  1. Without the alarm installed, there's no way to get the chirp but all is not lost. Through at least 2010 models, the car's coding can be changed to make the alarm light (built into the top of the tach on R55/R56/R57's) can be set to the "heart beat" when the car is locked. Externally, it appears as though the car has an alarm because the light is same. If your car is pre-wired, the install doesn't have to be done by the dealer as those of us who are "jail breaking" the MINI's body control modules can actually set the vehicle options to recognize the alarm system once the box is installed. There's actually a good article on the motoring files about the theft rate for MINI's. I did order the alarm and I was going to have a LO-JACK installed until I read that article.
  2. I've got too much homework piled up to get to my photo's right now but I'll be posting some a little later this week. I shouldn't even be looking at DCMM but I can't help myself, I keep checking for new posts!
  3. Jono, I've got Black Wow in my detailing kit if you'd like to give it a try. I'm sure Ali will comment that she's on a "Black Wow" strike but that's because she's planning on having the black trim painted and the Black Wow needs to be totally removed so the paint will have a clean/proper adhesion surface. For the most part, it works exactly as advertised.
  4. Yes, Ali. You were actually innocent in this case but I still enjoyed cursing you as I walked up to the car. Once I saw the little MINI Wings emblem on the "citation", I knew you were innocent and that others were the culprits.
  5. I figure there will be a desire to start this thread at some point so here it is. Please share the photos that you have with everyone. It might be best to insert links to the image sharing site you prefer to use rather than posting a bunch of images. I say that and I'm going to be the first to post an image - just a single image though. Ms. Peel's first time at MOTD.
  6. Welcome! You'll be getting lots of posts over the next couple of days since a big bunch of us are just returning from North Carolina. Looking forward to meeting you, the family and the new ride at an event soon!
  7. I actually cursed under my breath at Ali for a moment... As I walked to the car (which Ali had parked last night), I saw the "citation" and figured I'd been ticketed since Merlin was mostly in the road... The laugh really was on me though. Well played ladies and gentlemen, well played. Plotting and revenge has already begun....
  8. Your radio is on the dining room table for you and it seems like there's something else around here for you too but I can't remember. At worst, we'll have it in the cabin, charged and ready.
  9. Okay, we can cut Ali some slack because she does at least clean her wheels, drive over 40 and do other kind and generous things. I'm looking out at the skies and checking the weather and it looks like it's going to be like this for most of the day. Overcast with a light breeze. Perfect for a wash and wax!
  10. :top: Just finished washing Merlin so I know I'm officially on vacation too!
  11. Brian is texting me calling me a Slacker and the Work BB is going off.... I feel the love.
  12. :puke: I didn't go to work today. Couldn't face it. :top: Now if my BlackBerry would just shut up, I could forget about work! P.S. And yes, I did use two emoticons in the same post. I think I've been corrupted.
  13. There's Audrey, tagging the TD&H's! for the club!
  14. I still have them and they will be a part of the packing.
  15. I'm not changing my packing list because of the forecast, I know I'm "wash and wear". Lots of Tshirts, shorts, 1-2 pairs of long pants, an umrella and a rain jacket. Oh, a few ball caps to protect the dome from those evil glutens and UV rays...
  16. Laura should copyright her MINI Cooper packing technique! The entire shipping industry could take lessons!
  17. If remove the valve stems from his tires, someone will beat him!
  18. I would say just the consumables if you have something that you prefer. I usually bring enough micro fiber towels and all. I also bring a bucket that's there for everyone in the cabin.
  19. I do believe the gauntlet has been thrown down. To help Ali, I've offered up the use of a set of summer performance tires in the hope that they will be a little "stickier" which, in turn, will help improve confidence, speed and times. I can honestly say that I was very (pleasantly) surprised at how Merlin did on Saturday and I was happy to stay 3/10th's of a second behind Haemish.
  20. The link below will take you to the registration for the school. You can do a search and find the events Registration This is the site that handles all of the registrations for the BMWCCA NCC autocross events.
  21. Grilled Cheese to go and enjoy it WITH the cuban and friends!
  22. Okay, how do we break the news to Ali that she is the new Captain Slow?
  23. Okay, I was going to use these wheels to build a set of winter wheels/tires for Merlin but I've decided to go in a different direction and I figure it's best to put these guys back out into the "wild" where they can enjoy themselves. So, I have a set of 4 silver R112 wheels (17x7) with center caps. They have tires with usable treadlife mounted on them but I don't remember which tires they are - other than they are summer runflats that you would usually find on a JCW (these came off of a JCW). I can deliver within a reasonable distance or, if you'd like to see them in captivity, come on by the "Garage Mahal" on Saturday for the detailing event. If you decide to buy them, I'll even break out the pressure washer and make sure they are totally free of brake dust! I'm asking $800 for the set and we can negotiate from there.
  24. Well, we don't have the greatest of weather forecasts for Fontana but as we all know, the weather is always a variable. I'm going to pack umbrellas and a rain jacket just to make my fun isn't spoiled. The upside of this is that the sport bikes and Harley's aren't as likely to be out in the rain! 10 day forecast for Fontana
  25. The "coders" are looking for that option in the MINI since it's in most of the BMW's. We are also looking for the option that will make the powerfold mirrors fold/unfold when the car is turned off or on and THAT would be very cool!
