TGGRRR (Ali) Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 I found a plasti-dip alternative. It's really expensive, but if you're wanting to do the entire car, it might not be a bad alternative. Also, it comes in any color you want! http://www.alsacorp.com/paint_wrap/paint_wrap.html In case you don't want to get rid of all of your chrome, you can use this... http://alsacorp.com/strechchrome/index.html So I did some research on the paint wrap and found this thread on the DipYourCar site http://www.dipyourcar.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-406.html They did some testing against PD and said this stuff didn't hold up as well. They also state that a lot of the pics on the site are actually cars done in PD and stolen pics from other sites. If you scroll down far enough they eventually talk about the test results. TGGRRR (Ali) Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Wow. That's not good. I Know!!! Alta is well regarded for their chrome, but before buying the paint wrap, we should research more. And the stuff isn't cheap Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
GreenCactus Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 I wasn't going to buy any. Way too expensive and too much work to paint a whole car, but yeah, research before spending that much.

jcooper Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 I love the plastidip look however i'm always really hesitant about some DIY projects. I always think that i'll end up messing something up pretty bad. Does anyone know of a paint shop/place where I can take my MINI in to have it done for me? I'm sure its easy i'm just on the more cautious side when it comes to paint.
1975_mini Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Thats is the best part of plasti-dip, if you screw up just peal off and try again. What are you looking to do or have done:questionmark: 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels

Not to sure on a shop but I am more than willing to help/do what ever you need done...I plan on adding some Blue blaze to mine next weekend...Once you do it once you will be more than confident enough to try other tricks with it....The best part is if you don't like it you can just peel it off with no repercussions ________________________________________________________________ [sIGPIC]http://www.motoringalliance.com/gallery/data/500/nh21003.jpg[/sIGPIC] 2004 MC JB/W CVT DSC H/K R50 "Operation De-Chrome" 90% Complete
