Hi ,Today I let Miss .Daisy rest she had a rough week. I had to go to downtown Baltimore on Monday and Fri which is a 2 hour drive 1 way. But the great news was I was getting 53 mpg. And with the fast prices that was so awesome!! She also just turn 180k in 19 years!! All is well and her and I look forward to going to Richmond next weekend to see The Devon Allman Project and Samantha Fish ,Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie) and the River Kittens on Sunday night in Hope well,VA and then Marc Broussard on Monday night! Rock on✌️♥️🍄🎶

Sounds like your sweet old lady can still hang with the best of them! She’s had a long week but she’s still killing it!

Registration has opened for NCC's one and only 2022 Novice School session. This is a great opportunity for new participants to learn more about the motorsport. I hope to see other MINIs out there. Please reach out if you have any questions! More details below:

    ---

Want to know what autocross is all about? Always wanted to come to an event, but didn't want to jump right in? Been to an event or 2 and want to learn the basics? Come out to the NCC Autocross 2022 Novice School!

This is the One and Only NCC Autocross School for the 2022 Season.

Autocross is a safe, low-speed motorsport where competitors drive against the clock to turn in the best times as they navigate a driving course defined by orange parking cones in a large, open lot. Our NCC Autocross school is the best way for new and budding autocross participants to learn more about autocross and improve their driving performance through in-car instruction by some of the best instructors in the Washington DC area.

Sessions will include a variety of topics to help novice participants better understand what goes on in a day of autocross, and what they will likely be seeing and hearing around them as they participate in the motorsport. Instruction will provide guidance on how to prepare both the car and driver for autocross, how to register, tech inspect, work a course, and safety topics will get you up to speed with the day-of operations for participating in autocross.

The morning will consist of drills, exercises, and instruction.  The afternoon will be a model of a regular autocross event, including a full autocross course. There is no better way to get started in autocross than with the NCC Autocross school.

Register now as space in our schools are limited to ensure small class groups and personalized instruction.

    Cost: $100

The rule is never trust a hydraulic or scissor jack with your life, always use a fixed jack-stand if you're going to be under the car.

It might just be the photo angle, it's hard to tell how everything lines up.  Assuming his head isn't actually under any part of the car, this is probably fine.

It was def the angle of the photo, he's just putting the clips on the flaps, which you probably can see hug the outside of the tire well, he was not "under the car."

I think my feathers are ruffled because it implies he's being stupid, when he's not, He knows his way around cars, and wouldn't risk getting under a jack by itself, we have all of the proper tools to lift a car, but it wasn't needed in this circumstance. We just needed the tire to rotate out a little more to reach the bottom clip, which he did from a safe place.

  4. From MOTD Yesterday:

    Per Fontana, they currently have
    8 Queen/Queen rooms
    6 cabins (2 and 3 bedrooms)
Just need to call 800-849-2258 and say you’re with MINI’s.

If you still need a room/cabin and want to stay at Fontana where all of the activities take place, I'd give them a call today to see if any are still available.

Hey,  I have a 2019 F60 and I keep getting A notification that there is a navigation update and asks me if I want to use it now (restart of nav requires) or later.  If I push now the nav opens but nothing else happens.  If I push later nothing happens.  It seemed like something should have loaded, but nothing ever does and it keeps coming up.  Anyone have any idea?  Anyone ever had that happen?

I'm not sure if this will help, but when I was having issues with my CarPlay, someone recommended this video for updating data. It made a difference for me. Maybe it might work for this issue as well? Update data (He gets into the how to part at .49 sec)

  6. I would like to get my windshield done with ceramic clear tint. I did all of my other windows in 2020 when I got my first MINI; but didn't really understand "ceramic" tint and all of its glorious benefits 🥵  so I didn't do the front.

*Bonus if I can get a 5" strip, at 30%, at the top (In compliance with Maryland state codes)

Don't we have a "guy" here that does it? I know there have been tint gatherings in the past at a discounted price, so I'd like to give my business to someone who supports the club.

    Thanks ~Lorri

I think posting updates here is fine, I had just forgotten to turn on Follow Topic. Maybe if the forum could be set up to have the Follow Topic default to Yes if a member has posted a message?

That's a great suggestion. Maybe, @SneakyBaron can weigh in if that's doable?

Also, thanks for the info on MOTG, another one this MINI newbie has never heard of. I will post something about it on SM later this week about that event as an alternative to MTTS.

Oooops, ya caught me,. not on social media .
But I also hadn't checked "follow topic" on this forum, so if an update was posted about the lunch plan, my bad, I wouldn't get it.
    It all worked out ...

I'm glad it did, it was nice to see you on Saturday Susan.

For thought, Are there other ways we could be updating members on run details, and important info for those not on social media?

Ugh - last time I looked the lunch spot was TBD .. just now realized it's BYOPL .. might have to find some place to stop before we get to the park ..

Yes, we did remind everyone on our SM platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) on Thursday that this was a picnic lunch. The wind seems to have died down and it should be around 48° by lunch. We recommend bringing a blanket to sit on, it will keep your bum toasty!

Finding us should be pretty easy (You will hear us before you see us - pop pop pop, bang! bang!); CATCHING us.....  Good luck!

I may not have a JCW but my S will get up and go well enough to catch up with ya! 😆

  11. @1975_mini I just realized that because of MOTD day drive registration opening up at 9:00 am on Saturday, and it being a little over an hour to Burke for us. We may have to catch up with you all along the route. I'm going to register immediately after MOTD opens the gates but we still would not be able to make the 10:00 wheels up in time.

No worries though, shouldn't be to hard to find 17 MINIs driving down the road!!

Yes, my email said May, so I signed up and just noticed the change of date. I left the RSVP to Yes at this point. I was actually looking forward to it being "in lieu of the drive to the Dragon" for any not making it there this year :-)

I understand completely, unfortunately. while we are working hard to encourage members to volunteer to lead runs this season, we still don't have our schedule full at this point. So to have two runs in May (Crack Pie and this one) didn't make sense when we had open months to fill.

I hope you can make it in June. We were out tweaking the route a little yesterday and we have some gorgeous twisty roads on this run.

Ok, if the weather gods are kind, I will go up to PA tomorrow and pick up my first Mini, a new to me 19 F60 S All4 in BRG.  If not, then it will be Tuesday.  Can't wait, going to have to pick a name.  I have had Audis and Volvos who were all female (a couple of each).  None of my other cars have had names...For some reason Nigel or Trevor are both coming to mind, but I will wait until I pick it up and drive it a bit...

I hope you're still able to get up to PA to pick up your MINI? What's the update?
