Oh Noes!!!

Recommended Posts

Apparently, deer love Sonja just as much as I do.... driving to work yesterday and one decided to come take a closer look. Braking and swerving to miss this beast, Sonja went off the road and hit a tree.

I am not happy right now.

After talking with insurance, I'd have been better off if I just went and hit the foul creature...

I'm ok, but thank you for asking. I tend to drive somewhat slowly in the mornings anyway because of just this thing, but sometimes you just can't win.

I'm mostly annoyed because if I'd hit the deer, I wouldn't be at fault, but since I didn't, I am.

Not even 4k on Sonja, yet... grumblegrumblegrumble.

Glad to hear you're ok, but it's still sad to hear a MINI was damaged. Hope Sonja gets well soon!

Oh man another deer banging up a mini! I'm glad to hear you're okay. Is the damage to Sonja repairable?

Crazy about the deer out here, I thought I'd be escaping those beasts when i moved away from KS!

I highly recommend getting deer whistles for just this very thing. Heard about them a coupla yrs ago, but haven't bought yet, but I sure will order them now! U can get them here or pretty much anywhere: http://www.amazon.com/Custom-Accessories-17380-Alert-Whistles/dp/B000BOALF4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1350905557&sr=8-4&keywords=deer+whistles.

Hope all turns out OK w/your MINI, and soon! :top:

Mind you these things dont work 100% of the time...if at all...Coming from Central Va I have seen many of vehicles crunched by a deer eventhough they had those things on them....Just my Consumer Advise for the day...

I long ago decided that anything smaller than a moose, gets hit. I ain't swerving for small creatures...

Do most people realize that deer whistles are directional? If you put them on facing the wrong way, they attract deer... .. Actually, they don't work at all...

No matter where you go, there you are!

I'm with you. It's not worth the danger to swerve to miss.

ah, glad to see others share my view of cow...I mean deer... whistles! I think there's just no substitute for careful, alert driving.

IMO, deer whistles only serve two purposes:

  • Wasting your money
  • Making your car look uglier

The studies listed in the Wikipedia article that Laura linked to definitely show they aren't worth it.

deer whistles don't work, however bear bells do...ask Laura ;)

Do you know that there is an app for that, Scarebear https://itunes.apple.com/app/scarebear-trail-companion/id336785189?mt=8

Why pack the bells for the Dragon when you can have it on your iPhone... for those that have an iPhone. :hahaha:

The app is great until my iphone battery dies. I'll just make sure to have both, just in case.

The app has an air horn, too. :top:
