  1. LOL it's a dog (greyhound)-related event - we won't be using the new wheels
  2. We have another event we'll be attending. As it gets warmer, I foresee a lot of conflicts
  3. Thanks for putting this together. It was nice to see Colin and all of those that came out. FYI for those that may have seen Colin wearing a bowling shirt with the name 'Jim' on it...long story
  4. I'll talk to Jennifer and see if we can make this. Would be nice to see Colin again.

    MINIs on Top

We had planned on it, but we're coming up short on vacation days. Maybe next year.
  6. URL no worky. But http://www.isherri.wordpress.com does :top:
  7. Did any of you that went to MOTD get a good look at it? I wouldn't know if it's worth asking price. If I know that, I'd share the post.
  8. Best comment in the thread. 10/10 would read again.
  9. I just realized that we won't be in town Saturday due to prior commitments. Oops.
  10. Bumping to the top for awareness. :top:
  11. Thanks for leading the run, Haemish :top: The group size was just about right in my opinion, and the weather wasn't too shabby either. Jennifer and I had a great time, and it was nice seeing old friends and meeting up with new ones. Thanks also to Alex for sweeping and taking care of our 6
  12. Evergreen Mills 'seemed' okay to us last weekend. We just returned from driving Snickersville Turnpike to Lime Kiln, then Lime Kiln to 15. Here's the notable spots: 1. Starting from 7 on Snickerville, when you cross the 1-lane bridge, near the "3 Gables" farm 2. Between Colchester and Silicot Springs/St Louis Rd 3. Just entering Philomont, when the speed reduces 4. Leaving Philomont. There's an old cabin (circa 1700s) on the right side. 5. Right past Mountville Rd before Lime Kiln On Lime Kiln: 1. Near the Triple Hickory Ranch 2. Near Goose Creek Lane (right after crossing Goose Creek) 3. Crooked Bridge Lane 4. 7/10 mile from turning off 15. Note that the Lime Kiln potholes are listed in reverse-order, for tomorrow's run. So #4 is the first one you'll come to. I think that was one of the worst areas. That's all we got to check out. It appears that there was some repair work done in a few areas.
  13. We were on Evergreen yesterday, the entire length of it, traveling in the same direction we typically do for the Spring Fling. I'll confirm with Jennifer but I don't recall any significant issues from Ryan Road to Watson. I'll see if I have the time over the next couple of days to explore some of the other sections.
  14. I live within 3 miles of Snickersville Turnpike, and can do a progress check as we get closer to the event. Haemish - PM me a list of roads and/or sections, and I can pre-run 2-3 days before the Fling and see if there are any improvements. I'd concentrate on the pieces of the road we drive (mainly from 7 to Philomont). We're not on it long enough on the Lime Kiln side, to be too concerned. If there are other roads with issues that are relatively close, I can check those as well.
  15. Who knows, by the time the 19th comes around VDOT may have taken care of some of the potholes
  16. Extremely short notice but I saw this on a Leesburg Cars-n-Coffee page. Alamo Drafthouse in 1 Loudoun is doing a car show of sorts, today at 1PM. http://www.victory.drafthouse.com/j/ol/bHN0OjkzMDg6NjgxNTY3 EDIT: More infor here: http://drafthouse.com/blog/entry/alamo-one-loudoun-gets-furious?_m_utk=4bd754b3d8ef7a58d9e3a964f08c5c95
  17. "Originally conceived in 2013 by the local MINI dealer in Grand Rapids, the event quickly become part of MINI folklore as owners from all across the U.S. started motoring into town." "The current record of 1,450 MINIs in a parade was first set in 2009 by the London & Surrey Mini Owners Club, which filled the historic 2-mile auto racing circuit around the famous Crystal Palace Park in the UK’s capital city. Isn't the Spring Fling run used as a shake-down for the Dragon? It's usually ~3-4 weeks before folks head south for MOTD. I don't see the Spring Fling on this year's calendar (yet) but it's typically first or second weekend of April.
  20. Weather out here changed my mind. Was hoping to make it
  21. How about DIY? Should be simple, right? Have you checked out Crutchfield online? They seem to have the best guide as to what works/fits, what won't, and what parts are needed to plug-n-play. What's wrong with the Sony? (IOW - define 'possessed')

It's funny that BOW states they don't sell food. All I know is that when we were there, there were 3-4 different areas set up, selling BBQ, sandwiches, etc. You might ask to see if any of those food venues will be active. That said, Marshall has a few places, as does Linden. Both aren't too far away.
  23. I've heard of a 15 minute timer, but I wouldn't be surprised it's less than that. I would posit a guess that it's due to 1 of 2 reasons: 1. Constantly recirculating air could dry out the air in the cabin, causing nosebleeds and/or other issues. 2. The moisture taken out of the air is trapped in the filter and could cause mold / bacteria to grow, and fresh air helps alleviate this potential health hazard. Purely speculation on my part.
