Be sure to pack a coat as it will likely be a bit chilly when we get to the basin, but it is worth it for the morning views. Come join us on a casual cruise up the George Washington Parkway along the Potomac River through Old Town Alexandria to the Hain’s point (approx. 35min drive). We should arrive as the sun is rising on Washington D.C. and the cherry blossoms. We will enjoy the blossom being sure to capture the great photo ops with our cars for an hour (or a bit longer to not rush). We will be departing the basin and enjoy some roads as we wind our way around Tyson’s Corner and back down into Fairfax (approx. 1 hour and 30 min) ending at Brion’s for brunch and enjoy each other’s company. We will be meeting in the Giant Parking lot in Burke, we will be heading southwest exploring many of the great twisties around Mananas and Warrenton as we wind our way for about an hour to a little lunch counter place in Bealeton, VA. Lunch Stop: M&P Pizza Restaurant, don’t let the name fool you they have a little bit of everything. You can check out the menu at https://mppizzarestaurant.com/ After lunch we will continue west and north through Culpeper and into wine country, with nearly two hours of continuous country roads that are a great combination of sweeping turns, rolling roads, technical twisties all while enjoying countryside views. We will be ending this year at the Desert Rose Ranch and Winery (Pet Friendly). Event Title: Post Holiday Party Event Date: 01/19/2019 06:00 PM to 01/19/2019 10:00 PM Event Address: 5386 summit drive, Fairfax, Va, 22030 RSVP on the event here: Post Holiday Party Where: Carl and Faith's house at 5386 Summit Drive Fairfax VA 22030. They are located on the Centerville side of the Fairfax County Parkway. Summit is the first street light after the parkway if you are coming from Fairfax on Lee Hwy RT29. When you turn off Lee Hwy on to Summit Drive in about 100 yards the road splits left and right. Go down the Right leg. The house is the third driveway on the left. You will not see the house. The second and third driveways are side by side. If you see new houses close to the street on the left you went too far. Special thanks to Carl and Faith for hosting! Parking: There is space for about 15 to 20 MINIS in the driveway. The overflow can park on the street. If you have it, bring a small flashlight due to some dark spots on the street. Does the history mention walnut blasting, as carbon build up on the backside of the valves could definately contribute to rough idle and if enough build up intermittent misfires that would create lack of power. The High Pressure fuel pump is a common fail part, if it is going bad that could explain some of the issues under load. Both are just guesses, did you pull the codes being thrown that caused the CEL? if you have access to the service history look for HPFP replacement and Timing chain/tensor bolt replacement. Let us know what the shop says.

Good detailed description of your issues, as opposed to the common I have a CEL, its making noises, whats wrong. I do have a few follow up questions: 1) how many miles on your MINI? 2) did you check the oil, once the issue happen or when you got home? If so what was the level? Thanks

Great run craig, even though the run gods have to a Honda for turn left out of the parking lot.? It was great catching up with the regulars, and awesome to have some new folks join us.

I wanted judge the interest in the run that started near the VA/MD line and explored some of the twisties on the MD side end in Glen Burnie. There is a detailing supply shop there that I have been visiting recently. They are donating a prize for the MTTB and also mentioned an interest in host an event to demo so techniques and products and also offer a discount on products during the event. I will also be offering this to C3m as a collaborative event if there is enough interest.
