  1. Welcome the grey is a great color!! Look forward to seeing it on a run soon.
  2. Hey all, Registration is off to a fast start with nearly half the spots already claimed. I will be pushing out an email with additional information on how to prepare and have the most fun the day of the event. If you have any question, please post them here as I am sure you are not the only one with that question.
  3. One bit of info for the group, Passport whether Alexandria or MoCo (and many other dealers) buy their tires through Tirerack. It is a dealer account, but still they are sourcing through Tirerack. So when they quote you tire prices, look that tire up on Tirerack and if it is cheaper tell them you can order them yourself with free shipping for "THIS" price. 9 times out of 10 they will match the price on the website, because they are not paying that price with their dealer account.
  4. We are currently finalizing the new agreement with Passport MINI of Alexandria and hope to be able to share with the club by the end of the month. I am pretty excited about what we have roughed out.
  5. That is going to be a fun trip, As for the HSB. They are great first runs to lead, and I am happy to help you plan it. I will shoot you a private message to discuss further
  6. Lorri, Brandy will due the Ice cream run in August (exact date to TBD), but will be the end of the month. I will look at my calendar and schedule a summer HSB also
  7. The F chasis supports up to a 225 with no modifications, the GPs come with 225/35R18s. I currently run 225/40R18 on my wife's GP, because it is a much more common tire size and provides more option and more competitive pricing. 215 is also a good size, I would ignore the 205s due to less options resulting in higher pricing. I personal run Michelin Pilot Sport 4s All-seasons, as the dailies on all our MINIs, and have extreme summers that I use for track or the occasional spirited road driving. In my opinion they are a great balance of performance and have some life to them. They are go for all the conditions you will face around here. Hell, do the the extremely cold temps lately I ran the Pilot sports on track this weekend and was very happy with how they performed. I was definitely pushing them harder than any spirited driving you will do out on the road.
  8. I echo Craig's previous comments. Another thing to consider with run flats is any side wall blow out still leaves you stranded. They are really only good for a in tread puncture. Also they are non patchable once you get to the shop, you are buying a new tire shops do not patch run flats. Adding a space saver spare in the back takes minimal space, and will get you off the road like a run flat would. As for jacks pick up a compact full scissor jack and you can slide it under the passenger seat from the rear. Make sure it is a full scissor, not the half scissor MINI used to include OEM (that think is asking for trouble) there are jacking points at all four corners they are blocks on all MINIs.
  9. Awesome, We will have the DCMM banner on the front porch, everyone is always welcome to stop in
  10. you can participate separately or as a couple. Brandy and I do not share so we will participating separately.
  11. Hey all, @Brandy_Brown @STXMINI @Sanderson Clan @FlockWSO @SusieQ @NYRican MC40 We are looking forward to our post holiday party last weekend. Can you please share the dish you plan on bringing and if you plan on taking part in the "White Elephant". Thanks all. I will be bringing whatever Brandy says I am bringing and also the white elephant.
  12. Very nice looking MINI, classic exterior/interior combo. Also, the ejector seat is great!!
  13. Sorry to hear, it does look like the higher F150 resulted in the damage being mostly to the tailgate, and avoided to crash panels in the rear quarters. Hopefully this limits the parts needed to get back up and running.
  14. Thank you for posting
  15. If you are there early there is Corey’s test run. Imagine that road with me not making sure people are keeping up.
  16. Thanks for volunteering before I had to exploit our friendship for you photography skills.

What can I expect? Autocross school is the best way to learn more about autocross and improve your driving performance through in-car instruction by some of the best instructors in the Washington DC area. Come join us for a fun and educational day filled with safe but adrenaline raising motorsport. UPDATE: Though the winter weather did not effect the dc metro area, there was snow in the area we would be driving on the southwest portion of our route. Due to many of these roads being 600 series roads, they often are cleared by the sun. As we are unable to inspect the route prior to Saturday and temperatures remaining below freeze with the opportunity for a thaw and refreeze Friday into Saturday morning we will be postponing the drive. We will be rescheduling for April as the March schedule is pretty full. Thank you for your understanding. 21. @STXMINI, That is AWESOME that you guys will be joining again this year. We missed you last year. @SusieQ, Lorri hit the good starting points, I would review the new join info on the website about the event and the area. I can confirm there are some cabins and a few rooms in the lodge available, I should have the exact number and type soon. I recommend calling and locking one down if you are thinking of going. The deposit is about $200 and fully refundable up to 30 days out I believe (I will have to check mine). Some Corey tips (for what that’s worth): - You will have a bunch of DCMMers down there, just ask to be a third wheel and everyone will let you tag along, you will likely see a familiar face at every event. - One sign up for one drive a day, if you try to do more you will be worried about getting to the next drive instead of enjoying the one you are on. - The welcome and farewell dinner can be a bit overwhelming over 300 people in the hall, but you will be sitting with friends. There are plenty of folks that use those evening to do dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants instead (DCMM often does a dinner at Tapoco one evening) - Bingo is fun but can be a bit loud, I would recommend attending (great prizes) I typically create a calendar that shows how the runs overlap and share here. It is just easier for me to see. There are all different drives to eat, some have adventure, something for everyone. Popular runs do fill up last, but it is not as bad post covid. I think the record for my drive was 10 minutes from it going live, and it is capped at 20 people. I do find it odd the number of people that drive 8 hours to TN/NC and end up on a Corey run. You can do that all year long here, lol. If you have any question please do not hesitate to ask, I might know a guy with some inside info.
  22. Congrats on the new MINI, There have been recent changes at PMoA at the General Manager level. I know she is review and realigning focus there glad to hear you had a more positive experience this time.
  23. The only reason I can think that they are slightly overfilling is to account for blow by. These engines have blow by normally, but will a turn with increased boost this could increase. As you have no internal mods or that would change the oil need or representation of fill level. The right way to address this would be to check your oil every time you fill up with gas and top off with oil to replace any loss.
  24. What mod are they saying they are accounting for.
  25. At 24k, your rotors are mostly likely fine. Most shops never recommend pads only, but I have done it many times on vehicles including MINIs I have owned. This install is very easy, and can be done in an hour in a driveway. You will also have to replace the sensor that went off as it wore through the copper wire, or there are other ways to fix that. Lots of quality video on youtube to due this service. A rear sway bar will improve rotation, and has the added advantage of not effecting ride quality as your MINI is your daily. Links likely are not necessary as you are not adjusting the ride height with coilovers. Rear sway bars are good bang for the buck at around $300 for the part. Where they create cost is if you are not doing the install yourself. With the design of the MINI suspension the sway bar is between the subframe and the unibody, unlike many designs where they are attached to the bottom and easily removed with only a few bolts. With a mini you will need to partially drop the subframe to allow space to walk the old one out and the new in. It is not a hard project, but really you need a garage and life is easier with a lift. Young me has done them in a driveway on jack stands, and I am personally to old for that now. Additionally, you will need an alignment as you moved the subframe. So providing you do your own labor and only buying the sway bar, and an alignment it is likely around $500. Having a shop do it I would guess around $1000 all in.
