  1. My new to me (as of this past November) 2009 MINI Cooper S has 44,000 miles on in at this date. I purchased the car as is with no warranty from MINI of Sterling. I understand the N14 engine has had issues with the timing chain. Is the timing chain issue something MINI is servicing at no cost to the customer as part of a class action lawsuit? If not, what kind of $$$ are we talking about? Also, I understand carbon build up is a normal concern for this engine. I've heard of using the Seafoam product to help clean out the build up. Can anyone recommend doing this, and at what stage of the life of the engine? Any info would be appreciated. -Steve
  2. No problem. Meet you there.
  3. Well, I'm not going to miss out on extra back roads just to save $4! Count me in! Meeting address and start time?
  4. SHADOW Looking at the map and the route, the Ferry makes the most sense on the way back to VA Since we'll be close by in Poolesville for lunch. I'm just going to roll up 270 to Starbucks in Germantown for the start. I'm starting in Herndon where I live if you want to MINI-VAN up to G-town in the morning. Let me know.
  5. Would like to go. Most likely would bring my kids. If doing a brewery, the kids and I would skip that part, just wait outside. We'd be coming from VA, and would really like to do Whites Ferry. Kids would really dig it! :top:

  7. Hello Rich. I'm interested in the NM short shifter and cover box. Still available?
  8. Denny. After doing some research, the n18 JCW intake airbox will not fit on my car. I'll be saving up for the n14 version, so thanks anyway!
  9. Denny. Definitely interested in the JCW intake. Would that work on my n14 engine since you have the n18?
  10. Hey everyone. I'm interested in some performance mods, and after reading several forums on NAM, I have some questions for any DCMM members that have tuning experience. I currently have a catback exhaust (Invidia Q300) and am looking to add a few more performance mods. There seems to be a lot of debate about the benefits of an intake on the n14 engine. It seems like a cool mod, but I understand that it doesn't add much for performance, more like a cool way to hear more noise from the BOV and to add some flair to your engine bay. Is it possible to add the JCW intake to the n14 engine? Any benefit to this? I'm ultimately looking for bang for buck, not just cool looks. Anyone have experience with the NM Engineering ECU Tuning? $500 and approx 25-30 hp gains and 30-35 ft lbs gain on stock engine seems like a better choice than an intake that just adds noise and a debatable small hp gain. Lastly, anyone have tuning experiences with our local vendors? I've heard a few folks have gone to P-Tuning in Manassass with some good experiences. Again, looking for bang for buck with a few mods. Not looking to go over the top and spend a fortune. Our MINIs are already pretty RAD! Just interested in unlocking some of the performance that is hiding in my engine bay. Thanks!
  11. Greetings. I met you a few weeks back at the Sterling Mini dealer DC Metro Minis meet and greet. I was the guy with the 2 kids and the 2009 Mellow Yellow R56. Thanks for showing me your car, which BTW was badass! I'm interested in the exhaust you are selling. Is it still available? Is this the entire Invidia q300 cat-back exhaust system for the R56? Does it include all necessary hardware and gaskets? Thanks! -Steve
