First time mini owner. Looking for recs on best hitch for a new hardtop 4 door (for bike rack), where to buy it and best place in DMV to get it installed.  Mini’s Roof mounted bike rack doesn’t work for me.  I’m too short to reach.  Thanks

I got mine done at U-Haul (2020 F60 Countryman) I was only able to get a 1 1/4 receiver but it holds 2 bikes with no issues. The Tech that did mine in Hagerstown said that they are often contracted by the dealerships to add them for clients because most dealerships won't do them.

I had another happy hour come up that same night, so I'm looking for a new date. Does anyone have any feedback on weekday evenings in September? I can do any other day. If I don't hear anything, I'll just pick the 21st, another Wednesday.

Sept 21 is an open date. We are having our annual club meeting (25th) and the Tri-State HSB (18th), which puts all of our activities for Sept in one week, what's everyone's thoughts on that?

  3. For those of you not on social media, and may be new to the run, or just forgot, only our 3rd stop, Misty Meadow Farm has lunch type food. 🍔🌭

(South Mountain Creamery has some baked goods, and the last stop in Virginia, Backstreet Brews, has a small lunch/brunch menu)

If you do not wish to wait until the 3rd stop, or wait in the looooong line at Misty Meadow, you may want to bring a bag lunch. South Mountain and Misty Meadow have tables for eating.

**I have warned Rocky Point and Misty Meadow that we are coming (South Mountain always seems to be well staffed)

We are going to be vacationing down hear the dragon, so we are going to try to check it out finally.

For those of you experienced going there, and you had a couple hours, what are must stop spots for photos and for a drive?

I was hoping some of our other members that have been there multiple times would have jumped in by now, but I'll give you my two cents.

I love driving the Dragon itself, but my favorite drive was to Bald River Falls in the Cherokee National Forest.

I'd also recommend making a free account here: MINIs On The Dragon to access all of the runs we do when we do MOTD.

    Have a great vacation!

  5. I'm starting to outline the September newsletter, does anyone want to run point on the September Happy Hour?  DC is an option as is Alexandria or Fairfax, but really, anywhere if someone is willing to lead this one.

  6. My B Pillar, and my D Pillar have pretty significant scratch damage to them. Has anyone fixed theirs?

I don't think polish is going to work for my damage so I'm considering using a film/vinyl wrap and I was wondering how successful this route would be. My car is a 2020 so I hate that those pillars look so bad already.

Does anybody know how to change the route options on the navigation system? I somehow changed it to "avoid highways" and I can't figure out how to change it back--it's making road trips take way too long ;). I drive a 2017 Mini convertible if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I found this video on YT. At around the 5 minute mark he talks about how to change this. I hope it helps

I'm from Wilmington. Family home is just this side of the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge.😀

I did a brief stint at UNCW 1000 years ago, love WB. Don't get back there as much as I used to sadly, unless a family member passes. We should compare notes, we may be related, I'm related to most people from NC 🤣

I have 2 10x10 ez up canopies in my roadster ready for tomorrow and 2 boxes of mixed chips

We found a canopy that will fit in my MINI, so we have another 10x10 of shade 😎

This is great news guys. I think we'll have 5 canopies now.

  11. If you plan to run to the track from either Leesburg or Point of Rocks please let us know where you are joining the run.

If you're joining in Leesburg you must be there at 7:15, we will leave at 7:30 (This is a hard 7:30, we will not wait for you).

If you are joining at PoR you must be there at 8:00, (The Leesburg group should arrive at 8:10) we will all leave at 8:15.

We are expected at Summit Point at 9:00 am, the staff will be waiting for our arrival which is why we must stick to the time frame.

Please see all of the details posted by Corey at the top of this thread

(Saintcross' will be joining at Point of Rocks)

  12. So it appears the weather for Sunday is going to be "Devils armpit" hot. 🥵

We encourage you to bring umbrellas for shade. 🏖️ ☂️ We know you can't put canopies and such in your Littles, but hand held umbrellas will also work. We will have two 10 x 10 canopies, but the food will take up one of them.

We also suggest you leave your furry friends at home this time. 🐾

And if you have a clean squirt bottle, fill it with water for misting.

🚗🚙 Our cars will be parked where we are picnicking track side, so you can always jump in the car, crank up the AC, and chill for a bit if you get too hot.

Last, we will not have access to water track side (Although there is a building with bathrooms) so please bring extra water for cooling off. The club will be providing water for drinking. 🚰

Please post any other ideas for keeping cool

Following the same idea as the August NOVA thread, I'm curious if there'd be interest in a happy hour in the district. I know the DC contingent is pretty small, but maybe folks are downtown for work already and would want to stick around.

Would anyone be interested in a happy hour in DC some evening in September? I could put something together if there's interest.

I moved this over to the public event thread so more people could see it.

I think a DC happy hour would be great. Might be a little too far for me, but I'm sure there are other DC area folk that can attend.

So maybe I'm missing something in the "Car Corral Event" page or this signup for the Picnic. Nowhere does it ask about bringing a guest or significant other, so how do we really know how many people are going to be there? I'm bringing a guest and imagine, I'm not the only one. I've been accused of "man looking", so perhaps there's another sign-up to reflect a total number attending?

You are correct, we do not have the ability to add that to the RSVP section, so most are just letting us know. A lot of us have couples memberships even if our spouse is not registered on this forum, so I'm assuming (Because that's always wise) that most of us signing up will have a plus 1. I'm sure the grill master is taking that into consideration on his hot dog count 😉

But I will remind everyone to let us know how many +++ they're bringing on SM.

We can bring cups. Suggestion for size and number?

We currently have 18 people signed up with probably another 15 in plus one's, so 50 Solo size cups should be good.

I see you need cups and cutlery, what about plates and napkins?

Also let me see if I can strap a canopy in the roadster

The club already has those "In stock" and our cup requirement is now filled. Would you prefer to bring cutlery? Or, we really need the food, chips, or fruit requirements filled, so one of those would be better.

Also, would love to see you on the run with a canopy strapped to the roadster 🤣

Going to try to make it, but there's some stuff up in the air with my father that I'm waiting to hear about.

If I can make it, I'll show up with something, but can't commit just yet. I will not show up empty handed though and it would more than likely lean towards a dessert.

That sounds good, hope all goes well with your dad.
