TheMichael
Apparently, deer love Sonja just as much as I do.... driving to work yesterday and one decided to come take a closer look. Braking and swerving to miss this beast, Sonja went off the road and hit a tree. I am not happy right now. After talking with insurance, I'd have been better off if I just went and hit the foul creature...

Poison Ivy
Michael, I'm so sorry to hear that. Are you ok? Did you get hurt?
TheMichael
I'm ok, but thank you for asking. I tend to drive somewhat slowly in the mornings anyway because of just this thing, but sometimes you just can't win. I'm mostly annoyed because if I'd hit the deer, I wouldn't be at fault, but since I didn't, I am. Not even 4k on Sonja, yet... grumblegrumblegrumble. elpollodiablo
Oh man another deer banging up a mini! I'm glad to hear you're okay. Is the damage to Sonja repairable? Crazy about the deer out here, I thought I'd be escaping those beasts when i moved away from KS! LostDenverite
Condolences. Here's hoping for a quick (as can be) recovery for Sonja...and you - driving a rental is hateful. Tolerable if another MINI, but never the same as driving your own.

GreenCactus
When I lived in Indiana I had deer whistles on my car. I had just as many close calls with them as without them. While I don't think they hurt anything, you wouldn't want a false sense of security because you have them.
RichSperry
I long ago decided that anything smaller than a moose, gets hit. I ain't swerving for small creatures... Do most people realize that deer whistles are directional? If you put them on facing the wrong way, they attract deer... .. Actually, they don't work at all... No matter where you go, there you are! Edge
IMO, deer whistles only serve two purposes: Wasting your money Making your car look uglier The studies listed in the Wikipedia article that Laura linked to definitely show they aren't worth it. I long ago decided that anything smaller than a moose, gets hit. I ain't swerving for small creatures...Ahem... except humans, I hope.
