  1. Post run is stilll a little up in the air for us. This will be my longest set time since surgery. . . I know it sounds silly, the "New" side feels GREAT, but, the old, to be replaced soon side, sucks 8 different types of ass. . .it just gets raw. At any rate, I am just SO STOKED to be there in the AM, I can't wait. Sounds duper dorky, and cheesy I know, but this is like a big deal for me! First MINI run in a year, first real drive in 14 weeks, and this is looking like a record turn out! Get to see a lot of old friends, and we should ALL be meeting a bunch of new ones! I am just tickled, lol!
  2. I'm assuming that is post run?
  3. Camera gear ready to go= Check Blanket = Check MINI Cleaned and Shined= Check Found Flags from last 2= Check Batteries on radios Charged= Check * I do have an extra radio should someone need/want to borrow one* Looking SO forward to getting out and about with the MINI Peeps, will be my first "long" drive since surgery, SO STOKED! Can't wait to see some old friends, and meet some new ones tomorrow!
  4. Pretty cool, thanks for posting.
  5. I just want one, like the eye of Mordor.
  6. I had no idea it was such serious business, lol. Might try to make it out to take some pics. Looking forward to seeing everyones creations.
  7. Interesting, and awesome! Thanks for the tip, Craig!!
  8. The parts aren't all that bad. . . the labor, well, lets just say: The front of your MINI has to come off, and it isn't pretty. Figure a full 3-5 days for labor if dealing with a shop. I had my clutch upgraded under 2 days after driving it off the lot, went to visit, was SHOCKED to see the whole front end of my 2003 on the ground, I almost cried. Because it was all under warranty, I didn't worry, but, to see the car in such a state of disrepair, I NEVER thought it would come back together (and this is after me rebuilding 2 of my of my own cars, back in the day). End of the day, life is good. . . but, it's NOT a small job. Find a shop that knows what they are doing, buy your own parts to supply them with, and cross your fingers, hope for the best.
  9. should be a pretty simple, straight forward fix. . . though I am not sure why a curb check would throw things off. . . it's either a motor, breaker, or a whole assembly. I am not even sure why a curb check would even effect your window, period. Check your connections. If it didn't set off your airbags, then I am not sure how this would have changed the motor function of the window. You found stock wiring, from what I see... if your airbag didn't go off, then it should be a simple fix. Stay alert, please.
  10. Hey all, just a quick question, sorry for the wall of text. . . . I am sorry in advance if this has been discussed, but I just haven't seen anything, or found anything while searching. Is anyone familiar with this product? http://www.gtacarkits.com/mini_cooper_2001_2006_car_kit.php I had found ONE thing saying a person had connected it, their brake lights wouldn't turn off, they disconnected it and everything was fine. They returned it with NO issues, and they said the company was very professional. http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/navigation-and-audio/210787-gta-ipod-kit-causes-electrical-issue.html BUT, after going through the reviews form customers on the site, that were MINI specific, there are some glowing reviews. . . Just wondering if there was any other real world experience with this. The price point is attractive, the install looks SUPER easy, and fits the needs I am looking for. Looks to be a far better alternative than just getting the AUX cable/adapter from Way, but, I have posted this question on 2 other MINI Boards, and LOADS of looks, NO REPLIES. If you can tolerate the dudes voice, there is a video for the install and demo of the product, I really want to order, but I would also really like some feedback from anyone who already knows. Craig, Edge, I know you both are really versed in the electrical side of MINI (but I know mine is 1st Gen) Any help would be appreciated!!
  11. Count Dana and I in, for sure!
  12. Great to have met some new faces, and great to see some old friends too!! Congrats to the new Board Members, and thanks all for another well thought out, put together, and executed meeting! was GREAT to get out for a change!!
  13. Is it the upstairs room, to the right(if coming in from the back lot)? I am not going to be able to stay for the whole deal, as I am not sure how my body will be sitting in a bar stool, and standing for all that long. . . well, that aint gonna happen. mainly going just to see folks. That lot is gonna be FULL, and full of MINI's!! Should be quite the site! *****EDIT*** Duh, saw where you said the rooms, good stuff as that is also the "non-smoking" side too.
  14. That's a given, was just trying to avoid the drive out there since I am limited in seat time. Thanks though!
  15. Does anyone know of any exhaust/muffler place in Fairfax that is "One Ball" friendly? I have read, and heard, that most any place can do it, and do it relatively cheaply(like $50 or so), but the few places I called had NO IDEA what I was talking about. These are some of the same places that want to charge me $500 to weld in a new resonator, and mount the 2 piece Alta Spottone exhaust I have sitting. . . but $500 seems RIDICULOUS for that, so was thinking one ball mod. Was behind a MINI today that you could see had the mod( to the MINI tuned eye), and it certainly sounded more throaty, a little more decel burble, and I LIKE IT. So, anyone have any first hand experience with this mod in the NOVA, Fairfax/Arlington/Annandale/Falls Church?
  16. Splitter looks good, not too bad of an install either. How long did it set ya back? Seems like I am going to have to take the bumper off at some point to install my black out grill, might as well do a splitter too if I am having the bumper off, lol.
  17. I called and talked with Debbie, the wife of the owner, and she couldn't have been more helpful! She is sending out a few inserts, a few "adapters" and also a non- threaded thread reducer kit and we are going to take it from there. The only thing she charged me for is the Shift knob, and the Non threaded adapter, she even waived S&H!! said I should have it by the weekend, so we'll see what happens! Great customer service, will update once I see how things go together. BTW, Her son is a MINIac with a 2003 R53, when asked about my MINI, and told of my little hints to Hawaii/Polynesian Culture, agreed that this knob would be great! I am stoked.
  18. Found it, on, my damn GPS wasn't locked in(not sure why that would matter when searching the group pool), but all sorted. Thanks!
  19. I have searched, and searched. . . .no dice. . . . I dunno, can't find us anywhere:(
  20. Thanks mike, and I t would be a MUCH longer story. .. of ALL the days for her to do that, it couldn't have been any better. . . . it was one of those few days in life, where I felt like everything I touched turned to sh*t, NOTHING was working out with anything I was trying to accomplish, and one of those days where I felt like I should have never even gotten out of bed. She is so awesome to me, I still just can't believe it, and am not quite sure how I got so lucky to have her in my life(and it's not just the camera thing, it is SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH more than that).
  21. In keeping with my hearts love for the Polynesian culture, and Li'Ili'I Ka'a, I have found a shift knob that I would LOVE to get, but need some help. Recently got a MEGAN Short Shifter(thanks, Mike), and figure if it is knob-less, why not a customized piece of kit on. This is the one I would like, it's a Moai(most of the Tiki ones I have found, I'm just not feeling): http://www.hotrodshiftknob.com/servlet/-strse-612/easter-island%2Cbrezel%2Ctiki%2Cblack-tiki%2Ctiki-shift/Detail BUT. . . with the stock MINI shift Knob being thread-less, and just a press fit. . . the new short shift having threads, , but unknown size, I am at a loss. I have looked at the MEGAN site, and all over, can't find the thread size for the short shift kit, and do I need to even worry about it if there is a press fit option, BUT THEN, there is no mention of that on the site to purchase the Knob. . .OR anywhere for the Megan MINI shift kit. Anyone following what I am asking/getting at? I guess, I need to know if anyone knows the thread size, or, do I even need to worry about it? Anyone have any experience with this? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!
  22. Right on! Btw, again, I really appreciate you stopping by, and handing off the short shifter! It was great to meet you, and I look forward to seeing you out on some runs once I get myself put back together. You guys had a great afternoon, by the sounds of it. But, a bad day of turning wrenches is better than a good day of work. I love working on cars.
  23. Hot DAMN, I am loving the Countryman! Nutty is one GREAT looking Storm Trooper, and you threshold mod will certainly save wear and tear! :top:
  24. My lovely ladyfriend(some of you all know her), Dana came to my hose Friday, with pics to share of a project at her mothers house. Once done looking through the pics, she hands me a warranty card, to which my response was something along the lines off, "a warranty card for 15 pics?", she informed me it was for my camera. . . . . confused, I said WHAT camera?. . . she said your NEW camera, goes out, comes back in, and in front of my sits a brand new, Nikon D7000! She knew I had been beating around a few ideas, but I was torn between full frame, and just upgrading from my trusty ole D80, but stopped even dreaming of upgrading because of the slew of medical bills I know are coming(I just had total hip replacement), so figured in a couple of years, I would look at the Nikon D600. Right now, full frame is just a LOT of camera for me, and I think I get by just fin with a DX, so FX I put off the table. I am still shocked, still amazed, and still just so immensely overwhelmed that she did that, and so far, I have just been amazed at the camera. Sorry for the long reply, but I want to give Dana all the credit, as it's the most amazing, and certainly the most thoughtful gift I Have EVER received, "just because". What a woman!
  25. That actually is pretty spot on to the height/fitment would like to shoot for. Looks great, and good form, but it's not form over function. Let us know after a while how it is for your daily! :top::top:
