  1. I just got a Holga medium format camera, took some pics of Tigger while he was getting washed last week. I love the red framing http://web.me.com/alidrew/Site/Holga_roll_2.html#19 http://web.me.com/alidrew/Site/Holga_roll_2.html#17 Once again, I can't figure out how to embed the pics.
  2. Fancy!
  3. I just found this Flicker site for people to upload pics of MINIs / Minis that they've found. http://www.flickr.com/groups/87742867@N00/ There's some cool shots
  4. WHAT???? That's Fairfax, right? I had no idea we had one of those places anywhere around here. We should all go there sometime to wash and wax our MINIs. I'm so excited! Wash Bays!!!!! It's like Christmas or something. :marshmellow: Today I went to the Exxon and the hose was fixed. I went to wash Tigger and I almost slipped in the ice. The guy behind me waiting on the hose insisted on washing Tigger. So I let him, since I was sure I was about to kill myself on the ice. I ran in and bought him a token to wash his own car. Still a bay is so nice, you can wash and wax and everything in there. I tried to hit that Shell earlier today, but it was a mad house. Mark tried to use the Exxon later in the day after me but there was a crazy line. Luckily our hose had defrosted so he was able to wash Max.
  5. That doesn't seem right. Tigger warms up for me pretty quickly and I never pre-warm. I get in, I drive and the car is warm in a few minutes. Mark said that Max is the same (figured I could compare a more similar model). Neither one of us warm up the cars in the parking lot. We just get in and drive. Mark said that warming up in the parking lot won't warm up the heat because the rpm's don't get very high. Ali
  6. That's close, is it near 7 Corners?
  7. Cool, I'll have to find that one. The Exxon is $7 for 10 mins but broken
  8. Even with a touchless place the water is forced sideways onto the car and that's bad for the seals on a Cabrio grrrrr
  9. I usually go to the Exxon near my house which has a high pressure hose that I can rent when I wash Tigger. With all the cold, their system broke and my home hose is frozen. I know I can go to DC to a friends house, but with work and traffic I'm having trouble getting over there. Does anyone know of places that have a self service car wash? Tigger does not do automatic car washes, bad for the top, bad for the vinyl, just plain bad for Tigger. Ali
  10. Is this like the one that I have or smaller?
  11. If I ever see you I'll wave to you Tattrat :wavey:
  12. Little River Turnpike!!! That's down town K Town, she's the mayor around those parts! I'm mayor of East K Town MINIs
  13. My husband has the Blizzak runflats and was happy with them today. I went off of the run flats with the Continental Extreme Winter Contacts http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeWinterContact&partnum=145TR7EWC&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes and was really happy with them today. They just stuck to the road, it was nice. Not that I could go very fast with all the accidents. The problem your having isn't that they're runflats, it's that you have SUMMER runflats, I had them last winter and it was a nightmare. You need snow tires. Ali
  14. If you're going to get run flat snow tires then Alban Tires in Springfield is great. Not a lot of places will work on runflats, they have decent prices and can do any kind of tire. If you're switching off of the run flats, I just looked up the tires I wanted at Tire Rack and got the local service station to match the price. Ali
  15. Last year I had the all wrong tires and Tigger was useless in the snow. This year I have some Conti Snow Extremes, I NO LONGER FEAR THE SNOW!! I do fear the other idiots out there that should have stayed home. It was great today, Tigger was going up hills and through unplowed parking lots. I had no tire spins, no fishtailing and he was stopping very well too. So now Tigger is a little tank in the snow, but there are still other drivers out there and they are scary! Ali
  16. I got this from a friend of mine Winkler Automotive in Gaithersburg is good; very straightforward to deal with & they treat women customers well. http://www.winklerautomotive.com/
  17. I sent a note to a friend that lives in Gaithersburg
  18. I've heard good things about Wagonworks from other car enthusiasts. I was there once speaking to them about a mod. They were really nice, really spent a lot of time with me. Showed me several MINIs that they were repairing. The guy seemed to know and like MINIs. They didn't want to do my little mod, but treated me very professionally. Nice shop, they had some pretty high end cars there that I don't think would go just anywhere. Ali

  21. Actually the top was up. I only take it down at 30 if it's really sunny and there are no whining passengers in the car. I wasn't directly behind you, so I can see how you missed me.
  22. Tonight I was driving along Little River Tpk West when I see TRNKA. I was in the left lane, he was in the right and I was about 3 cars back. I'm so excited to be getting my wave, I KNOW he waves. You can only imagine how happy I was. So FINALLY I catch up, I literally have my hand poised over the horn so I can toot and get his attention. What does he do??? He turns right, into the Giant! I was sitting in my car yelling "Nooooooooooo!" As Greg happily drove on and never saw me. Hey Greg!!! :wavey:
