There is a reply below with the 10 cars that will be in the parade While we're limited to 10 MINIs, we can have other people walking, driving cardboard MINIs, holding the banner out front.... So still RSVP to help out even if your MINI can't be in the parade Come join us in a Christmas Parade!!! The theme is A Christmas Fantasy here's the parade route https://gmchristmasparade.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/here.pdf Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted November 4, 2014 Author Report Posted November 4, 2014 We need to plan our theme. I was thinking that cabrios can have trees with lights in the back seat. We can attach cars to each other with festive garland A few rules We can't have a Santa we can't throw anything out of the cars but we can hand out candy We can't be giving promotional material from the parade Might be nice to hand out candy canes. If we have more people than cars then some people can walk along and hand out candy canes We could also do some sort of British theme to go with our MINIs Brainstorm away  Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
1975_mini Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 We could also do some sort of British theme to go with our MINIs Brainstorm away  A possible uniquely British thing is CROWNS!!!! Everyone is a king on Christmas! The paper crowns are made of tissue paper and unfold into an actual crown. Adults and children alike don the crown making it a colorful sight. The paper hat was added to the crackers in the early 1900s and the tradition has carried on. Crackers not the saltine but the twisted paper tubes. 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels
isherri Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Love the crown idea, I've got an entire collection and a crown tattoo on the back of my neck! Maybe we could dress as the Good King (or Queen) Wenceslas? Or wise men (and women)? What if we created a moving manger scene? Some cars could be animals or Mary or Joseph. We could turn Tigger into a manger and drop a baby Jesus in the back...
isherri Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 I've still got 6 yards of crushed brown velvet from my wolf suit if anyone is thinking reindeer...
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted November 4, 2014 Author Report Posted November 4, 2014 I like the crowns Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
isherri Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Crowns would be super easy. We could make them out of poster board so they'd be a little more sturdy. Each car could do a different color. All of the drivers could wear the tissue paper crowns as well! I feel like getting some Christmas crackers right now. You know, for research.

TGGRRR (Ali) Posted November 10, 2014 Author Report Posted November 10, 2014 So are we going with Crackers? If someone wants another theme speak up before we keep planning. I heard people say that they don't think anyone will get the Crackers, but if we take it over the top, who knows? Maybe they will and since when has being misunderstood stopped any of us? Lt. Dan Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 With the shape of our roofs, a giant crown would not be hard to make....
1975_mini Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 We have a good variety of Minis, only missing the illusive paceman and a coupe 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels
Poison Ivy Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I still don't get the whole crackers thing.
1975_mini Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I'm not that illusive I should have put a comma, the illusive descriptor was targeting the paceman, I have seen many more coupes in the wild then the paceman.:top: 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels
1975_mini Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I still don't get the whole crackers thing. they are a traditional xmas gift in the united kingdom, much like candy canes here. 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels

isherri Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 Are we decided on the crowns then? Should we start constructing those? I'm out of the country for Thanksgiving so I want to get started now while I've got a free weekend!
1975_mini Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 sherri, I believe that is the general connecting theme is crowns, unless someone has other ideas. Feel free to build on the idea and decorate festively. The only other idea I could come up with that was british themed was the christmas carol. not really sure how to pull that off though. For all, would we like to get together and make crackers before. I have supplies for about 100. I will be putting my minions to make a few as a test run, but if we want to get together just let me know. also crackers generally have a korny xmas joke inside, here are a few: What does Santa suffer from if he gets stuck in a chimney? Claustrophobia! Why does Santa have three gardens? So he can 'ho ho ho'! What does Miley Cyrus have at Christmas? Twerky! What do vampires sing on New Year's Eve? Auld Fang Syne Why did Santa's helper see the doctor? Because he had a low "elf" esteem! What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar? He got 25 days! What kind of motorbike does Santa ride? A Holly Davidson! What is the best Christmas present in the world? A broken drum, you just can't beat it! How did Scrooge win the football game? The ghost of Christmas passed! Who is Santa's favorite singer? Elf-is Presley! What do Santa's little helpers learn at school? The elf-abet! How did Mary and Joseph know that Jesus was 7lb 6oz when he was born? They had a weigh in a manger! I have a buch more but you get the idea:rofl: 1975 Mini 1000, 998cc A+ w/ K&N air filter, 10" Mamba wheels
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted November 20, 2014 Author Report Posted November 20, 2014 I would love to get together to work on making crackers and build ideas. I was thinking we could put some of these jobs on signs that we stick on the cars. People can read them as we go through Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
TGGRRR (Ali) Posted November 20, 2014 Author Report Posted November 20, 2014 I can also see if I can get our description updated with the theme, then the judge will read it out as we go through Tigger 2006 the cabrio and Riversong the 2014 Countryman
isherri Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Totally love the crown idea! My family always had Christmas Crackers on Christmas Eve so I love the whole concept. Also, it goes really well with my crown tattoo. I'd like to volunteer to join your merry band of minions and help out. Any chance we can do it sometime this weekend? I'm out of the country from the 26th thru the 1st.
