  1. That's a new one for me. Maybe your MINI thinks you are always late and is trying to help
  2. yeap, every sunday:top:
  3. Brandy and I will be at kohls
  4. The first time a crawled under the suspension it was a what the hell moment rubber cones and trumpets. I tell people to thing motorcycle swing arm when describing the rear suspension. Those rubber cone mean you will knock your fillings loose on some of the roads around here. (Telegraph)
  5. Well after a few evenings of degreasing, stripping, and going through the mechanics of the suspension I painted everything yesterday, and should get it reassembled this weekend. Here are a few before and afters: Subframe degreased and stripped Painted subframe One aluminum trumpet stripped and the other still covered in under coating. Also one of the swing arms unstripped in the background. Finished swing arms Now on to the body work
  6. It would be a retro version of steph's ride.
  7. German, they were painted silver when I bought the car. I have never seen the actual metal, but guessing rashed up pretty bad otherwise why paint them silver. I guess I need to strip them and go from there.
  8. Separated the subframe from the body today, hope to get it fully stripped down and ready from paint by the end of the week. You can see the spare tire area in the trunk pan needs a patch, the rest is only surface rust that the grinding wheel will make short work of. A little soak and the bolts broke lose fairly easily, with a hand from Brandy. she is an expert at jack stand placement and grabbing tools. Especially when I break the subframe loose from the body and forget the disconnect the battery cable and I am stuck holding it will the cutting wheel is on the other side of the garage. I will be stripping the subframe down, not sure if I am going to leave the brake system might plum to the receiver. I know it would be over kill but its already there why not use it:questionmark:
  9. I was going to do that, but your photoshop skills are much stronger. I know you have a lot of projects on your plate, but not going to say no if you have some free time.
  10. Nice I did the wifey's wheel matte black the other weekend.:top:
  11. Welcome, and look forward to meeting at an event soon. Haemish, gen 1 collector's items. Aren't we jumping the gun a bit, how about we wait it they qualify for classic plates first. Just messing with you. Might be in the market for one myself when I get back:top:
  12. Chris, Thanks I do like classic. I have been trying to dig up a set of the steel rims with moon hub caps it came with and those were painted white. I hope to find a set soon as I am a bit of a purest at heart. Since these are someone after market rims I figured spice them out a bit. PD is a good test run that's how I tested a white Union Jack roof. Might just use these rims as the demo at the PD party in June. I got lucky for matching the paint. It is wind jammer blue a Range Rover color from the early 2000s. I found a company that does user selected paint codes in rattle can. I ordered from the when I stripped and re sprayed the engine compartment and was impressed with the result. Still have a spare can. Thanks again for the input.

  14. Hey all, Not truly a MINI event, but Brandy and I are doing the Mini Run Amuck here on Quantico on June 13th. If anyone would like to join us come on out. We are done the shorter 2 mile course and registered from the 11:00 start time. Brandy say we will be going at a nice jog, so don't feel you have to be a 6 minute mile person to join us. Its more about mud and obstacles. There is a longer 4 mile course for those wanting a bigger challenge. Whether you would like to join us or do it on your own, our house is only a mile and a half from the start/finish line so all are welcome to park at our place and use our showers prior to getting back in your MINI:top: Here is the link for more info, hope to see some of you there. http://www.marinemarathon.com/MCM_Event_Series/Run_Amuck.htm

  20. I am looking the change up Watson's wheels I am going to paint them and having trouble deciding the look to go with. I have three possible patterns. 1) white 2) white spokes with blue rim (body matching) 3) blue spokes (body matching with white rim 4) open to ideas Here is an up close of the wheel in question 10" mambas and also a photo of watson so you know the blue I am taking about. Thanks for your input.
  21. Hey all, I have finally had some free time to get out in the garage and work on some projects. First I now know that have a rusty classic mini has the scrap value equal to a 6 pack or premium beer or a case of Natty light. After a few hours with the poly carbide wheel in the angle grinder I now have a true idea as to the shape of the body. Not as quick and nowhere close to as clean a project as wheeler dealer makes it look. The only major surprise i found was a decent ding in the left rear. the bottom picture is the inch and a half think clunk of filler someone used to fill it in. I also cut out the seat back giving now you can see a better idea as to the storage size that will be in the trailer. Hope to weld in the front soon. should have another update soon.
  22. great photos, thanks for sharing.
  23. Sorry to hear that, I have a feeling you are going to have to do OEM.
