We leave Wed for Cleveland

The closest that the event gets to us is Bethlehem. Maybe some of you can make it out there this Friday and stay over. I think you can still register online and get a goody bag.

I'm back to work today after my week (just over 2K miles) on MTTS. Whew!! What an adventure!

If you have the time and scratch to do it, I definitely recommend it. There was something great in every city, and even though you spend the majority of the time in your car, what better way to see America that through the eyes of your MINI?!

Of note:

1. Waze saved us from the 5-0 quite a few times.

2. Countryman had the biggest failure rate of all the MINI models. In the first 3 days alone, almost HALF of them had engine/performance issues.

3. Every city set up speed traps. The MTTS route was public, and the police weren't there to make friends.

4. Highway 550 is jaw-droppingly beautiful. Most. Stunning. Road. Ever.

5. More miles motoring = more probability for accidents, mechanical failure, police interference, etc. It's the fun toll - take it and keep on motoring!

I enjoyed watching your adventures on FB. I don't know if you saw today that there was about a 12 MINI pile up near Memphis. I know Kyle's MINI Kowalski deployed air bags. All of the people are safe. Not a lot of info released yet

Where did you read about this? I think my friend, Lilcoopr from Canada, might has been in this but I can't find any info.

"Subject: MINI Accident Report - No serious injuries - drive safe

During this morning’s leg of MINI TAKES THE STATES, there was a multi-vehicle collision involving eight MINIs. The accident was the result of a chain reaction from a car in the lead having to brake. We are happy to report that there were no injuries to any of those involved in the incident and no one chose treatment as a result. The accident occurred following a police escort while leaving Memphis on Monday morning. 3 cars were towed and the other vehicles were driven to Roadshow MINI for repairs. MINI USA is doing everything in its power to get these Motorers back on the road as soon as possible. We appreciate everyone's concern on this matter and we'll keep everyone posted with updates throughout the rest of MTTS."

Brian there's a closed Facebook group for mtts. Christine is ok, she was involved and is ok, but got some gravel to the face. Lay I heard a guy from MINI USA was driving her in her car. I think she was getting looked at on st Louis

I was actually talking to Erin when this happened. The bridge was under construction, so the road wasn't in the best condition. There was some sudden braking from the lead car, and the line of MINIs were following closely (maybe too close), and got bunched up. There were walls on both sides, so there was no way to pull off - unavoidable. Bummer, but nobody was hurt, so we really can't ask for more.

Looks like the most damage went to Kowalski. :frown: Kyle Conner - you know, the guy who boiled his brakes on the Dragon? I'm sure if it's fixable, it'll happen ASAP. He already suffered a couple of injuries in the first few days that were repaired, including a melted blow-off valve. You can MELT a blow-off valve?! If you drive like Kyle, you can. :burnout:

Thanks for the update. I found the closed group and requested to join.

You must always be cautious on a group drive with strangers. At least with our group we know how each of us drives and reacts to situations.

Be safe out there :top:

They made the group closed for security reasons. They are also not allowing posts of speedos showing high speeds etc. It's a good group and they are filling up my inbox right now.

We leave tomorrow for Cleveland!!!!! :top:

A friend of mine who lives in Cleveland complained on Facebook this morning about being stuck in traffic due to the police having the roads closed. They were closed due to MTTS. She saw the hundreds of MINIs go by and saw Tigger!!:motor:

I was hooting and hollering while waving and tooting, such fun. They moved us out pretty fast.

I may not be able to go to MTTS but I did have some fun with a bunch of bikes on 95 last night at about 11pm. I got tired of them blocking the road off trying to do tricks. The looks on their faces when I flew by them in a turn lane was priceless. :motor:

Needless to say they caught up to me but I messed around with them for about 10 miles. at excessive speeds. Thank goodness for the radar...
