Poison Ivy
There's also a sort of tape that's MINI vendors sell that is already cut to the width of the window trim chrome. Geno did his in red that we picked up at MOTD.
IndiCooper
taping all that off to paint can be a pain, most people (myself included) choose to do vinyl for the beltline and its fairly easy to put on
nharrison21
The chrome trim around my windows, i wish it was black! Do you mean the chrome "belt-line" just below the windows???? If that's the case then you would prob be better off getting the black belt line kit. taping all that off to paint can be a pain, most people (myself included) choose to do vinyl for the beltline and its fairly easy to put on +1 Link Provided http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-cooper/out-motoring-blackout-beltline-kit.html ________________________________________________________________ [sIGPIC]http://www.motoringalliance.com/gallery/data/500/nh21003.jpg[/sIGPIC] 2004 MC JB/W CVT DSC H/K R50 "Operation De-Chrome" 90% Complete

1975_mini
The chrome trim around my windows, i wish it was black! that would be a good first time project to try, if you want black go to home depot or lowes (8 bucks) versus ordering online for 15 bucks a can. you can also use black electrical tape to back out that trim very easily. just run tape then run an exacto knife on the seam. it will trim and press into the seam at the same time. 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels
SlingsDogs
The chrome trim around my windows, i wish it was black! Next time you see me feel free to check out my PlastiDip up close. Has its pros and cons but I like it as a way to try out looks. Ive done every piece of chrome I can find and I have done my wheels once and continued to take off sections to try diff looks. Did a lot of it in the garage during the snow storms using the heat of a work light to keep the can and car warm. Rims were easy. Held up pretty well through a brake job as well, might try white rims next just for snits and giggles. Has anybody seen a fully PlastiDipped car up close? Looks good on small parts and trim but not sure about big areas....
cmcveay
Black Vinyl electrical tape will also work very nicely on the 2nd Gen beltline chrome (it's too wide for the 1st Gen). One of the secrets is to not "pull" on the tape while laying it down or it will "creep" back into it's original state and you'll have chrome spots showing. It's also a great way to practice on a budget since the beltline blackout kits can be a little pricey (compared to a $3 roll of tape). It makes an incredible difference when that chrome is gone - but then if you ask, you'll find that for me at least, it makes an incredible difference when ALL of the chrome is gone... 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon "Homer" 2012 MB/CR JCW R55 "Merlin" Sold 2009 LB/LB R56 "Archie" Sold
Eddie
And don't do it the "pull" when it's super hot or if the chrome is super hot.. it'll stretch real easy.. Will soon be DECHROMED.. 2013 Mini Countryman All 4 S (Gassy) Absolute Black [sIGPIC]
1975_mini
The seem of PD is the great start to the weekend, I removed brandy's stripes I did last year. We will have to come up with something new for MTTB5. I also blacked out the grille, headlight rings, and skuddles. 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels
GreenCactus
I re-dipped Cricket's winter wheels this weekend. Last year, I used the silver metalizer over the black. This year, I found this... Cricket now has black wheels with green sparkles! It's pretty subtle, so I haven't been able to get a good picture, but I'll post when I do. 1975_mini
I have been debating a white roof on Watson and decided to pull the trigger this afternoon. Before Lets get started Coat 1 Coat 2 and end of Can 1 End of Can 2 (photo smooths it out still a bit blotchy) Out of PD and day light. Lesson learned white takes more to cover. Looks like a morning run the pick up another can, and finih the job. 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels

1975_mini
It has light texture. If you are looking to go smooth, there are broader nozzle they sell. Also laying it heavier and faster creates a smooth effect. I went light texture do to it being a large horizontal surface. So it hides the dust and other issue doing it out in the open cause 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels

I have my daily driver's roof coated right now to test it out before putting any on the mini.
