We just finished the route check. The roads are wet, but otherwise no issues, so we’re on!

What did you do to your Mini today?
GreenCactus replied to Lt. Dan's topic in Maintenance & Modifications
I love the body color wheel arches. I had planned on doing that with Cricket at some point... I don't think it would look as good on the F56, so I'm not going to do it. I am planning on blacking out most of the chrome, though. It just needs to warm up enough on a weekend! -
I might have spoken too soon about the weather. At this point, I'm not going to change anything. I will make the call by 11am on Sunday if I'm cancelling the run. I do not plan on cancelling the race watching because I can walk there.

2018 Sunrise Drive on the Dragon - Thursday
GreenCactus replied to agranger's topic in MOTD 16 (2018)
I didn't sign up for any of the drives, but if I end up coming down on Wednesday, I'll probably join Carl's brewery run on Thursday. Brandy - Deep Creek Falls is really pretty! I may go there again on my own! -

That looks great!! -
If you are planning on attending, could you please update your RSVP? I know a few people have told me they are coming, but according to the RSVP list, it's just me. Also, if you are planning on staying until the end of the race, Cuginis closes at 8pm. The race should be done by then, but in past years the Daytona 500 has taken forever. They may stay open a little later if there are a lot of people there, but they usually won't. The bar/restaurant across the street is open much later and will also be showing the race.

The weather is looking pretty good for Sunday, especially since we aren't starting until the afternoon. We did a partial test run on Sunday and the roads are in pretty good shape. Some things to note for the event: -There will be no route sheets, so please be sure you have a radio. We will have another Poolesville resident as a sweeper, so we won't lose anyone! - Games! There will be some silly games and trivia to keep you occupied during the race.* *The race starts at 3pm. I really don't expect anyone to stay for the ENTIRE race (though, you're welcome to).

We used to have a Golden Broom Award, not sure where it went.

Some of the "non-spirited" runs are fairly spirited, so be prepared. It's one of the reasons I don't do the organized runs anymore. I was pokey enough in Cricket and I can't imagine how slow I'll be this year. I don't want to annoy anyone else.
-
I made the mistake of signing up for two runs ONCE. It was the Deep Creek Falls Run, then a dinner run to Nantahala Outdoor Center followed by Bingo.
-
Don't overplan! I did that my 2nd year and I was exhausted. There's always someone around willing to go for a drive if you don't get signed up for the "official" ones, too.

I don't think it's that hard to change the radio if you are changing it to another MINI radio. It's when you go with the aftermarket stuff that it gets complicated.

Michael decided we’re bringing meatballs.
-
We're bringing some kind of food, probably an appetizer, but definitely not dessert.

Yeah, it gets hard when I find stuff like this. I still have the box of parts I picked up from the side of the road, too.
-
OEM MINI British Racing Green touch up paint kit. Never used, though box is a bit rough. This is BRG, not BRG2! Asking $10
-
One set of MINI wheel locks. They were used very briefly on a 2007. They will fit stock wheels, but probably won’t work with aftermarket wheels. Part #36136792850 Asking $30

I'm pretty sure you have to get it from the dealer. They will order it from Germany and you have to provide your driver's license and registration to prove you are the owner of the car. Even you were able to find one from a third party, you'd need to pay the dealer to have it programmed.

I'm probably leaving on Thursday. I might try to leave Wednesday afternoon and stop somewhere for the night.

Test fit/Measure your F56 Seats

You can check mine out! I live in Poolesville and work in Tysons, but I might be out your way next weekend (it's a big might) or we could meet in the middle somewhere. -
Sadly, I'm out completely for this. There are too many other things I'd like to do to take time off for even part of this route. I don't want to complain though, we've been lucky in this area to have been part of almost every other MTTS.
