  1. I haven't signed us up yet, we're still juggling schedules. But if we do go, I'll sweep. Or, I can ride along and call out wild game and fowl along the way
  2. MoS prices are high. Passport does the exact same oil change, and it's less than 1/2 what MoS charges. Look up the guy with a Silk Green Justa, with probably over 500,000 miles on his car by now. He's followed the computer's recommendation for oil changes, for the entire time he's owned the car. Remember, the computer is calculating time/miles between changes. You still have to top the oil off, as needed. Try Mach V in Sterling. They're right at $100 or less, and they do top-notch work. :top: -Jim
  3. On the way home from Leesburg last night, passed a MINI with the plate "GUS GUS". He waved wildly, as did Jennifer.
  4. Someone in a silver S came to visit my neighbor the other day. VA tag SMLZILLA. Waved, didn't get a chance to talk to him.
  5. It doesn't say anything about 'stay in your lane' or similar, does it?
  6. I thought Jan had issues tuning 2011+ MINIs (except JCW). Did the encryption get figured out?
  7. At the Pentagon 'junior officer' = 1-star and below. I remember as an E6 saying 'good morning sir' to a Brig Gen on the stairs between floors, and he seemed pleasantly surprised that someone actually spoke to him!
  8. Not necessarily a mod, but one of the best suggestions I got from Haemish, I believe, is to mount my EZPass onto the rear sunroof panel. I've had it this way since I bought my first MINI, and haven't had an issue yet. Obviously doesn't work if you don't have a sunroof
  9. I'm with Alan. I'll pass. I don't even visit NAM or MotoringAlliance anymore.
  10. Never mind - sold the car.
  11. Mods - please move if this is the wrong area http://www.motoringfile.com/2012/01/15/mini-usa-announces-water-pump-recall-affecting-79000/#disqus_thread Copied/pasted from the article: The Issue The issue involves the electric auxiliary water pump on models that are equipped with the N14 turbo engine. The auxiliary pump is controlled electronically by an engine control unit. After switching off the engine, the electric auxiliary water pump conducts heat away from the turbocharger. Under certain conditions, the pump’s electronic circuit board can malfunction. The malfunction can occur as a result of certain design features in combination with high operating temperatures. If the water pump can fails, there’s a slight chance that the circuit board can overheat. And in an extreme case, overheating of the circuit board can lead to smoldering of the water pump. If smoldering occurs, this may also lead to an engine compartment or vehicle fire. Models Affected Here’s the full list of Cooper S models affected: 2007-11 / Cooper S (Dec 2006 – Oct 2010) 2008-11 / Cooper S Clubman (Dec 2007 – Oct 2010) 2009-11 / Cooper S Convertible (Dec 2008 – Oct 2010) 2009-11 / John Cooper Works (JCW) (Jun 2008 – Oct 2010) 2009-11 / John Cooper Works (JCW) Clubman (Jun 2008 – Oct 2010) 2009-11 / John Cooper Works (JCW) Convertible (Apr 2009 – Oct 2010) 2011 / Cooper S Countryman (Nov 2010 – Jan 2011)
  12. Is DCMM involved in this? http://www.cafepress.com/motd_store.605690424 Just wondering if this will supersede the DCMM MOTD t-shirt we've had made up the past couple of years.
  13. We're signed up. No events, 4 drives (2 each Thursday and Friday). We'll be getting in on Sunday or Monday, so we'll do the other things we want to do on our own
  14. Not gonna make it - waiting to hear back from the vet, regarding one of my cats.
  15. Mach V sells them, I believe. And I'm pretty sure Craig and a few other folks have done brake jobs on their MINIs.
  16. Weather permitting I'm going to try to make this one.
  17. I bought 2 Groupons about 2 years ago. Took a little while to get an appointment, as the guy was a bit overwhelmed with business due to the Groupon. They did an ok job on Jennifer's Subaru. But, you get what you pay for. If you're expecting a knock-out detail job, where even the door jambs are sparkling, you're not gonna get it with a Groupon. But they'll do a decent job, for 'most' people. Car enthusiasts aren't 'most' people.
