Just got the results of the Blackstone labs oil analysis. Background: Picked up my new MCS in November, changed the oil and filter at 1500 miles used Mobil1 and a Mini filter. Sampled the oil at 6500 miles (5K on the oil). Looks like 7K miles is about right. First oil sample.pdf First oil sample.pdf

I changed the oil in my 2010 MCS at 1500 miles, and just sent a oil sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis at 6500 miles, (5K on the oil). I'll report when I get the results As an aside, if anyone wants to change their oil, I have a lift, and any tools. I accept donations to help cover the cost of me taking the used oil to the dump. Do yourself a favor and have the oil changed. (Pay for it yourself if you have too) Mini seems to think that 17,000 miles is just fine for an oil change interval. But all they really care about is having the car make it past warranty time. After that, they will be glad to have you buy a new engine. If the car is still under the 3 year free maintenance program, they will perform the oil service, every year regardless of mileage left before the computer says so.

We need to do this for the Maryland people.

I bet if you used 35% film, the total is less... I had to use something like 50% on my BMW to keep it legal. I just don't need more reasons to attract unwanted attention.

I'd be worried about getting pulled over by the cops. Anything less than 35% total is asking for trouble.

Right after I got my MCS I ordered another set of 16" wheels and Michelin Pilot Alpin3's from tire rack. Funny thing is I didn't even bother to try to go out in the snow...

I gave Goeff his first oil change at 1500 miles. Who was the twit the designed the oil filter housing and location?..lol Anyway, drain, oil filter and refill, clean up the mess... Just a picture of Goeff on the lift in the garage.

Sorry, I was being a little flip... It also helps to lube the rubber seals around the door and windows. BMW used to have a substance, Gummipflege, (sp?), it lubes and conditions rubber seals. I believe it only comes in spray now? Also Wurth makes a good product as does Zymol. Anyway, condition the seals, or you may find the door won't open, and / or the window won't go down

Yea, it's called ICE! You are honestly saying you have never had a door or window get frozen shut? With all the ice storms we get in the MAR? They do sell these things called ICE SCRAPERS in the stores. They work wonders...lol
