  1. 60? As in miles per hour! Is this cannonball run? Is the beltway downhill the whole way? I may have to drift with Watson so we can have 80 hp between us.

80hp is generous, mine came from the factory with 36hp and a few have likely fallen out along the way.

We can cruise at our own pace.

  2. On my calander as well. I can't confirm due to work but I would like to go. Although you guys will probably lap me a few times. :motor:

We classics bring up the rear in our own group (4 of us last year) as long as you can run 55 to 60 you will keep up no problem.

  3. Wow, that came out great!

Thanks, it is a bit of a monet. When standing back it looks great, but if you get up to it you see the inperfections. If I decide to keep it I will redo in paint which sure sharpen the lines.

So when are we PDing a union jack on the Lotus:laugh:

  4. That should be cool. I got a little heavy handed with the exacto and made a few scratches on the golf so be careful.

I have been considering a full dip JCW style black with a red roof.

I have always liked that color combo. Thanks for the heads up on the exacto, it took a line or two to get the pressure right. I am happy with the way it turned out for a first try. I got a little bleeding on a few tape lines, the humidity in the garage apparently made the tape not bond fully in places.

  5. That looks great! I really like the white roof. I have my daily driver's roof coated right now to test it out before putting any on the mini. Black golf with a didn't-put-on-enough-coats red roof.

Thanks, I saw where pd now has a primer. I think that will be a must next time. I plan on laying out a design on the white soon. I have a couple ideas I need to test before the picinic

  6. Decided this past weekend to address the burgundy seats in Watson. They were the last remaining piece of his original triple red look (exterior, upholstery, and carpet) a true 70's look. The vinyl was starting to shows some tears, and really go with the blue car and black carpet and door cards. I bought some inexpensive cloth upholstery the give the first try, and below are the results. I will likely replace with vinyl or leather down the road now that I have a good pattern from this attempt.

I have definitely improved my sewing skills if nothing else.

  7. I just found this posted on Facebook.

"Subject: MINI Accident Report - No serious injuries - drive safe

During this morning’s leg of MINI TAKES THE STATES, there was a multi-vehicle collision involving eight MINIs. The accident was the result of a chain reaction from a car in the lead having to brake. We are happy to report that there were no injuries to any of those involved in the incident and no one chose treatment as a result. The accident occurred following a police escort while leaving Memphis on Monday morning. 3 cars were towed and the other vehicles were driven to Roadshow MINI for repairs. MINI USA is doing everything in its power to get these Motorers back on the road as soon as possible. We appreciate everyone's concern on this matter and we'll keep everyone posted with updates throughout the rest of MTTS."

Result of the lead car braking? How dare you use your brakes. Could have been worded better MINUSA
