  1. Cool, I'll have to find that one. The Exxon is $7 for 10 mins but broken
  2. Even with a touchless place the water is forced sideways onto the car and that's bad for the seals on a Cabrio grrrrr
  3. I usually go to the Exxon near my house which has a high pressure hose that I can rent when I wash Tigger. With all the cold, their system broke and my home hose is frozen. I know I can go to DC to a friends house, but with work and traffic I'm having trouble getting over there. Does anyone know of places that have a self service car wash? Tigger does not do automatic car washes, bad for the top, bad for the vinyl, just plain bad for Tigger. Ali
  4. Is this like the one that I have or smaller?
  5. If I ever see you I'll wave to you Tattrat :wavey:
  6. Little River Turnpike!!! That's down town K Town, she's the mayor around those parts! I'm mayor of East K Town MINIs
  7. My husband has the Blizzak runflats and was happy with them today. I went off of the run flats with the Continental Extreme Winter Contacts http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeWinterContact&partnum=145TR7EWC&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes and was really happy with them today. They just stuck to the road, it was nice. Not that I could go very fast with all the accidents. The problem your having isn't that they're runflats, it's that you have SUMMER runflats, I had them last winter and it was a nightmare. You need snow tires. Ali
  8. If you're going to get run flat snow tires then Alban Tires in Springfield is great. Not a lot of places will work on runflats, they have decent prices and can do any kind of tire. If you're switching off of the run flats, I just looked up the tires I wanted at Tire Rack and got the local service station to match the price. Ali
  9. Last year I had the all wrong tires and Tigger was useless in the snow. This year I have some Conti Snow Extremes, I NO LONGER FEAR THE SNOW!! I do fear the other idiots out there that should have stayed home. It was great today, Tigger was going up hills and through unplowed parking lots. I had no tire spins, no fishtailing and he was stopping very well too. So now Tigger is a little tank in the snow, but there are still other drivers out there and they are scary! Ali
  10. I got this from a friend of mine Winkler Automotive in Gaithersburg is good; very straightforward to deal with & they treat women customers well. http://www.winklerautomotive.com/
  11. I sent a note to a friend that lives in Gaithersburg
  12. I've heard good things about Wagonworks from other car enthusiasts. I was there once speaking to them about a mod. They were really nice, really spent a lot of time with me. Showed me several MINIs that they were repairing. The guy seemed to know and like MINIs. They didn't want to do my little mod, but treated me very professionally. Nice shop, they had some pretty high end cars there that I don't think would go just anywhere. Ali

  15. Actually the top was up. I only take it down at 30 if it's really sunny and there are no whining passengers in the car. I wasn't directly behind you, so I can see how you missed me.
  16. Tonight I was driving along Little River Tpk West when I see TRNKA. I was in the left lane, he was in the right and I was about 3 cars back. I'm so excited to be getting my wave, I KNOW he waves. You can only imagine how happy I was. So FINALLY I catch up, I literally have my hand poised over the horn so I can toot and get his attention. What does he do??? He turns right, into the Giant! I was sitting in my car yelling "Nooooooooooo!" As Greg happily drove on and never saw me. Hey Greg!!! :wavey:

  19. I think a camera day would be really fun. We can all geek out
  20. I've got a 50mm prime which has become my workhorse. I also have a 60mm macro and a wide angle (which is great for shooting multiple cars in a line). Just for fun I just ordered a Holga, medium format film camera. I can't wait to play with that for some vintage style MINI shots. I hear that the photo event with C3M next weekend is being rescheduled. I'd love to do more with the cameras and our cars. Like Craig I'm playing with the manual mode more often lately. A friend of mine taught me a decent trick to shoot a few shots on auto, take a look at it, see the settings then go into manual and adjust from there.
  21. When you guys are ready for a digital SLR I would be happy to get together and let you try my Canon Rebel. It's an entry level SLR, I like it a lot. But already have my eye on a more professional model Ali
  22. Nice pics. What kind of camera did you get? I saw a cabrio Laurel in Old Town on Friday night. Thought of your car. Ali
  23. Today I went for a reflexology massage at a place that I had a Groupon for. It was kind of hard to find the location from the parking lot because they didn't have signs. I called them for directions and to make sure I was in the right place. I noticed a MINI in the lot and it was in a spot with their number so I asked if the MINI went with the place. Turned out the chiropractor that owned the place owned the MINI. I gave him a card. Then the massage therapist comes out and tells me that she has one also. So I gave her a card and grilled her about her MINI during the massage. Turns out she's in a poligaMINI family as her husband has one too. I was in MINI heavan, and was harassing the receptionist to get one since she was the only one that didn't have one. It was a MINIrific experience and I managed to tag 3 MINI owners. Ali
  24. I remember a few years ago when I went to Dave and Busters and played a bunch of driving games. After I got in the car later, I felt like if I drove into walls it wasn't going to hurt. It took me a few minutes for real driving to feel normal again. Ali
  25. Allright then. I'll set something up
