  1. It was almost 11 by the time I got there, saw no-one else.
  2. Will there be donuts? Strudel? Bangers? Parts discounts?
  3. Oh, I agree they'd ticket you, if they realized it was a faux plate. But the existence of legal foreign plates in this area might throw them off. Looks cool, anyway. Certainly better than the MD 1812 plates. At any rate, I've been driving Miatas without a front plate since '98.
  4. Wonder how the revenuers woud respond to this... http://www.customeuropeanplates.com/usa-euro-style-license-plates.html
  5. Looks like it's being used properly!
  6. Any of the aluminum "race" jacks, from Harbor Freight or Pep Boys, etc, should do. I usually use a Torin from Pep Boys, works fine. How low are you?
  7. So far, so good with the Conti DWS. Goal was an all-season, accepting dry compromises, and nmot wanting to store a winter set -s=especially since winter is mostly mild. Usually. Dry grip is a bit disappointing, compared to many summer tires I've used on the Miatas. Not a tire I'd use if AX'ing regularly. I wonder if the GY TripleTred would have been better all around. We use these (H-rated) on our Outback (AWD) and Tacoma (2WD).
  8. Repeatedly halts on my iCan't...
  9. Change in change in plans - Will not be attending.
  10. You want vectors from Victor? Somebody had to say it...
  11. At least on 2nd gen, but I think on 1st also... If your MINI is showing no signs of misalignment, and the plastic alignment pin is intact, loosen one strut top nut on each side and check that the stud in the middle of the slot. If it is on both sides, pull the alignment pin out, loosen all six nuts, and push the top if the tires in with your knee. Should get to the inside of the slot. Good for almost a half degree of extra negative camber. A bit more grip in corners, a bit less on-center deadness. Not dramatic, but noticeable. Very easy on a new car, I did mine at about 2000 miles; might not be easy on one with 20000 miles. No problem with subsequent installation of NM strut brace, others might not work. Heck might not work on any other MINI, maybe I got lucky and your wheels will fall off. Not my idea, got it from NAM. Search there for more info.
  12. I'll assume everyone has done the free camber mod...
  13. And the Supertones have the cosmetic advantage of looking cool behind the grill - although they're not mounted that way in my Miata. I think I'd have trouble mounting the Ongaro 16" from the Tacoma in a MINI.
  14. The nice thing about electrically-powered air horns is that they ramp up - so if you do a quick tap, they're brief and relatively quiet. The bad is that they can get clogged with debris, including insects seeking a home. Worse, however, it the difficulty of actuating the horn in a MINI at all, at least mine. I have to hit the horn pad in just the right place, and hard. I've taken the airbag out to adjust the contacts a bit, but it's difficult to do that without getting too sensitive. I'm considering adding a separate button.
  15. Oh, and another thing - I've switched to Bosch Icon wipers, as I have on other vehicles in our ecurie. I had not been a fan of Bosch, until the um, integrated, blades appeared. Unfortunately, not available for the rear wiper.
  16. Or softened water. A problem with out well water.
  17. If home brewing, make sure you don't end up mixing anything containing ammonia with anything containing chlorine... Bad.... Very Bad... At any rate, what's in there now? I'd think deposits would most likely come from tap water, or especially well water.
  18. So far, so good with the Contis. Got up our snow-coated driveway without issues. Sport mode makes it easier to drive slow.
  19. Closer to a MINI than a NASCAR car is to anything on the lot at a Ford, Chevy, or especially Toyota dealer. Just go with it...
  20. If the Koni FSD is anything like the Sport, it may take a few days to settle, in my Miata-based experience.
  21. Who would you have install it, that would positively affect the warranty?
