R56s run hotter than the first gen cars. I typically consume about a quart every 1,500 or so. Alberto helped change my valve cover gasket and spark plugs before MOTD this year and that seems to have helped with with consumption. We all know I drive like I stole her (I have the tickets to prove it!). Lucy is a 2007 hardtop S, about to hit 71k and she has the N14 engine.

Welcome! A lot of us tend to go to Passport MINI of Alexandria. I think we all use the same two service advisers - Will and David. Passport is mod friendly, which is awesome (and apparently rare as far as MINI dealerships go). Also, a lot of us with the mod bug like to go to PTUNING in Manassas. Both are awesome and highly reputable.

I caught the Chuck Taylor's reference! I always called them Chucks! ANNNNNNNNNNND that's awful. I'm really sad to hear shes's been having odd problems like that. the R55/56 transmission isn't meant to do stuff like that. It's actually supposed to be more reliable than the CVT. Good luck guys

For my first Spring Fling, I had a FANTASTIC time. Thank you everyone. Also, my non MINI friends definitely had a good time, they were happy for the hospitality and the fun twisties. Today, my coworker with the special R32 that has no name said he even had some issues in spots keeping up with Lucy. That makes me a proud mama!!! :rock:

Oddly, I have jumper cables (and a new battery) and I just got new spark plugs (that are in a box in my car). I feel prepared.

Well one is a MINI, he's allowed. The other is a Tornado Red R32 (rare color) and the other is an M5. Yaah, they're quality euros.

Good news: my clutch is here. Bad news: I'm doing this run with my clutch in my boot because I'm going to Passport. Hmm. This will be interesting...

So my guest list is 3 extra cars lol. One is a silver MINI, my friend Jamie from Frederick, MD; a red R32 that belongs to my coworker Noah, and one of mine and Noah's friends, Martin with a BMW M5. Please be nice to my friends, they want to join the fun. They have been briefed on proper driver etiquette/how nice and welcoming the club is but if needed, a gentle reminder wouldn't hurt.

I'll be granny shifting don't worry. My clutch has been going bad since February, I'm not worried! Although I'll probably bail after lunch since I want to drop my car off at Passport MINI of Alexandria and grab a loaner.

I won't have the clutch installed until ......... probably after Spring Fling. It is still in transit from Detroit Tuned, should arrive Friday and I haven't been able to schedule an appointment at Passport for the install so I'm going to be cruising on the busted one.
