  1. HA HA. I get grief from my friend because I start my weekends at 7A, and it's that late because that's the earliest she will allow me to set the alarm clock. Yeah, I like to get up & out to complete my errands *by* 10A so I can play from there.
  2. Crap. I'd planned to come, but for some reason I had it on my iPhone calendar as 10A. I have a ticketed event at 2P in DC. Sorry.
  3. That's only because the. MINI was first. The next car a couple of spots up got hooked to the rear.
  4. Sigh...I see this every weekday when I go to lunch, rush-hour no-parking/tow zone enforcement outside of my job. But it's the first time I've ever seen one of our own
  5. Yup, yup. I like to get down there early enough to take a nap, refuel (eat) and then some Dragon dry runs before dinner. If I could get out of work on time (not gonna happen) it'd be more like a 12M - 2AM escape.
  6. I'll be going down on Wed, but I'm leaving between 1A - 3A.
  7. Never used recirc before but I did so just for you :-) 15 min and it's still on recirc. Sorry.
  8. Seen this past Sunday in the Potomac Yards parking lot. I was coming up from Old Town and hitting Starbucks on my way into DC to watch the playoff games. I parked for a few minutes to say "hi", but I couldn't wait for long. Maybe next time.
  9. I'm down the road from you near the SS Metro. I know of nothing in the White Oak area and the shops I am familiar with were for my former and older cars (Subie, Acura, Mistubishi), I don't know how well they would do with a MINI. That said, the only place in MD that I know knows a MINI is Scandinavian, but they aren't near you. I've a few people with older MINIs in my neighborhood (*not* MINI enthusiasts). I'll try to ring their doorbells and find out who they use and get back to you. However, they may use the same local shops I referenced above, one in SS and the other next door in Takoma Park.
  10. Curious. What did MOCO quote you? And you said Geico is covering part of it? I guess we have different policies as they told me they would only cover a windshield replacement up to a specific price, but as that price was within my deductible I was free to use anybody I wanted as it would all be out of pocket. I ended up using AAA. No leaks that I'm aware of, but the windshield was as pitted after a couple of months as it was after a couple of years. The glass doesn't seem to be very durable.
  11. Whoops. I thought I had already RSVP'd, I have it on my iPhone calendar. Sorry about that.

  13. Got link? I'd like to see her shenanigans. Yup, yup. A la: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11313755/man-charged-urinating-art-modell-grave
  14. Might have to bail. Just getting in from work and this is the earliest night this week. Deadline on major project met but I'm fried. I'll see what I feel like when the sun comes up.
  15. I came across MD tag SUVBAIT on Friday afternoon. Going around the inner loop from Silver Spring and up 95N. I flashed, I honked, I pulled up up the drivers side and waved. No response. So I got back on the pedal and left him behind.
  16. Per Rockwell: The clutch is covered by the extended maintenance plan (which I already have). Still need/want PMOA quote for comparison as I shop.
  17. Thanks. That's what I thought I'd heard (just couldn't recall from where). Also from what I remember the main cost of any clutch work in the MINI comes from the labor as the entire front end has to come off. A one-time clutch replacement at the dealership was enough to cover the cost of the extended warranty (again, from my foggy memory). The AAA guy was trying to tell me how I didn't need the clutch option as the only way I was going to need a new clutch under 100K miles was if I didn't know how to drive one. I had to explain to him that warranty coverage isn't for covering what should happen, it's for covering what shouldn't.
  18. I thought MINI's did. I'll be at PMOA tomorrow to pick my MINI back up. I don't expect to use them due the astronomical cost, but I need the info to compare them to others.
  19. I was there about 9:15-ish, I had a 9:30A appointment with the TSA Precheck office. I did a quickie lap to attract (your) attention, but I was in a Countryman loaner from PMOA so you might not have given me much attention even if you did see me.
  20. Getting time, I'm just over 47K. I checked on AAA, they don't cover the clutch. :banghead:
  21. I was at the Alexandria Commons shopping center on Duke street this morning and saw this beautiful MINI parked in front of the Staples in a spot far, far away from everybody else. Looks familiar :-)) Unfortunately when I'd completed my business the MINI was gone.
  22. Cool. Different logistics in the rear of my Clubbie (which I can't show you a pic of as she's at PMOA for the entire holiday weekend and I'm driving loaner Stormtrooper Countryman) Where you've drilled your hole is the exact location of the power port in my boot (yep, Clubbies have a 2nd one back there). I've been trying to figure out how to duplicate the existing lighting that is on one side in the boot to the other. I know the trick for installing the 2nd reverse light is getting an OEM UK one, but I haven't investigated very far in doing the same with the boot light.
  23. So let it be written. So let it be done. Ali, when?
