  1. ...and now he's switched to Audi Arlington - he had told me he was about to move there, but not to post it yet as he had not yet told Infiniti... but now he has posted about it on FB, so I guess the cat is out of the bag! Either way, not at PMoA =
  2. The good news is that David chose to leave PMoA on his own accord (this time)... apparently the service management position wasn't quite what he was hoping it would be (I also imagine that not being on commission any longer was a factor... I'm sure his popularity with us (and other non-DCMM customers) as an SA served him very well in that area!). He is currently at Infiniti of Tysons. Ah OK cool, good thing this problem happened at home, and not by failing you when out and about!
  3. I was thinking of a non-rubber hose solution, in the same way that we have braided steel brake lines. Unfortunately, David Rockwell is no longer at PMoA - again.
  4. Oof - a lot of work! A labor of love, though. I'm curious - is there an option to replace the rubber gas line with a better solution that won't be affected by the ethanol?

    Monk's BBQ Run

Thank you Craig & Sierra! We had a great time, and the food was delicious! :congrats:
  6. I was just taking a guess... I haven't heard any official word. I do realize that many MINI parts are actually manufactured by other companies (most of them, I'd bet). Let me take another stab at what I meant to say the rule might be... only parts that have a BMW/MINI part number. In other words - you can find it on RealOEM.com. Again, just a guess. I agree it's annoying that they won't give you the discount on tires, but what I've typically done is price shop with Tire Rack. In my experience with doing that, they will match it, with a small additional charge for the cost of installing them (which would also be the case if you bought the tires from Tire Rack and then took them anywhere to install them). So at least they will price match against TR... That, I agree - is complete BS!
  7. It probably means "manufactured by MINI", which tires are not. :dontknow:
  8. I can't speak to that exact conversion, but be aware that these exist: R53 JCW seats - they are Sparco based:
  9. Reverse route or standard route? Remember... the SF start can go in two different directions, depending on which way we are running it.
  10. Not a buyer, but I just wanted to add that the 2nd Gen JCW brake upgrade is a REALLY nice jump from the brakes you have (and I effectively had prior, with the 1st Gen JCW brakes). It was an even more noticeable improvement than when I upgraded again to the GP2 brakes... although I am of the firm opinion that you can never have too much brake!
  11. Not another MINI but today while stopped at a traffic light a few cars back, I got a thumbs up through the passenger window from a bright blue Ford Focus RS (which is the really fast one, if you didn't know), with the license plate "LADY STIG". At the next traffic light, we ended up next to each other, and they rolled the window down - two ladies in the front seat - the driver told me that my car was beautiful and that she loves JCWs. I returned the compliment, said I had a lot of respect for the RS (was not just being nice - I do!), so that was a nice encounter.

    Reunion!

It's not your fault - the event feature defaults to 0 guests per RSVP, so unless you notice it at the bottom (or remember from past experience) when creating a new event, it will always be an issue. I did look into changing the default some time ago but I could not find it.
  13. Thanks for opening up guest RSVPs, German! I have updated my RSVP to ensure Susan is included in the count.
  14. That was a fun run! Thank you for setting it up, Steve! :top: Sorry about my weird temperature gauge drama... but it seems we enjoyed the stop anyway.
  15. Hey folks, I just learned that for one week only to celebrate their 14th anniversary, PLX Devices is selling their Kiwi 3 wireless OBD2 adapter for $90, instead of the usual $150. If you've thought about getting one before, so you can run electronic gauges on your smartphone or tablet, or just to be able to read OBD2 error codes, this one is the best available, IMO. It's both iOS and Android compatible, and is very small - only sticks out 0.7" from your MINIs OBD2 port - I believe it's the most compact adapter on the market. It is also very efficient with power consumption and is very fast compared to other OBD2 adapters (gives smoother & faster data updates to the app on your device). I bought one via Kickstarter a couple of years ago for the same $90 price, so it's a very good deal, IMO. Here's the link, if you are interested: Kiwi 3 OBD2 OBDII Wireless Bluetooth Diagnostic Scanner ...and here's their product video on it:
  16. Melissa - I have picked up your registration. Hilary - yours too. Chris & Steve - some other DCMMers already got yours... I think it was Mark & Ali, but it might have been Celia?
  17. I will be happy to return the favor! Sorry that you can't make it.
  18. Any night! All nights! The variety of games will lend itself to impromptu sessions, too.
  19. I'm still on for game night(s)! Loading up the games tomorrow. Oh, and the Joking Hazard: Deck Enhancement #1 was released early, along with another expansion pack, called Toking Hazard (yep, what it sounds like). I bought both. See you all in a few days! :motor:
  20. Thank you all to everyone who came and participated. Even though we had a significant drop in numbers (30 -> 18), largely due to the weather, we still proved that, even in the rain, the Spring Fling is still lots of fun! The fog on Blueridge Mountain Road sure was spooky & eerie - in all the years I have driven that road, at least twice per year (for the practice run & the event itself), I've never seen that. It was really great how Griffin Tavern went the extra mile, too - with decorations for us. Totally their doing, not my idea, BTW.
  21. The route sheets are printed, and we're ready! Keep in mind that the run is still on, rain or shine. We've started this run in the pouring rain before, and it turned out to be a nice day in the end. Weather reports (from the National Weather Service) for the endpoints of the run tomorrow: Start & Finish (Sterling, VA): Chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 61. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50% Lunch Stop (Flint Hill, VA): Showers likely after 11am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 64. East wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. So tonight: Fill up your gas tank Charge your 2-way radios (If you don't have one, I will lend you an extra one) Ensure you have cash for lunch Pack an umbrella, just in case, and a sweater (if 60s makes you cold) See you all tomorrow morning!
  22. 4 more days to the Spring Fling! Looking forward to seeing you all out there! :motor:
  23. Considering that there is no key slot/hole for the regular metal key (inside the car) on 2nd & 3rd Gen MINIs, I don't think the manual key (by itself) is any use in getting the car started. I think the chip in the fob is still needed to be seen by the car in order to use the stop/start button (2nd Gen) or switch (3rd Gen). Whether that works with a dead fob battery, I'm not sure.
