  1. Could someone post a link to registration. I don't see it listed on their calendar yet. Maybe Monday...
  2. I just picked one up for Christy's first gen Cabrio and it really makes a difference. I can highly recommend one. And as stated above, that IS a deal!
  3. I have GOT to make it up for one of their events! I'll stay tuned for the next ones. If not, could someone let me know?
  4. Agreed! Looks pretty darn good!
  5. Have seen similar products. No form of plastic will protect your rims from an impact to a curb that has any force to it. Personally, I'd say they're more decorative than functional. Just my opinion.
  6. It amazes me people go to one of the twistiest roads in the US and cut all the corners trying to make it straight! One of the things that worries me more than cutting corners are drivers that drive beyond their limit. Like the previous posts, it isn't a race and it isn't a show off session. It's a fun road to be enjoyed. Unlike an autocross, where hazardous situations are taken into account, this is real life. Trust me, you won't have a little incident on the Dragon. It's gonna be BIG and probably painful. If not physically, surely financially. PLUS everybody will know who you are and what you did. Driving 10/10th in a controlled event is one thing. With all my years of racing Legends, and other oval track stuff as well as autocrossing, I still only drive the Dragon at 8/10ths. I agree with a prior post, "Don't be that guy!"
  7. If it helps any, some of us HR MINI folks could just head back before lunch, rather than after. We'd love to hang out with y'all, but if stepping aside will be better for the group as a whole. I know I'd personally, be glad to surrender my lunch spot.
  8. Not to hijack the thread or anything, but how did y alike them. I'm thinking about a set for my Clubbie and maybe the daughter child's Cabrio.
  9. a 19 mm bar will make a major difference in handling, even on the softest setting. A 22mm bar will REALLY make a difference. I'd suggest a novice or timid driver stick with a 19mm bar and go no higher than a middle setting. After a year or so of "spirited" driving, maybe go to the firmest setting. Even on soft, you'll feel the rear "come around" when cornering. It really helps the front end turn and the rear rotate. To that end, a 22mm bar will make the rear come around faster and not always what you wan ton the street, especially in a panic situation and a less than skilled driver. I'd go with a real firm setting at an autocross course, that'll help the rear drive the car around tight corners. On a road course. MAYBE a 22 on a mid or a soft setting and maybe a 19mm on stiff. For the street, an experienced driver will like a 19mm on the middle setting and an newbie will still feel an amazing difference on soft. But I'd caution anyone to go with a soft setting at first and learn the car. They have a good deal of understeer or "push" designed into them. It's safer. But adding a rear bar will loosen the car. Start soft and learn the feel of the car. You'll enjoy it more.
  10. These are nice folks. Really keeps the heat down in your MINI when parked in the sun all day! Great price too!
  11. As of right now, it looks like I am! I need some help though. The 13th is my 27th anniversary. We're doing a run with the new Richmond MINI group Saturday and then heading up y'all way after that. I'll be staying somewhere close to Wegmans. Looking for a good steak place up that way around Sterling. If someone could email me at maacodale@aol.com to keep the clutter off this thread, I'd appreciate it.
  12. Wegman's on Columbia Pike correct? Not sure if I remember exactly or not.
  13. Amazingly enough, us down here in Hampton Roads are already in the planning stages for a C'ville run. We're planning on doing lunch at Mitchie's Tavern, since they seem to specialize in tours and bus size groups. Let us know when y'all are planning your event and maybe we can do our run up that way as a joint event! As for central VA events, HR MINI does several in the area. Probably our biggest event is the Cooper Vineyard MINI Rally. Last year, thanks to a hurricane AND earthquake, attendance was down, but we've had well over 100 MINIs at Cooper before. We also host a "spirited" drive over to the vineyard starting at Bruster's Ice Cream on Staple Mills Rd. There is also an upcoming drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Buena Vista in the coming months. So yea, we out that way. Check out http://www.hrmini.com to stay abreast.
  14. Just as a side note, several of us HR MINI folks are renting a house 5 miles from Fontana. Actually less than a cabin and 4 bedroom/4 bath. Granted we'll miss all the activity Fontana has after hours, but it's still way closer than Robbinsville.
  15. I'll have to try and make this one!
  16. Haven't made the first two, maybe third time is the charm. I'll add it to the HR MINI calendar too! I did have several people ask about a scavenger hunt at our Ferry Run event today.
  17. Great seeing all of our DC Metro MINI friends again. Thanks so much for coming out and helping make the event so much fun! And like Ali said, lots of our prizes headed north from Surry. Actually, they all went every which way except my house! I really wanted one of those Real Deal Brazil hats! The rain held off until we were off the ferry for the most part. Though we did have a bit of a sprinkle for the boat ride. After all the tabulations were finished, the event raised $1880 for the American Cancer Society. Thanks again for all that came out and motored with us!
  18. Christy's Cabrio has the chrome package and it's killing me to keep looking at it. Both her and Regina like it, so I guess I'm out voted. My Clubbie has just the rings and grille moldings chrome. I think that's just enough. Thought about wrapping it with CF, but that would be the only CF I'd have. Maybe Plasti dip the black. Maybe. We do have some Lime Green vinyl wrap coming to do her fenders and cowl panel. Wish it would be here before the Ferry run. but probably won't be. Her car will be there though!
  19. Yep, welcome to MINIs. Sounds like you already have plans to mod your MINI and make it your own! You have some mighty fun roads up there. When ya get a chance, make sure ya stop by Hampton Roads club MINI and check us out. http://www.hrmini.com
  20. Near as we can count, we have over $1000 worth of raffle prizes to give away!
  21. I just ordered one for Christy's new Cabrio and picked up a spare for my Clubbie. And yes, they are an important addition to ANY MINI!

  23. Check and Check! Lodging is set with two hotels to choose from: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/candlewood/hotels/us/en/yorktown/phfcw/hoteldetail/photos-tours and http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=ORFNWGI $59/night at the Candlewood queen or double and $89 at the Hilton. Both are less than 1/4 mile apart. Tell them you're with the MINI group or the MINI event. Shirts are done by every MINI's friend Craig (COOPERation) at Evergreen Graphics. We'll have T shirts and Sweat Shirts. There will also be a raffle with some neat MINI prizes as well as a 50/50 drawing!!
  24. Bodyshop guy here! Remember in VA YOU and YOU alone decide where the vehicle gets repaired, no matter WHO is paying for the repairs. It's illegal for the insurance company to "steer" you to any shop for the repairs. An estimate, yes, but NOT for repairs! If you need any advice, just ask up.
  25. A bunch of us are headed down from HR MINI land. A group of the girls are heading down Sunday, us guys are headed down at different times. Think I'm heading down Tuesday. With the inter-HR MINI cabin debacle, a group of us rented a 4 bed room/4 bath room house, just outside of Robbinsville. Really looking forward to all the fun MOTD has come to mean to me!
