  1. That's a tough call to make - the 10th anniversary of MOTD or MTTS which is just a bunch of boring highway driving... Wish you could be going with us and if you change your mind, you will have a great time!
  2. For those participating in the autocross school, I'll offer up a couple of things that will be worth taking and a few things to do before the day starts. Have a full tank of gas (or at least fill up before heading over there). Check your oil and ensure you are at the right level. Empty as much "stuff" as you can before heading over there. It makes it easier/faster to get your car ready. I'll bring a larger cooler if anyone doesn't have one. I'll also be bringing a compressor, a good tire pressure gauge and lots of camera gear. I will have my GoPro charged up and ready to go and we can move it around to different cars so we have video of everyone. Sunscreen, a hat and other "protective" clothing along with comfortable shoes are an absolute must have. I'm looking forward to helping out with the event and I hope everyone has fun!
  3. Maybe the owner walked by and took the card?
  4. Hey, that was us!
  5. I'm pretty sure that's a different device. Jan's flash tool and the access port are for 2nd Gen's only. The FA53 is for 1st Gen only.
  6. We heard you were having enough fun of your own! I hope your install went well. We can say that we won't ever be worried about replacing a crank puiley on a 1st gen in the future. It wasn't all that tough!
  7. I was waiting to see the McD's bag covered too! Since all of my exterior is matte vinyl, I'll go that way and I happen to have the some on hand. I just haven't tried to tackle that job yet. Thanks!
  8. Belt tension tool is here. We'll roll the doors up at about 9 a.m. and I plan on closing them around 1 p.m. as I've got homework and a few other things to get done in the afternoon.
  9. PM, email, text or call me if you may come by and I'll get the address to you. This forum is public so I didn't want to put it in here.
  10. Correct, the access port doesn't work in the 1st Gen to upload/download tunes. I think it will work for data logging, monitoring and/or clearing codes though. I'm going to defer to Haemish, Alan, Brian or one of the 1st gen owners who would know if such a device does exist for them.
  11. It's a good sized two car garage so there's room. I'll probably knock my oil change out Saturday so it's not in the way. There's also a grill right outside the back door of the garage just in case any "grillables" show up.
  12. Let me know if you'd be interested in doing a set of door handles!
  13. It looks good but that 3M stuff is not ummmm inexpensive! I did some of that on Archi and it looked pretty darn good. While Mike was doing the roof of Soulfire at the Dragon, I took a piece of the discarded stuff and made and iPhone case for myself! It came out okay considering I had no tools and then you saw my netbook that I covered. I like the Mac laptop like that, I may have to make an order to see about doing that to mine...
  14. In addition to helping Brian change out his crank pulley on Sunday (if the parts arrive in time), I'm going to be doing an oil change on Merlin. So, I thought I'd extend the offer out to anyone else that's in need of a change of lubricant as well. If you are interested, I've got the oil filter housing socket and a hex key that fits the pan drain plug. Send me a PM or email and we can set up a time. Location is in Fairfax, not far from George Mason University.
  15. Let's plan on motoring north together. There's safety in numbers!
  16. I had a Craven Speed shifter and the Craven Speed shift well in my other MINI and loved it. It was also adjustable and it came with a little wrench that was used to tighten/loosen the tension and it just moved up/down to where you wanted it. At the shortest setting, the shifter "throw" was only a couple of inches and at it's tallest setting, it was normal. I kept it around the middle. The Craven Speed won't work with the OEM shift knob so you'll have to look around for a replacement. I have two aftermarket shifters, one of them a custom and the other a group order that's pretty cool. About 5 minutes after I post this, I'll remember where they came from... Doug Whalen... It finally came to me. The custom shift knob is stainless steel and if you ever wanted to have a weapon in the car, it meets the need. It must weigh two pounds! The other is black delrin with MINI wings and the sift pattern. The SS knob is torture in the winter time as it never warms up. The Delrin knob is awesome any time of year and it's what I'm using all of the time lately.
  17. Just booked a room, get 'em while they are hot, one of the hotels is already full that weekend.

  20. It's a license plate frame with the EzPass built into it. No pics yet.
  21. There's also an option for an EZ Pass that's on the license plate frame. I just wish mine would show up soon!
  22. Headed home from dropping off the moving truck this morning and we saw a the newest PolygiMINI family in NOVA. Catalina and Geno were going the other way but they didn't recognize us in Lona's car.
  23. Haemish, you were so kind, so gentle... So Politically correct with that response.
  24. What? It doesn't talk to you? Merlin talks to me!
  25. I think all of you should get one of those and install it, especially Ali. Maybe she can get one that flashes 007 and shoots flames out of the scoop! Of course, the first gen hood scoop is functional so that'll kill the airflow to the IC...
