  1. A coupe of things I realized since starting this thread (and I've had my buggy a wee bit longer): I'm not as concerned about somebody stealing my MINI as I am about simple B&E. EVERY day I question myself whether or not I remembered to lock my car before walking away. I'm Pavlov's dog, without the chirp-chirp I end up interrupting my day to go and double-check. The last time I was in the movie theater and left because I just didn't know (better to be safe than sorry). But...I just heard back from Rockwell @ Passport and he says my MINI "does not have the correct wiring to install the alarm" which means I might as well find some other third party to install(?) as the dealer is going to rip me a knew one if they have to add wiring :banghead:
  2. Nube inquiry: So all of this is if you have MINI Connected installed? EDIT: so what does this thing do for you? http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mini-connected/id376699654?mt=8
  3. Actually it's a simple quad-venti-latte, I like coffee flavored coffee (but I am intrigued about the 0W-30 synth, that might be good for the stereotypical Monday's ). I've more than a half-dozen camelbaks but would have to buy one just for Sbux as my rule is only H2O or 50/50 Gatorade & water for events longer than 60 minutes. But I can't remember the last time I used this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00412GX5E so maybe I should convert it to a Sbux holder (although it would cost me more to fill up than it currently cost to do the same for my MINI )
  4. Actually it is bottled water that I have in the car. Used to carry around an entire case in my Outback. Now that I have MINImized my footprint I'm trying to keep one up front (on the right) one is down the middle (behind/beneath armrest) and the bain of my existence are the pair I put in the rear holders that flop out the second the car moves. It's those rolling around and under my seats that really irritate me. Can't drink 'em at Starbucks when you've picked them up to take with you to brunch. Or, when I'm simply starting my day, going from point-A to point-B, I've no time to lounge around the cafe - it's not like I'm on vacation, ya know
  5. Ahhhhhhh...no, none of my contacts have that creature (or at least not one I could access).
  6. No kids, eh? For the moment no food is allowed to be eaten in my buggy (I had a begl in the first week and waayyy too many crumbs were left to clean up). Outside of water, coffee is the only other thing allowed...for me. I've trepidation about letting anyone else, but it's hard to explain to a date why I can drink my Starbucks in the car and they can't. And I can't deny anybody water. Heck, you'd give a dog water on a hot day, why not a girl? With that, that's why the mad search for an acceptable cup holder. I don't want anything spilled in my buggy, especially coffee, and having a fully functional cup holder is where I'm starting (because I'd be lying to say I would never drink my Sbux in there).
  7. No, I didn't come across that. It is nice and clean looking. What's a flow-jet? I deal with some industrial labs and might be able to put a feeler out for whatever this animal is.
  8. C'mon down! (uhhh...are you giving rides, and if so, how much?) See you Sat at the meet & greet?
  9. Now that's a horn! Too bad it makes it dangerous to ride (a bike). It might also be a wee bit dangerous in your car too. Honk the driver in front of you with that thing (above) and who knows what their reaction might be: http://www.woai.com/news/local/story/Road-rage-shooting-sparked-by-honk-of-a-horn/QSBzr1PRyEujs03dSK6N3w.cspx
  10. Sounds like a labor of love  Looking forward to the finished product and blueprints.
  11. That's exactly what I want to do, swap out the OEMs and use the existing horn control on steering wheel.
  12. I assume you used it like this: http://mybeautifulmini.com/images/large/BMW-65_LRG.JPG I'm looking for something like I had in my Outback (http://subarupartspeople.com/images/Subaru/O6%20Cargo%20Net%20Rear.jpg). Not only is/was it a pouch, it also served as a barrier to keep things from falling out (I wish I had thought to keep it before I sold my former buggy).
  13. I spent another day playing hooky and I saw a few MINIs around town. Hi-beamed a couple on the opposite side and got waves and flashed back in reply. But the one I could actually get close-up and personal on treated me like my name was Casper. I pulled up on his left side and honked. No response. I pulled up behind him and hi-beamed and waved. No response. I pulled up on he right side and honked. No response. Oh well...I'm enjoying my motoring :top:
  14. Yeah, I really liked the PVC version too, especially as it allows you to still use the original holder for something else (i.e., my sidekick in my avatar ) There weren't any additional info in the full thread but I did PM him to see if he may have done something and not posted it. If he didn't, I'm hoping I can pluck his brain for some details, e.g., what did he use to connect the two pieces). I'll post whatever he replies with.
  15. I'm hoping to meet Mark on Sat and chat with him about his newly installed cup holder. But in the meantime I'm still looking at ways to overcome the minor inconveinces of my new buggy. While searching I came across this: http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-19957496485790_2211_26336754.jpg My question is about the cup holder cover/cap on the left side one. Obviously this is a 1st gen(?), but I'm wondering if those caps are functional, making the cup holder into a big pill bottle? And if so, will that cap fit my 2nd gen MINI. If I'm getting the MINI Fini cup holder I'd got to make use of the existing ones somehow. TIA. P.S. - and on the cup holders themselves, I found this guys mod: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/2970181-post5.html http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/91220/ppuser/20272 EDIT: Mystery solved. IT'S A COOKBOOK! http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/G2NMI1400/InvDetail.cfm
  16. Well, here I go again, restarting a thread. Nubes have a tendancy to do that I'm not liking my OEM horn and was window-shopping this one http://www.fastmini.net/hesuho.html What do y'all have and are you happy with it?
  17. In washing my buggy and playing hooky today I inspected something I'd come across earlier but didn't have time to figure out. I found what appears to be cargo net in the spare tire well. I say "appears to be" because I can't see anything functional about it as a cargo net. In doing some intense Googling I came across this http://www.minipartsmass.com/parts/2010/MINI/COOPER/CLUBMAN/?siteid=215989&vehicleid=1445175&diagram=1971830 My net is part #7 and as it is shown in the schematic was the only way I could see it placed in my buggy...and it still looks just as useless. Is this correct? It's supposed to go in the boot well strecthed a couple of inches up?!? And if so, for what purpose? I also found reference to cargo net #8 (http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/2667394-post1.html) which is also just as retarded. Are there any cargo nets that actually work for the MINI? My friend has a tri-cornered pouch-like thing that came with her hardtop that is a wee bit more useful, but she says all it can hold are plastic supermarket bags. EDIT: so this is how this thing is supposed to (sorta) work?!? http://mybeautifulmini.com/images/large/BMW-65_LRG.JPG
  18. With the great weather I made the excuse of not doing my household chores and burning half a tank of gas (after I washed my buggy just to get road dust & grime on it again ) I went by to pick up a friend who was also willing to procrastinate and ride shotgun (her new hardtop pictured behind my buggy) and we rode out to Brandywine Auto to window shop/scavenger hunt for any Cooper parts we may come across. At the end of the day we did late lunch/early dinner at the Carraba's near the Bowie Baysox stadium and I made the comment how we saw not a single MINI on that side of town to wave hi to. We both agreed that MINIs are in over abundance NOVA, seen more parked than moving in DC, and also seen in Montgomery County (but seldom with happy drivers waving back). Any op on the above?
  19. Another item for my live Q&A at the meet & greet this upcoming Sat. Thanks.
  20. Nube popping in again: So this "seafoam" thing is something I should be doing to my buggy on a regualr basis?
  21. If you were talking to me, maybe. Maybe.
  22. Yup, yup. In VA you could have a car in your backyard/garage and covered, and the code enforcers have the right to go on your property to inspect and give you a citation (e.g., for no tags).
  23. Took mine in last Sat for its first check up (under me). Didn't have any such flurry as you, before or after (in fact, I haven't received the survey they said I'd get).
  24. I'm thinking I'll be this way for a long time too
