  1. Sounded awesome on TIGGR but i could hardly believe it's the same exhaust. . .
  2. Was I pulling out of the storage unit there? I think I remember seeing another mini right out there last night. I am indeed hyper blue and was there at 10pm straight up (dropping the old exhaust into my storage unit.) Nope, that's the new exhaust. . .still pretty loud but not nearly as loud as the old one. . .Again, the old one sounds very similar to the new one, just louder. Thanks for the compliments!
  3. Was great seeing everyone again, loved seeing all the new mods!
  4. So here are the specs of the exhuast: -RMW Hushpower exhaust -100% stainless steel -Hand fabricated "hushpower" mufflers -3" midpipe with a Magnaflow racing cat (I can't find the specs but it was supposed to be the best flowing 3" cat at the time) -2.25" secondary pipes (after the exhaust splits and goes around the battery box) -3" tips (these aren't 3" megaphone tips like the magnaflow. . .these are pipes, big stinking huge pipes) -This is the best flowing exhaust you can get for your mini. . .the folks at RRT (that installed the replacement exhaust) said it would easily support 700hp if you threw it at it. The exhaust was hand fabricated to Jan at RMW's specs back in 2009, all the work was done by the same shop that fabricates all of the RMW exhuasts, headers and has done all the work on Jan's 400hp race mini. Anyone from the club that's heard the exhaust will attest that this is the most rediculous sounding exhuast anyone has heard on a mini (granted I am running the 2.0L race headers as well.) If you want docile, you don't want this exhuast, if you want mean and nasty, this exhaust was made for you. With my race headers and 2.0 engine, it sounds like i'm running a small block V8 with glass packs. I just installed a magnaflow catback on my car and the RMW exhaust sounds very similar but is quite a bit louder and the burble pop pop is much much louder. There really wasn't more drone than the magnaflow (not much) again, just louder. Why am I selling it? I live in a quieter part of arlington. . .setting off car alarms when I leave for work has been getting me complaints at my condo association and glares from the suits when driving around clarendon. Is there anything that needs to be done to the exhaust so it will fit my car: YES! The exhaust is put together with V bands using boltup or slip joints. You will need to have an exhuast shop either modify the exhaust so it will bolt up to yours or have them fabricate an adapter to hook it up to your exhuast. Is there anything wrong with the exhaust? YES! There are 4 cracked welds on the exhuast that need to be patched. RRT said it would take about 2.5 hours worth of labor to fix it up perfect. They have already marked the exhuast where it needs to be fixed up. The cracks are there because I have a bad tune and have been running crazy rich which makes your EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperatures) run very high. The extreme heat along with running through puddles cracked a couple welds. If you're running a proper tune you shouldn't have an issue. If you have your own exhaust shop you want to work with, make sure they have the equipment/expertise to work with stainless. RRT out in Sterling did an absolutely gorgeous job on doing some custom modifications to my new exhaust, they charge $105 an hour. And finally. . .I'd like to get $500 for the exhaust. That may sound like a lot for a used exhuast that needs some work but this was hand fabricated by one of the best mini shops in the country and was just stupidly expensive. I originally wanted to get a lot more out of it but since it needs some work I'm letting it go for a lot less. I'll get some pics posted up in the next few days.
  5. Be happy to show you my setup, I come to mini meets whenever I can. I'm running an older version of Jeff's HFS-3 (If I remember correctly, I have one of the first 3 HFS-3's in the states. . .the other two are on Longboards and Jeff's minis.) He set me up with a pretty neat little custom 1 gallon tank and mounting bracket that fits on the little jack clips in the boot. Lots of info on his website. http://howertonengineering.com/ I'd love to read up on those docs, do you have digital copies you could shoot my way?
  6. Hey Tron, Just got word that the last of the parts arrived at RRT and they should have my car finished tomorrow. I'll be picking up the old RMW exhaust if you want to take a look.
  7. >Tigger has the Pulley, CAI and exhaust and I love it. I also upgraded the brakes to Hawk ceramic on the advice of a friend. He said if I'm going to add power I >should also upgrade the braking. Plus I upgraded the rear sway bar. If you're not going to track your car, go with the R56 brakes. They're a tremendous upgrade from the R53 stockers but won't break the bank (no pun intended). If I remember correctly, the R56 brakes are the same as the R53 JCW brakes.
  8. Did you have the OEM LSD before or were you just open before?
  9. I'm using it for cooling (seen up to a 50* delta in IAT), fuelling and octane. Don't worry, I'm very aware of what the whole setup does. I'm using an aquamist 3 system installed by Howerton Engineering (he produces the methanol injection setup that RMW uses.) I have a dedicated tank in my boot and am running teflon lined AN hoses from the Methanol pump up to the nozzle which is tapped into the supercharger horn. Every part of the system installed was designed to be run with Methanol. . .this was in no way a hacked together system. The Methanol injection itself was tuned by Jan from Revolution Mini. . .currently I only have the one map for injection (got to make sure I don't run out of alky) but at the moment I'm working on getting a standalone ECU running properly and from that we'll have a second map that the ECU will switch to if we there's a blip in pressure in the methanol lines. With the injection I burn through maybe half to a full gallon of methanol per tank of gas depending on how I drive during that tankful.
  10. I'm running methanol injection on Alice. Extra fuelling and keeps the intake charge cool. . .picked up another 20 or so hp on the last tune.
  11. So here's a stretch. . .I'm trying to find a source for methanol (extra fuelling to keep Alice happy.) Anyone know of a source? I already asked Mach V and he didn't seem to know of anyone close. Any ideas?
  12. Holy cow! you could set someone on fire with all those lights! Looks awesome
  13. Had a great time! It was nice to see some of you again and meet a few more of you. Thanks again for use of the garage, was appreciated more than you know!
  14. Got the tool dropped off with Ali so you should be good to go. Cheers! Hopefully I'll be able to make it by on Sunday. Beau
  15. I'll hand mine of to TGGGRRR tonight in case I have something come up on Sunday but I'll count on seeing you guys then.
  16. I'm good on oil but I've got some misc tinkering that I've been needing to do. I wouldn't mind having a driveway to do it in as my condo gets cranky with me tearing my car apart in the parking garage. Could also bring along the belt tensioner tool for Brian.
  17. I'm running one of the adjustable ones. . .I *think* it's the alta and I love it. Install is clean and easy. Probably took an hour on jackstands. Adjustment is easy, just pull the boot, loosen a set screw (or was it two) with an allen wrench, slide it out and tighten it back down. So the deal is, a short shifter changes the disgances between the shift armature and the pivot point. The shorter your throw the stiffer the shifting is. At the tightest setting it's pretty tough but not unmanagable. I keep mine about half between stock and it works great. If you'd like, I I'll bring some allen wrenches to the next meet so you can get a feel of the full range of motion on the shifter. Cheers! Beau
  18. Magnaflow! Awesome, I love the sound of those! Congrats!
  19. The rate Jan gives on his site is $350 but that's his rate and doesn't include the cost for dyno time.
  20. Woo hoo Tigger's got a new set of pipes! What'd you put under her?
  21. Was going to suggest the Hankook ventuses. . .but 235's wow. That's a lot of meat. How wide are the rims you're running? I've only tried the Kumho's of that group and had pretty good luck with them.
  22. Hey Violet, It's not infinitely less expensive but I do have a new in the box uninstalled stratsmosphere exhuast for sale in the parts section for about $100 off retail. I'd even help you install it for free if you'd be interested!
