  1. Looks like I'll be in the market for rear pads and rotors for my R56. I've been considering the JCW 4 Piston Sport Brake Brembo upgrade when it was time to do my brakes. I'm wondering if any R53 owners would be interested in buying my R56 calipers? I understand the R56 calipers were the brakes used on the R53 for the JCW upgraded brakes. My car has 50k miles on a 2009 MCS. Price is negotiable. Any interest?
  2. Thanks to all that came out today! We had a great run and did some roads that many had never been on, plus the pizza was awesome! See you next time. :top: -Steve
  3. Hello all. Please firm up your RSVP if you can make it so I can give the restaurant a head's up. Looking forward to seeing everyone, and getting in some nice driving! Don't forget your walk-talkies and cash for the tab at the restaurant. -STEVE

  6. Oh yeah GreenCactus, I know it won't be a dramatic increase in handling, but it sure does go a long way in BLINGING out the engine bay, plus it easily adds like 20 HP just because it has the JCW logo on it!
  7. Just curious 1975_mini, is the 23 mm sway bar you used from Madness Motorworks? I saw the red sway bar and assumed as much. I also just replaced my stock rear sway bar with the Madness Motorworks 23 mm RSB and set it to the middle. My initial impression is that the whole rear end feels so much tighter and stiff. Still feeling out how the car handles in the twisties, but so far everything is WOW! Next on my list is the JCW front strut brace for the whole package, can't wait!
  8. I had my car recently checked out, and was told my Front Lower Control Arm Bushings are a bit worn, and could use replacing soon. Anyone know how to do this and would be at the DIY Tech day to assist? No idea what this would cost in labor to do, or if it's a DIY. Thanks!
  9. I'm in contact with P-Tuning and will most likely have them do the job. Dealer prices are outrageous! :stupid: (we all know that!) Gotta get my little MINI back up and running. Gotta feed that FIX!
  10. I was at MINI of Sterling yesterday for their Service Clinic. I had my water pump replaced under warranty (woo hoo!) with an aluminum version that should take care of the leakage the plastic ones are prone to. They did a great job of talking me through everything and I even had a one on one with their service tech Brian. He patiently answered all of my questions and pleasantly walked me through the ons and outs of my car's health. Turns out, my clutch is slipping, and needs to be serviced. My clutch pedal engages at about 3/4 of the way up, and they recommended I have it fixed. Unknown weather the flywheel will need to be replaced until it's opened up for service. They quoted me a rather expensive price to fix it. Does anyone know if any of our vendors can do this job, maybe P-Tuning or GT-Peace? Thanks!
  11. I'm wanting to see if there is any interest in my Borbet 16 inch Wheels w/ Michelin Winter Tires. I won't need these this winter as I will be storing the MINI in the garage for the winter. Wheels: Borbet LS, 16 x 7, 15 spoke silver painted alloy wheels. Excellent condition, NO curb rash. Tires: Michelin X-Ice, 195/55/R16. Used for 2 winters, approximately 3,000 miles. TPMS included. $400 cash. Any interest?
  12. Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour for daylight savings time! :top:
  13. These are all season tires. Still available.
  14. Sorry, I was out of town this weekend. YES! Still available.

    DC Night Run

Hey gang. Looking forward to seeing everyone that can attend tomorrow! Be sure to look for my Mellow Yellow Cooper S in the Chipotle parking lot so we can line up before getting dinner. The weather is looking good. I'll have print outs of the route for everyone if needed. Should be a good run! -STEVE

    DC Night Run

I did a dry run this afternoon and I have the route planned out. I stopped at Gravelly Point airport park at Reagan National and the park signs say the park closes from 10 pm - 6 am daily. So our first stop will be Gravelly Point airport park. There are port-a-potties there. Next stop will be the Capital building. Final stop will be at Tastee 29 Diner for a late night snack. There was some chatter about taking some photos or doing a night shoot. Sounds cool, what do you guys have in mind? Obviously there are plenty of sweet backdrops in the city! Looking forward to it!

  19. My new to me (as of this past November) 2009 MINI Cooper S has 44,000 miles on in at this date. I purchased the car as is with no warranty from MINI of Sterling. I understand the N14 engine has had issues with the timing chain. Is the timing chain issue something MINI is servicing at no cost to the customer as part of a class action lawsuit? If not, what kind of $$$ are we talking about? Also, I understand carbon build up is a normal concern for this engine. I've heard of using the Seafoam product to help clean out the build up. Can anyone recommend doing this, and at what stage of the life of the engine? Any info would be appreciated. -Steve
  20. No problem. Meet you there.
