  1. Bender was washed Saturday. He'll get a spruce-up tonight or tomorrow. Nigel might get washed tonight. I'll have a bucket of supplies for a wash at one point or another at Fontana. I need to pack, charge batteries, and do a final load of laundry. With any luck we'll roll out Wednesday morning before 6:30.
  2. I don't think quirky is the word they use
  3. So Ali are you saying we can drop our pants at your cabin?
  4. Welcome! :wavey:
  5. It's been suggested to us too, since 95 has more lanes and less truck traffic. But we're leaving Wednesday morning. We'd hit all sorts of DC commuter traffic.
  6. It might make sense for those DCMMers that live close to 95. For us though, we're ~20 miles from 81, so we'll be going that route.
  7. Ew. Ew ew ew.
  8. I thought the lower hand positions (5-7) were to help prevent arm injury in case of an airbag deployment. :questionmark: Less control that way, however. I recall the same thing from FCR, being told that it's cheaper to replace brakes and a clutch. But I think a little of both is the best approach.
  9. As long as you're adding options, can you add one in User Profiles to disable emoticons?
  10. Celia - I'll probably bail either after the fire station stop - if we have it - or somewhere in that vicinity. I live in that area, and could lead you along a few other twisties to get you to 287 - which turns into MD 17. From there you take 350 to 70
  11. I had similar concerns with an issue right before MTTS. I was assured that I'd be fine to drive to Denver and back, so I did. If the SA says you'll be fine, drive her. If you're in doubt, get a second opinion. If you don't want to drive but still want to participate, I have room for a co-pilot
  12. Since I traded in my blue Clubman and went to Silver, I won't be using the Union Jack mirror caps or scuttle inserts. 1. Set of 3 mirror caps. Outside ones came off non-powerfold mirrors. Inside cap has a hole for the non-auto dimming style. $100 for the set of 3. I won't split them up at this time. 2. Set of Union Jack scuttle inserts. You'll need the scuttle assembly that is usually a factory option. $80 for the pair. 3. Spare driver-side scuttle insert. $45. I'll sell it with the complete set for $105. All prices are for local pickup. Email for shipping costs. Thanks!
  13. We'll have GF beer :top:
  14. The only prevention for rock chips is to never drive your car At 2 mil thick it's just a matter of rock size vs rate of speed (yours and the rock's)
  15. Just a thought - before you buy that, head down to your local rent-a-truck place or self-storage place, and see what they charge for the large rolls of wrap. I'm not saying it's the same, but they're close.
  16. It's very slick and hard to rub off. No inherent danger, per se. Just easier to avoid getting it on the paint
  17. Are you coming to Haemish's party tonight? If so I'll bring you something that might help with Black Wow. FYI I've only used it once, some time ago, and I don't buy into the whole "use a pea size drop for a large section" because molecular structure can only break down and spread out so far; eventually you're just rubbing plastic with a dry cloth. I'd say, either do the black trim before washing, then wash everything - including the trim. Or, wash the trim with general purpose cleaner, wash and wax, then treat the trim. But tape off so the excess doesn't get onto the paint. The vinyl trim cleaners I have used have always been pretty messy and slick. -Jim
  18. The Mrs and I are probably going to hit the road around 6AM Wednesday, taking 7 to I-81, but from there I don't know if we'll take 26 or follow 81 further to 40.
  19. No snuggy for me. That's a static discharge waiting to happen.
  20. I like the idea of only one color - that means I won't be trying to buy 1 or 2 of each
  21. @Dan - put that person in touch with me. I have 1 new Rota RB Hyper Black w/ a new Kumho on it, AND a TPMS sensor, that I'll sell for cheap. -Jim
  22. Not sure if we'll be in town at 5 tonight. If so, we'll swing by. If not, we'll eat at the nearest UNO for MINI solidarity  No car wash though - did that in the wind yesterday :banghead:
  23. You were at MITM 2010? I probably have a photo of your car somewhere then
  24. I have one in mind. Expensive, but might be worth it. BTW - Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg fills growlers too.
