Let me introduce you to the Tri-state run, with three hours of twisty roads through VA, MD, and WV. 9. We hit the road for the dragon, and in typical Roxy tradition, she tried to sabotage the trip. Two years ago it was blow a tire and tweak a rim three days before leaving. Yesterday was the battery finally giving out. So a 8am made dash to the parts store for a new one. Quick switch, as long as you know how to get the battery out. fired right up, checked the charging system to make sure and all was good. dragon here we come!!!
  10. Nice look, keep up the good work
  11. Looks good, what brand / bulbs did you use?

  16. The short answer is it depends, does your MINI currently have halogen or xenon headlights. If your are asking about changing the headlight assembly to go from a chrome to a black body that is pretty straight forward. If you are talking about switch to a better blub but in the same type (halogen or xenon) this again is pretty straight forward. Lastly if you are looking to upgrade from halogen to xenon this is a bit more effort, but there are kit available the key is you get what you pay for on these kits. If you can clarify the path you are going down we would be happy to go into a bit more detail.
  17. I agree, you can get way better performance at the same price point out of non-runflats. I made the change a few years back. switch to Michelin PS 3+ and have never been happier.
  18. @twakefieldhas it right there is not a lot out on the gen3 for mod tutorials. I did lowering springs on the wife’s countryman (1st gen) and it was all straight forward. Those front end have very little load when the assembly is off the car so you could just have a buddy lean on the top hat and get the pressure off the nut. Not sure the load on a the 3D gen, but you can also pull them then take the assembly with the new springs and have them swap it in. You then do the reinstall. as for alignment. The biggest thing you are going to change is camber, you will need an alignment or new tires as it will eat the inside edge. I marked the bolt in the front strut tower by tracing them with a sharpie, you will be close enough to drive around and to the shop for a new alignment. with previous generations you have to also do adjustable rear control arms at least the tops when you lowered to get the required camber adjustability. @twakefield might be able to answer that with the 3rd Gen.
  19. We will be there, a lot of the regulars and run leaders are there. I know a lot of the run are still going. Should be a lot of fun. We will be in Cabin 628 if you see us enjoying a beverage on the porch in the evening don't hesitate to stop.
  20. All, the lunch is a pack your own (damn covid) the lunch break will be at a park pavilion in sterling. The exact location will be in your packets at the start.
  21. Just go on Amazon and order a front tow hook lisence plate mount. They are like 15 bucks and you don’t have to drill holes in the bumper. Just make sure it is fora 2001 to 2006 mini Or there are several picks parts around Maryland with gen 1s in them just take the mount of one and will be 10 bucks or so.
  22. Yes Sir, we run rain or shine. Just no ice or other safety concerns.
  23. I try to post external events especially those of our neighboring clubs. With everyone looking for summer plans I will be sure to post the ones I find. I know Dale with Hampton Roads MINIs is planning a summer run on the east coast since MTTS is cancelled. It is in the early stages so no details yet, but Dale does really good multiday runs and it may be a good alternative.
