We still have beer and cider. Everyone has been generous in the amount of brews they brought. We still have over a case from the Dragon Brew Swap. Haven't decided on the food, but will post shortly. Any ideas?

  3. Wish we could come. We have been in Hawaii the last two weeks and I have to pick up leafs.
  4. We are in the back yard pull all the way down the driveway
  5. My address is: 5386 Summit Drive Fairfax, VA 22030 Here are the directions from 66: If you are coming west from the beltway on 66 the next exit past route 50 is the Fairfax County Parkway route 286. There is only one exit lane off 66. Take the second exit from the exit lane. You go over the parkway and loop back. The first exit off the parkway is route 29 Lee hwy. There is only one exit. Get in the right lane and turn right on 29 at the light. You will be in a merge lane. As soon as you get in the main lanes get in the far left lane. Turn left at the first light on Summit Drive. In about 100 yards bare right at the split. We are third driveway on left. Look for driveways; you will not see the house. The second and third driveways are side by side. If you see new houses on the left you went too far.
  6. If you do not like Bratwurst we have pizza as well. We have lots of good beer.

This time we hope to have it outside weather permitting. We want to grill up some Bratwurst and whatever anyone wants to bring. What’s better than Beer and Bratts. Hopefully we can be outside around our fire pit. Bring your favorite beer to share and lets us know what you want to bring for food.

  9. You might want to consider changing the oil in the supercharger and replacing the water pump. The water pump bolts to the back of the supercharger. At the mileage on your car water pumps and superchargers start failing. The supercharger has gears on the water pump end. When the seal between where the gears are and the supercharger rotors begins to fail all the oil gets sucked out and the gears fail. Then you need a new supercharger. There are a few people who rebuild superchargers but all of it is expensive. I just changed the oil in my supercharger at 85,000. I got about half as much oil out as you are suppose to put in.
  10. We probably will not be able to be outside. Last I checked the chance of rain was 60%. Hopefully the weatherman is wrong, so please bring a chair. We have a few but not enough for everyone.
  11. You have the address, but here are some things to help. I live off of Lee Hwy Route 29 just on the Centerville side of the Fairfax County Parkway. The first light on 29 after the parkway turn Left on Summit Drive. The road will split in about 100 yards. Go to the right at the split. Turn left in the third driveway. Count driveways you will not see the house until you are in the drive. The second and third drive are side by side. If you see new houses on the left you went to far. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.

Haemish and I have our beer from the MOTD Brew Swap and we would like to invite everyone to come and enjoy the brew we collected. Please come and bring additional beer and/or cider you enjoy to share with everyone. Sample all the different beers we collected at the brew swap. We have about 50 microbrew beers! The two of us are particularly fond of hoppy beers (e.g. IPAs), but there are a number of other non-hoppy beers in the mix too. There will be some ciders too, not just beer. Bring food or order out (we will have flyers available for nearby delivery places) and enjoy some different brew.

WHERE:

Carl & Faith Bauersfeld's house

5386 Summit Drive

Fairfax, VA 22030

WHEN: Saturday, September 12 @ 3:30pm

In the first comment post below is the current list (Excel spreadsheet) of brews we have collected for the event. If you have more to bring, send the list of what you have to Haemish and I, and we will update the list. We will have print outs of the list for everyone at the event. The idea is that after tasting each beer, you can rank it according to your personal preferences... and then you know what to look for later when you are brew shopping!

  14. I am post this for someone in the BMW club. He has 4 ASA Sport Edition 16x7 1/2 with Dunlop Graspic DS-3 snows. Tires have one winter use 3k miles. Wheels are brand new. Never mounted on car. $250 for set of 4. If you are interested contact: Carnell, Nathan E. <NCarnell@fmh.org>
  15. Automatics became a option on 2005 R-53s in January of 2005. All 05 &06 R-53 automatics have paddle shifters.

I have two sets of autocross tires. Both sets have remaining life. The rear ones have a lot of life. These were the tires I used the last two years to run SCCA and BMW events. They are both 215/45/17. One set are BFGs and the other set are Dunlops.
  17. Sorry I did not see all the other post. There are lots of places to get food when you get off 81. After you leave Pigeon Forge there are several good gas stations before you get to the foothills parkway.
  18. I have driven that way a number of times. We go to Gatlinburg to see friends and I leave there to come to the Dragon. It will be longer, but a much nicer ride. I do not think it will be a lot longer however. A different route to the Dragon would be to come through Gatlinburg and over the mountain into Cherokee. Then you get on the highway that takes you to 28 and Fontana.
  19. Faith and I had a great time. Fun ride with the ferry. The bar has great beer!!! If you like beer you need to come the next time. Thank you for putting it together.
  20. I believe the stock wheel offset for all MINIs is 48 MM negative. If you look on the inside of your wheels it will be cast in. Generally wheels between 48 and 40 MM of negative offset work fine. 48 MM negative offset means the surface where the wheel bolts to the hub is 48 MM to the back side of the rim from the centerline of the wheel.
  21. Contingencies are the money MINI USA pays racers who win.
  22. I haven't done it but I understand you register with MINI USA for their contingency program and they send you the kit on how they pay contingencies. It also includes the decals and what other things they want you to do to qualify. The Dunlop's are local autocrossers who participate.
  23. My R53 has a Mynes tune. They created the software to allow you to tune your car yourself. Some people have gotten in trouble because they were over their head, and you can destroy your engine. This has generally happened when there is something wrong with the car and they continue to flog it. They will now do remote tunes. I do not know all the details but here is what I know. You have to install their software on your car, and I think you have to have a wide band oxygen sensor. Then you drive around and log what the engine is doing. The software monitors all the engine parameters and the oxygen sensor gives them the air fuel ratio. You then need to create a file and send it to them. They look at the file and send you a tune to upload into the ECU. I believe Jan does the same thing. I also know Jan usually goes to Helex once a year. If you go to the dragon there will be people there to tune your car, but Jan and Mynes are generally considered the best. I will warn you about personalities. It seems that Jan and some of his customers must consider there entire worth on his work being the absolute best. They will run down everyone else. Jan has happy customers, and Mynes has happy customers. They both have customers who are unhappy. Jan's and his customers perpetuate a ridiculous "I am the best, just ask"
  24. You will have a blast. Friendly MINI people from all over. All the roads are spectacular, but you should do the Cherohala Skyway. It is a spectacular drive along the top of several mountains. Lots of places to stop and look at the beautiful country. You can challenge yourself by coming back (or going) through the Dragon.
