  1. Not a fan. Just not a fan of that look.
  2. Winter time is coming and I've got a set of Rota RB wheels, gunmetal gray with polished lips that have a nearly new set of Bridgestone Blizzak (215/45R-17) WS70 tires mounted on them. The tires have roughly 100 miles on them. The wheels have pre-2011 TPMS sensors on them. New, the wheels go for just under $600 a set. The tires run $600 a set from Tire Rack. These are a genuine steal at $800. I can deliver within a reasonable distance. Email or PM if you are interested!
  3. Headed home from work last night, A MINI was coming towards me on Chain Bridge Road, just south of Lee Highway. It was the spitting image of Lola but alas, as they passed, it was a non-waving MINI owner. There's also a nice looking Clubman in the parking lot here at work - the license plates are OMG something. I never see the owner/driver though.
  4. What secret? Drive better/faster than everyone else and hit fewer cones. See! Isn't that simple?
  5. Wow, another awesome picnic. Many, many thanks to everyone "behind the scenes" that made this work. From getting the reservation for the location to helping pick up the trash and clean up the last bits and pieces, it was yet another great example of teamwork. And yes, Lona kept tabs of what we should be getting because I have had a tendency to get too much stuff and we end up have boxes and boxes of hamburgers and hotdogs left over. A perfect amount of food for the grill this year. For everyone that brought food, WOW! So many awesome dishes and desserts. The potato salad with peas was great - can I get the recipe? - and Lona and I both made pigs out of ourselves with the Flan. I need to run an extra 20 miles this week to make up for everything that I ate. Oh, thanks to whoever brought the Twinkies - I loved the box and the Minions. Personally, I'd like to thank Sherm and Brian for taking over the grills and getting the last of the food cooked up. We had a great time everyone and we look forward to seeing you at another event soon!
  6. Heading out to shop for the picnic this afternoon. There are 13 members and guests on the "maybe" list. If you can, please update your status so we know how much food and drink to get. Thanks everyone! Looking forward to seeing you at the Picnic!
  7. Getting down to the last week and it's almost time to do the shopping for the picnic and I need to see if the Maybe's can start firming up their responses. It makes it easier to get the right amount of food. Thanks everyone!
  8. +1 for this outfit! The lightened version gives you all kinds of options for mounting with regards to up/down and to either side. Top notch quality too!
  9. Welcome Jasen! Looking forward to meeting you in person soon.
  10. Actually Mark and I swapped so he now has an Ipad 2 and I have a Galaxy Tablet 10.1. Going well so far but having to adjust to the minor differences.
  11. Thanks for coming out everyone, that really was fun. We had a fun little run back to Ox Road and even managed to find a few more new and exciting twisties on the way!
  12. Just got in from pre-driving the route and running errands. The route is awesome with lots of great twisty roads and it's really, really pretty out there (even on this blustery overcast day). One thing in the interest of full disclosure though! The route does have about a mile of gravel road. If that's a show stopper, it's okay because we can let the "paved roads only" crowd know where to turn so you can arrive ahead of us and not have to worry about the unpaved part. I'll post a video in a bit that really shows why we pre-run routes.
  13. Technically, that would make him a Chevrolet... I don't know why I get involved in these conversations with Ali. When will I ever learn..
  14. That's gotta be worth what, another 10HP? If you get the optional decal and attach it under the hood, it's good for another 2HP!
  15. I'll PM my cell phone number since this is in the public area...
  16. We'll send pictures! Have an awesome weekend!
  17. Justin'll be washing dishes for a month to make up for that!
  18. Take a look at this. Fairly easy install. What I REALLY like about this thing is the ability to have "stealth" circuits for power. I have two devices that won't be mentioned here (they aren't legal to USE in VA or D.C. so that would violate site rules) that are controlled by the stealth circuits. A quick double tap on the DSC or Sport button and I can turn the electronic devices off or on. No need to reach up to the roofline or anything. This could also be used to control lights or other devices with the use of a relay.
  19. I've startled the gate guards here at work with it. Sport button on, engine braking down the hill to the guards and all they hear is the grumble, grumble, pop, grumble... A couple have stopped me and commented on it. Audrey, try the "triggers" that Haemish mentioned OR, take a ride with another 1st Gen that does it and see what it sounds like. There's also the chance that you aren't hearing it if you are like Ali and "sing" along with your radio at deafening levels...

Looks like it'll be about 20 miles and it should take roughly 40 minutes for the drive.
