  1. Jill arrives at 5:09pm from Dulles via Denver.
  2. I am leaving Virginia on 10JUL24. Staying in Nashville, Oklahoma City, and picking up Jill at the airport in Albuquerque on the 12th. We have all the hotels booked and will be in Alpine, WY on the 17th (non-rally day). Haven’t completely decided if we will continue to Seattle or head back from Bozeman. We will decide that a few weeks out.

Please join us for a Sunday run through Virginia’s rolling countryside. Our drive will begin at the Safeway in Leesburg where we will head south and west through some of the prettiest scenery in Virginia. This run will be limited to 15 MINIs and will focus on enjoying the countryside all the while experiencing our unique paved Virginia cow paths (paved twisties). We will pass along two meandering rivers (makes for even better twisties), cruise by many of Virginia’s horse farms, make a quick “pit stop” in Marshall, pop over the Blue Ridge Mountains, skim the Shenandoah River twice (if you put your hand out it will get wet), and ultimately arrive in Old Town Winchester (https://oldtownwinchesterva.com). Our final destination will be Vibrissa Beer and Kitchen where we will enjoy a late lunch and discuss our journey. If you haven’t been to Old Town Winchester before, we are only two blocks from the Walking Mall which boasts unique shops, ice cream, restaurants, historical sites, and three breweries (an extra one is only one a block away). So, if you like quick twisties, beautiful scenery and relaxing old town charm, you won’t want to miss this Little Virginia Journey. Start Point: Leesburg Safeway – 437 S King St, Leesburg, VA 20175 End Point: Vibrissa Beer and Kitchen – 10 N Kent St, Winchester, VA 22601 (vibrissabeer.com) Schedule of events: 10:00: Driver’s meeting 10:15: Run Starts 11:45: Pit Stop (Food Lion, Marshall, VA) 12:00: Leave Marshall, VA 13:30: Arrive Vibrissa Beer and Kitchen ************** I have added the GBX file. Please remember to Spring your clocks forward tonight. See you tomorrow. Winchester Open Run.gpx

  5. Jill and I will do it from Seattle to DC, but want an enclosed trailer. I appreciate you looking into this.
  6. Should be arriving around noon.
  7. Jill and I have already booked our hotels as well. I am driving out 2.5 days and Jill is flying to Albuquerque, then back from Seattle. I would like to have Millie shipped back from Seattle, but have heard it can be difficult to coordinate. Not sure if anyone (group) would be interested to do the same. Hotels for the 5ish days back would be close to $750, plus food, fuel, and your time. I drove to/from Seattle in 2023 and it was a fairly easy drive minus the total days (to Seattle in January). Only real issue we had was the smoke from forest fires coming back in late August. If that is happening during MTTS, Jill and I will head East from Bozeman or Missoula depending on fire/smoke locations.
  8. I did the pre-run on Sunday and everything looks good … minus the salt and brine. The weekend is shaping up nicely as of today’s forecast, but you might want a hat if you will be driving with the top down. I also wanted to let folks know that we are starting at the Leesburg Safeway instead of the usual Leesburg Public House – Cars and Coffee. This gives us an easy escape route from Leesburg, so we don’t have to drive on Route 15. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it and discussing plans for MTTS 2024 (Jill and I have booked all our hotels). I have attached the gpx file. _2024-01-08_.gpx
  9. Jill and I are going. Heading to the UP and Canada afterwards.
  10. Look who we found heading to the feed store for supplements this morning. It was a complete shock as the intersection cleared at the Safeway in Middleburg to see STXMINI drive by with three MINIs in tow. Glad we got to be the sweeper for a few miles. IMG_2549.MOV

    A Winchester Run

Here is the gpx file for the Winchester Run. I don’t see any of theses comments when I look at the event from the calendar. Hope to see you there on Sunday. _2023-04-25_.gpx

    A Winchester Run

I will be completing a reconnaissance check for the Winchester Run tomorrow (23APR23), if anyone would like to tag along. I will begin at the Run’s starting point, the Leesburg Public House, at 0930. I plan to depart by 0945 and drive the entire route to check on timing/route compatibility (no dirt roads). I will also be sampling a beverage at Vibrissa Beer and Kitchen, then heading to the outdoor walking mall for lunch. If you are planning on attending the April Board Meeting via Zoom, you will probably have to do it from Winchester. I will be posting the GPX route by Tuesday.

    A Winchester Run

This run will be similar to the Mistress Run, but not a Hop, Skip, and a Brew Run. 85+% twisties with quick elevation changes, but will be flat along the rivers. We are usually at or above the posted speed, but within the group’s abilities. If you only want flat out driving, a Hop, Skip, and a Brew or a day at one of the Autocross sessions might be more applicable. I do all three. Would love to have you attend.
  14. Ok, I will do the 30th from Virginia.
  15. Does it need to be on a Saturday? I could do 23rd or 30th. How long does it need to be and do we need to end at a restaurant or Brewery/Winery?
