1. I got it all apart and the transmission is getting the new Quaife on Friday. Can anyone help over the weekend. I need help getting the transmission back in the car. Then a whole lot of work before needing help getting the sub-frame back in the car. Now if the shocks come back on time I can make the first autocross.
2. Do you still need orders? I will get a extra.
3. Thanks you all for the offer of help. I will be working in the shop Saturday. Please come over. Should be ready by 9:30. If you need directions call me. 240-205-0690
4. If you plan on using these tires all year long don't get the Bridgestone. They are summer only. The Continental and Michelin are very good. Almost as good as the autocross tires . Most people like the Mìchelin the best. It is a very good rain tire. I personally would use the 17 inch wheels. Bigger is better and wide wheels make a difference. You may be confused about the offset number. The offset is from the centerline of the wheel. All MINI wheels and just about everything else have negative offset. The 40 MM wheels have a wider track than the 48 MM wheels.
5. Thanks for the offers. I am planning for next Saturday. I will have everything ready to drop the sub frame and pull the transmission and it should not take more than two or three hours. I will need the same amount of time going back together a week or two after coming apart.
6. I am trying to get my MINI ready for autocross season and could use a little help. I need to pull the transmission to install a new limited slip and to do that you need some one to help drop and install the sub frame and drop and install the transmission. Not a bad working environment. I have a lift. Anyone like working on cars in Virginia? I live close to Fairfax County Parkway and Lee Highway.
7. Faith and I are going to Gatlinburg Saturday and John and I will be in Fontana Tuesday afternoon.
8. All signed up for the season. Hope lots of MINIs come
9. I am doing the Thursday Brewery drive to Silva again this year. Good barbeque and The Heinzelmannchen brewery. (Say that twice) There are two other brewers in Silva that we might go visit, one never knows how many breweries have popped up. We wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to expand our beer knowledge.

12. Glad to hear you are getting use to the new setup. I ran in the morning on Saturday and afternoon on Sunday. I think you must have been the reverse. Sorry we missed each other.

06 - R-50

A good friend has a really cool R-50. If you ever wanted one this car is it! It is a 2006, originally from Charlotte N.C. My friend wanted an autocross car and spared no expense. It is only him and he doesn’t do anything else. Unfortunately for him the SCCA added some cars to the class and it isn’t competitive now. His loss your potential gain. There was $25,000 spent on this car! The only thing missing are the $5,000 dollars’ worth of coil overs. They have been replaced with KW V-1s. It has all the other suspension pieces you would expect on a car like this: Bars, camber plates, Lower links. It does not have a chassis brace because it isn’t legal. It does have a brand new transmission, and was built by the service manager for Crown MINI. He is a very good autocrosser and knows what he is doing setting up cars. The engine has been tuned and a very unique cold air system added. The exhaust is all custom as well. The battery has been moved to the trunk and if you do not want the Braille racing battery we can replace it. The car has: Space blue paint with a silver roof and mirrors An aero kit front fascia Silver interior with sport seats The vinyl on the passenger side is cracking some. Sport leather wrapped steering wheel New headliner HID lights Rear spoiler currently red, but it is only tape. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will.
14. Looks like a good one. Let us know how it works.
15. I haven't used a jump box before, but I just got my monthly add from Harbor Freight (the cheap tool place). They are advertising a small (in your glove box) lithium-ion power pack for $59.99. Harbor Freight sells Chinese stuff. Some is good and some is junk. My guess would be this battery would not last as long as a expensive one, but how often do you use it? All the major battery operated tools are made in China now.
16. I knew that guy was good, but I am really impressed now. I thought MINI must have given him a car.
17. A MINI won the STX class at the SCCA Solo Nationals. Craig Wilcox beat the second place BRX by over one second. This has to be a third gen, the first and second gen are not competitive against the Toyota Subaru pair.

20. If anyone is interested in seeing some very good autocrossers, the SCCA has a national tour event this weekend at FedEx. They will be running Friday Saturday and Sunday.
21. The jeep is fast. last year there were two jeeps. The other one had a blower sticking through the hood. Hopefully he will come back this year.
22. you need to come join us. You will have a good time.
23. We will go up 270 to get to Germantown but on the way home I plan to go on the ferry.
24. All those people who have been sitting on the fence about coming out missed a great event. The course was really fun.
