  5. I bought a dashcam a year ago and still haven't installed it, I really need to
  6. Got my dash cam set up. I bought a Thinkware Q800 and hardwired it using their available OBD II adaptor. The video is amazing. Has night vision, parking mode to monitor the car while it is parked, lane departure warning, etc. Great camera. Easy set-up. See attached video. REC_2020_06_27_17_02_36_F.MP4

  13. I actually decided to buy the Thinkware OBD II adaptor. It plugs directly into the port while still keeping a second port open for regular diagnostics and what not. Thanks for the response though.
  14. What is the required amp draw requiredfor ACC line, for constant wire straight from the battery with an inline fuse for the require Amp draw
  15. Has anyone hardwired a Dashcam to an F56? I just bought a Thinkware Q800 and have it plugged in, but would like to hardwire it so I can use motion detection while it is parked. Looks pretty simple to do, but I have no idea what fuses to connect to. Apparently, one wire goes to an ACC fuse, while the other goes to a constant power fuse. Does anyone know which specific fuses I should connect to? Thanks. Mike

  18. Check out MINI FINI or perhaps even give them a call. See the pic on this particular page. ( They've supported their fellow MINI owners with cool solutions for many years! Actually ran into one of the owners at MTTS a few years ago. ) I installed their sport link (leaves two little cylinders poking out that look like James Bond oil spray gadgets) on my R57 around 2012-2013. It took a little more work than I expected, but did it in the driveway one morning. All a matter of what one calls "not too difficult." Used it with an attachment base that included a 2" receiver hitch. I never towed with it... only used for a bike carrier. I don't have that car anymore, but I *think* I may still have the attachment base stuffed away somewhere. If you go the MINI FINI route, I would be happy to pass it on to another R57 owner... Cheers, Stephen
  19. MINI Masters, I'm still super new to the game but I have an urge to get a small camping trailer. Can we put tow bars on an R57 convertible? I keep going down the google rabbit hole but thought it best to come as y'all here. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Fish

  22. During the necessary replacement of my rear main oil seal I electively replaced my OE clutch with Valeo. The OE was working fine, has never been abused, but the throw-out bearing was occasionally making noise. I'll sell the OE flywheel, pressure plate, and driven disc (which still has lots of life left) to anyone local for $100.
  23. Well I finally got around to replacing the suspension on Watson. It was a much bigger PITA then switching out coil overs on the modern MINI. It took about 8 hours spread over a fewer days, a few detours along the way included removing the gas tank in the boot to access the top strut bolt and disconnecting brake lines in the front to remove the radius pins in the upper control arms. you can see in the photos that the rubber cones (springs) had compressed more than an inch and the struts did not really resist or rebound. So all new cones, adjustable trumpets to adjustable ride height and weight balance, and bilstein struts all around.
  24. Thanks everyone that joined us to make today an awesome run. We ended up with 15 MINIs on the run, keep your eyes open for another run soon.
  25. I just remember when we were putting Sirius into Max which is an '09, we researched this and decided to do the external Sirius connection because it was just easier than trying to replace the radio head or upgrade OEM (which was really expensive)
  26. We did a final check of key points on the route for tomorrow. We had to shift the lunch stop location due to bathroom accessibility. We will now be having are picnic stop at the C&O canal park in Brunswick, MD (address is updated in the calendar post), this knocks 15 minutes off the first leg. Everything looks great for tomorrow. Many people’s MINIs have been sitting so be sure you check your fuild levels, tires, etc... today. there is a gas station and Dunkin Donuts across from the start point if you need to fill up your MINI or yourself. Driver’s meeting at 9:45, wheel up at 10:00
  27. They can be replaced, you will require a block out kit that cleans up the dask integrated controls that @TGGRRR (Ali) is mentioning. Are the good? That is a personal opinion I am not really a fan of the look of any of the kits that allow you to put a head unit in. There are some android kits that blank all the lower control and replace the speedo with a setup like the nav screen operating everything like a modern touch screen. I do not know of anyone that has done this conversion or done the research on reviews.
  28. I don't think you can change out the stereo on the 2nd gen, I did it on my first gen but the later ones integrated it. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will come in and correct me
  29. Hello mini cooper lovers I have a 2010 mini cooper can someone point me in the right direction for a great car stereo what would be best ....thank you in advance
