I was trying to talk Sara into buying them, but she really isn't a fan. They are definately an aquired look. The search continues!

With regards to "real" or "fake", it would be important if the "fake" or "knock off" were made to a lower quality standard... It's not like a fake Gucci handbag, there's more at risk.
