the club when you go
  15. Many of us use the cold winter to do some upgrades to our MINI/Mini. What projects do you have planned. I got these goodies delivered to my doorstep from Britain today. Last year was full drivetrain swap, this year is just a fresh up of the suspension
  16. They did not come with overdrive, always a 4 speed. the gear ratios post 1984 are: 3.647|2.185|1.425|1.000 with the diff ratio changing from 3.105 to 2.76 in 1996. That lower the rpm at highway speeds and reduced noise, but sacrificed torque on twisty roads in lower gears. I can run 65mph down the highway with no issues, the biggest issue you can have is overheating on extended highway driving in the hotter humid summer. That can be corrected fairly cheap with improved water pump, radiator, and if needed a larger pulley to decease the speed the pump spins. James had his re-geared as he drives it on the highway for long distances, and he said being able to cruise at 80 was not worth what he lost where you do your fun driving.
  17. Absolutely, they just have to be 56” tall at least 13 years old, and under 300lbs
  18. We are looking to put on some events during the winter months so we can all get together without being dependent on the weather. A few year ago we had a group outing at Autobahn – Dulles, high speed indoor Go-Kart track, that was a lot of fun. I have done a research and it looks like we could do an outing that would include 3 races (20 Laps) per person and include license, head sock, and whatever else needed for between $50 - $60 a person. It was a lot of fun last time, and could be fun to have a recurring Winter Indoor Kart Championship each year. If you are interested, please comment below. Also please include any suggestion you may have, (would want less races for a cheaper price point, etc…) I look forward to your input, would like to do this mid December or early January
  19. The Pirellis are Pending Pickup
  20. Now that the countryman has moved on I got a lot of accessories to get out of the garage: - Free: Set of Bridgestone Blizzak 225/45R17 on a 5x120 lug pattern. These will only fit gen2 countryman/paceman - $100: MINI locking roof cross rails with key and torque wrench - Free: 3 Pirelli Cinturato P7 205/45r17 88w (higher speed rating) runflats. These are not cheap. Still have good tread, pothole killed the sidewall on the forth and I switched to non-runflats. Buy one and pair then with the item below for a great summer set. - $100: set of OEM 17” black rims with 5x120 lug pattern. Again these only fit gen2 countryman/paceman. One rim has a curb scuff on the lip(in the photo) rest are good, it would danish with a little touch up paint. -$100: VIP custom quad light bar ($289 retail) this is for just the bar you would have to provide your own lights. I have Hella 500 black Magic lights(4) and fresh wiring with switch that can be included for an additional $100 ($200 total) this setup is going for $599 on the site right now.
  21. Thanks Craig looks great
  22. Did you join us for the beltway this year? Please take a moment to complete our quick survey. We value your feedback, and use it the improve this event each year. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2PSHTGH
  23. I will post it as a thread and also on your social media, and see what interest we get.
  24. I have an extra in my order what size and color? I can likely still tweak it
