Welcome! Looking forward to seeing you at an event soon!

Merlin would be excited but he's got the biggest parts of Tigger's costume stuffed in his boot. So much so that he's a single seater and Lona will have to drive her own car to get to Passport! How's that for teamwork?
-
Just for the record, I have now been hit with a veto. Winnings will go to Mrs. McVeay - should there be any winnings that is...
-
I'm with you. It's not worth the danger to swerve to miss. +1
-
And I've taken an "anatomically correct" copy of "Babe the Blue Ox"... This is a PG-13 forum so no photo's allowed.
-
Lona turned the garage into the "Skunk works" plant for the costume. When she's working on it, she closes all of the doors to the garage. I'm not sure if she's been secretive or if she's avoiding the humilation... When Laura and Ali came to the house, she scrambled around to put away the sewing machine and all of the bits and pieces too.

Lona has been working her behind off on this year's costume and the last of the "accessories" have arrived from Amazon. Without giving anything away, let's just say that once again, the owner will be a part of the costume again this year and most of you won't even think it's out of place...

Did you try Pelican parts? I drove a VW for a couple of years and it was almost an annual requirement to replace the window regulators (there's a class action lawsuit again VW for it) and I used to buy the parts from them. Not inexpensive for the VW at least. Here's a link to the the parts on realoem.com Sometimes, I have a similar problem - especially if I've messed around with the weather strip. I don't remember if the Cabrio has auto up windows or not - can you tap/release to open or close your windows or do you have to hold it? Try this. With the car running, run the window all the way down. Then, press and hold the window switch up and once the window is closed, continue to hold while counting to 15 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc.) and when you reach 15, press and hold down and do the same thing. Then try it. If that didn't fix the problem, try starting the window in the up position. I'm pretty sure I found the right way by doing a google search for something like "resetting MINI windows" but I don't remember the exact sequence. I do know that I did it while we were waiting to get on White's Ferry for the Passport of Montgomery County picnic.

Hey GiGi, sorry to hear you are having problems like that. The transmission fluid in the MINI is considered "lifetime" which is kind of hard to believe because it does take a beating. 3+ with over 100k on any other car would have meant at least one oil/filter change. Not having an auto, I can't really say but if the tech did diagnostics and indicates that the oiled wiring harness is the problem, I'd say that it needs to be either very, very thoroughly cleaned or replaced. But, that doesn't fix the root cause - the leak. That needs to be fixed as well and that's usually where the real expense starts to come into the picture. As far as the color, if the tech is only looking at the color that's leaked out of the transmission, it's deceptive as there's no way of knowing how long it's been there and what may have contaminated it to give it an odd color. I think there's a plug that can be pulled and they can check the fluid for color/odor inside the transmission. Please let us know what comes out of this and I hope we can get some good advice to you.

I'm hearing lots of noise here but there simply ain't any action... You're among friends Quitta, you can admit that you just aren't up for the challenge. It's okay, we understand, we still love ya like a little sister.:top: There, I've used up my emoticon quota for the entire month in one email and I'm glad it's over with.

Yep, going for the win. We've gotten 3rd and 2nd place in the past so maybe, just maybe, this year will be the charm. All of my winnings will go towards the JCW Aero kit.

As long as the UPS truck arrives in time, I hope to have photo's of a cool new PD project before the weekend. If the truck doesn't arrive in time, well, there's still gonna be a cool project but it won't be right now.

It was great to see so many new and old members today! An awesome turnout for the annual meeting. A really, really big shout out to Laura and Haemish for having a great plan for the board meeting. Another equally large round of applause for Quitta who scouted out and made the arrangements of the location, I thought it was a great place for us to meet.

Thanks for checking Catalina!
-
We will indeed miss you Katie! Give Paul our best and take good care of him.

Wait till Mr. UPS shows up and I think everyone will be giggling over the "PD Overkill" that's getting ready to happen! Whatcha gonna do Steve?

That's a cool shift knob! Yeah, our shift knobs aren't threaded on, they are a press-fit. There's a groove in the top of the shifter that keeps the shift knob facing the right direction. Be careful when removing the OEM knob, you can hurt yourself or bust your sunroof or knock a hole in the top of a cabrio. Just to keep the record straight, I used part of a Fresca can since Lona won't drink beer from a can and I don't drink beer at all. Otherwise, yes, we can figure out what it'll take to make it fit.

It's under DC Metro MINIs with the DCMM website in all caps.

I have a vision that won't get out of my head. Jim... Flashing us... :boring:
-
Dang it and I knew that because Jennifer even TOLD me so! What can I say though... Golf, Subarau, they all look alike when you are focusing on the road ahead of you. :motor:
-
Jim and Jennifer saw us just before turned onto Lime Kiln road. They were "incognito" driving a white VW Golf Rrrrrrr. Jennifer called me just after they saw us. Many thanks to GreenCactus for planning this event and then paying Nick a bribe to have such awesome weather! We really enjoyed meeting all of the new members out for their first event, old members who have been away for a while, new members riding with old members and - Okay, we enjoyed seeing everyone! Sometimes it seems like we are a social club with a car problem and that's just what makes all of you so much fun. Thanks everyone!

I think Mike is still trying to find a tripod that's low enough to do this justice! We had to laugh when he took the car off the jack stands the first time. Not only was there no wheel gap, the rubber was STUFFED! I'm pretty sure a #2 pencil would have been an obstacle! Back up in the air, adjustments to be made. We'll get some pics at the pumpkin-less pumpkin run later today. We might be able to get a few of the lowered cars together for it.
-
Yeah, no more sharing your soda with the bee's Laura! It wasn't fair when you tried to eat the poor little fella! My GPS actually has "unpaved roads" as an avoidance now. It's only failed me a couple of times.
-
I surrender! Compared to you guys - AND YOU Brandy, I am a PD Novice... That really was a nice look you had there Mike! Very impressive. Now ideas are percolating and the fall colors run is coming up soon...
