  3. Hello all, We were able to solidify some of the planning for the parade at the board meeting last evening. One of our great vendors, PTuning, has been kind enough to allow us to meet and stage vehicles that are not in the parade in their parking lot. They will have coffee and cookies available at beginning at 0730. We will be moving to the staging area at 0750, it is less than 2 miles. We must be in the staging area NLT 0830. We are still looking for a few walkers if anyone is interested in handing out candy and crackers. Also there is still an available spot if someone would like to show off their MINI. Come enjoy the morning with us. The parade begins at 10:00 and we are 23rd group to roll out (first quarter) so we should be done before noon. The parade ends only ¾ of a mile from PTuning, we will pick up walkers and return to the PTuning parking lot to unload. I will be posting an event to help prepare car decorations and assembly crackers on 30 Nov, additional information will be in that thread. Please feel free to post any questions on this thread, or feel free to PM or email me directly. Finally I need to send a description of our theme “Cracking Good Time”, below is what I have put together. I am not an English major as those of you that have read my posts can attest. Please read it over and mock any errors or if you have any rewording please let me know. I plan to submit the final draft on Wednesday. “Much like the uniquely British MINI, the Christmas cracker has been a staple of the Christmas Holiday in Britain. Developed in the Victorian area by Tom Smith as a way to package his bon-bons, they have evolved to today’s version, which contain several key components represented by the MINIs before you.”
  4. oops, sorry. i see that now. toys, got you.
  5. The spot is yours if you would like to drive, or we can put you as a walker and then you are less comitted to the event if house stuff comes up. Just let us know.:top:
  6. good for you, but which theme are you decorating your car.:rofl::rofl: Got you.
  7. Got you for jokes. I will have the kids there so there are three to hand out crackers and candy, or carry the banner. I want as many folks to be able to participate so I plan on walking while brandy drives, but I will hold off on winterizing Watson and if there are no takers I will bring him out.
  8. Sherri, Unfortunately I am pretty busy this weekend, but I will be at the board meeting on Sunday to discuss the parade event. I can bring the cracker supplies with me if you were planning on attending. All, I did some more thinking on the concept for the parade of how to tie all these cars together. I was thinking an exploded xmas cracker. The common components in a cracker are candy, a joke, a trinket (toy), and a crown. So I was thinking a front and rear MINI each with half a cracker like it had been broken open. The other MINIs between I was thinking two with a joke theme, two with a candy theme, two toy theme, and two crown themed. That would be 10 vehicles. Since Sherri has a Crown Tattoo I feel you are an expert and get to be a crown themed car. If those identified as drivers please claim a theme, by posting on here. First come first served. Cracker front: Corey Candy x2: Melissa & unstable Jokes x2: Ali & edge Trinkits (toys) x2: mbiedzinski & Ray Crown x2: Sherri Cracker rear: Brandy I have been asked to present everything to the board on Sunday for the final thumbs up. Please get your ideas or concerns posted by Saturday afternoon so I can be sure they are included.
  9. sherri, I believe that is the general connecting theme is crowns, unless someone has other ideas. Feel free to build on the idea and decorate festively. The only other idea I could come up with that was british themed was the christmas carol. not really sure how to pull that off though. For all, would we like to get together and make crackers before. I have supplies for about 100. I will be putting my minions to make a few as a test run, but if we want to get together just let me know. also crackers generally have a korny xmas joke inside, here are a few: What does Santa suffer from if he gets stuck in a chimney? Claustrophobia! Why does Santa have three gardens? So he can 'ho ho ho'! What does Miley Cyrus have at Christmas? Twerky! What do vampires sing on New Year's Eve? Auld Fang Syne Why did Santa's helper see the doctor? Because he had a low "elf" esteem! What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar? He got 25 days! What kind of motorbike does Santa ride? A Holly Davidson! What is the best Christmas present in the world? A broken drum, you just can't beat it! How did Scrooge win the football game? The ghost of Christmas passed! Who is Santa's favorite singer? Elf-is Presley! What do Santa's little helpers learn at school? The elf-abet! How did Mary and Joseph know that Jesus was 7lb 6oz when he was born? They had a weigh in a manger! I have a buch more but you get the idea:rofl:
  10. You definitely would have added to festivities, it was a fun evening. Hope you get better soon.
  11. Great run Alex and Ali too. Ali navigating is like your GPS having ADD. "At the next round about take the WEEEE!!!!!" We pulled into our hotel to find 10 to 15 Porsches in the parking lot. At breakfast I found out it is a club, all in their 60s. The tour was great lot of history and humor mixed into the story telling. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
  12. One of your stubby antennas would be perfect for the mini gift swap this year.:top:
  13. Nope, I got you beat Alex. When I got home I realized I won a 4th white me.you.mini bag!!!
  14. Catalina was grabbing some shots as we got on 395 from landmark. Craig had a gopro rear facing on helljumper he may have caught you a few time as you were coming by. You have to give Ali a pass, she will remember the name of your car first. Lol
  15. they are a traditional xmas gift in the united kingdom, much like candy canes here.
  16. I should have put a comma, the illusive descriptor was targeting the paceman, I have seen many more coupes in the wild then the paceman.:top:
  17. We have a good variety of Minis, only missing the illusive paceman and a coupe
  18. Thanks for coming out, and you already won you have a classic to motor in anything you want.:top::top:
  19. We are all parked out back
  20. You worry about your tickets, I will worry about mine. I don't plan on sharing anything I win. [emoji57]
  21. Channel your inner kid on the school bus from Forest Gump, "Seat's taken!!!"
  22. Ouch, sorry to hear:banghead:
  23. A possible uniquely British thing is CROWNS!!!! Everyone is a king on Christmas! The paper crowns are made of tissue paper and unfold into an actual crown. Adults and children alike don the crown making it a colorful sight. The paper hat was added to the crackers in the early 1900s and the tradition has carried on. Crackers not the saltine but the twisted paper tubes.
  24. I need to work on my reading comprehension skills
