  1. arrrgh, not going to make it this Sunday. Taking the 1/5th scale RC Mini to a track in Jersey to race, only happens once a month so I don't want to skip it. Might do Katies instead.
  2. 90% chance I will be there Sunday. 100% chance I will wash my car first this time.
  3. Ill head out, I can record the F1 race!
  4. Unless its super packed you can usually find a spot on the back side of it all. There ends up being all sorts of cool cars tucked back there on a busy day anyway since people get there late. Another option is to roll in towards the end and watch them all leave. You get to hear then running and can usually find a spot. You do miss some cars though.
  5. Yellow with black roof was me. Only had time to drive through as I was on the way to a nephews Birthday party. Holiday weekend with decent weather should be a decent turn out this Sunday. Ill be there, time depends on how late Saturday goes. Recently purchased a 1/5th scale gas powered RC MINI Cooper. Its a model of the WRC MINI Countryman. Maybe i'll bring it out.
  6. Now that I have Plasti-dipped my wheels a couple of times and colors I was thinking of painting for permanence. Did you sand or scuff the rims first? Use any Primer? Etching Primer? Automotive Paint or Wheel Paint? I see that Duplicolor, Rustoleum and Eastwood all have wheel painting kits and wondered if you used one of those? A million questions I know… Thanks for any tips! Chris
  7. I am a big fan of testing out ideas using Plasti-Dip first. I am tempted to put some stripes on my Mini and will likely pull the trigger in the spring. Before I get the vinyl I am going to try Plasti-Dip in a few configurations. Be sure to let us know how it works out and what you go with! If you need an extra pair of hands for a project I usually have a pretty open schedule.
  8. One down 3 to go! Great Christmas present for he R56 owner in your life at the low low cost of one Tasty Adult Beverage!
  9. I won the Stage 1 Tune from MiniDynamics at MTTB, I also won 4 of the $100 off gift certificates. Since I have the tune I don't need the $100 off a tune. Check out http://www.minidynamics.com/ECU-Tuning-Systems-s/2055.htm I highly recommend it! I love how smooth and consistent the tune is. I am selling each one individually for the cost of one tasty adult beverage at the next Mini event. Just PM me and Ill tell you how to redeem it. First 4 win. Let me know if you have questions. These EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE YEAR Chris ONLY 3 LEFT
  10. Thanks, Running the access port now and I won the Manic Tune from MiniDynamcs so I am going to give them a try. Looks like I have an AccessPort tuner for sale now if anyone is interested. Do a quick search on NAM for info.
  11. Bringing up the most recent of some old threads provided by the search function. Anybody running a custom tune on an R56 S? Specifically Manic Tunes or DNA/Battle tune?
  12. WooHoo! That has to be the first time I've driven around the Beltway with a smile on my face. Sooo cool to see so many Minis running together. A Big thank you to all the people that worked to make this happen and to all the vendors that donated materials or help. Remember to try and use our vendors when you can to thank them. Bummed I couldn't stay for the lunch but looks like I was lucky enough to win a couple of things! Let me know where and when works best to come pick them up and i'll make it work in my schedule so you don't have to hold them long. Thanks again and see you all soon. Chris (mellow yellow R56 S)
  13. Running an AccessPort now but would like a more custom solution. Are your maps standard for each stage or can you custom tune, use logs from dyno pulls to tailor a safe map for my specific car?
  14. my ratio of cost that was for walnut blasting vs how much was for the ecu flash may be of a bit. I know the total was $7XX for the both and the walnut blasting was $500 something so ECU flash/reprogram/update was probably in the $100-150 range. I asked if I could skip the ECU programing, I have a Cobb Accessport and as it is no longer supported I don't want the ecu to be updated to where the Accessport no longer works with the new software. Service guy seemed to say there was no way to do it without reprograming. I will likely grab a Bentley Manual, gather the tools and take it on myself some warm weekend this summer.
  15. I spoke to Mini of Sterling just a few days ago and they quoted me in the $700 neighborhood for walnut blasting! $550 ish for the blasting and a couple hundo for a "needed ECU reflash"
