  1. I'm sorry you did all the work involved and had to cancel. Thanks for everything you did to try and make it happen
  2. Katie I think the ambulance is actually longer and they usually send a helicopter. But if the accident is on the Dragon itself they have to get the person to the turn around where the helicopter can land. I was reading this somewhere on Killboy's pictures when there was a bike accident. You make a great point about the brakes.
  3. I can't wait to see what Coop comes up with
  4. So we always start this thread up each year as we have new people that don't know what to expect. I'm sure others will add on to this. But a few things to remember while you're having the time of your life in your MINI. STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD Stick between the mustard and the mayo don't cross the yellow line!! :motor: That's rule 1, 2 and 3 and it can save your life. This is a public road and it's unpredictable, there are many blind turns and you need to stay within your driving ability so that you can always stay on your side of the line and react if you need to. Check your tires and tire pressure. Before you leave have your MINI checked out because you don't want to get there and find a safety issue. It's happened before. Don't push yourself, stay within your ability. If you want to go slow, it's OK. Let people pass, there are turn outs. You don't have to drive as fast as you think the guy behind you would like you to go. When I go with a group I usually take the back, last car if I can get it. I actually find I prefer the Dragon at a more reasonable speed. There are a ton of other fun roads out there besides the Dragon. Hellbender is a huge favorite and it's on the way to the Dragon from Fontana. It's faster with sweeping turns and the occasional gotcha thrown in. In the years I've gone most of the MINI wrecks were on Hellbender or a road other then the Dragon. Before you ride the Dragon, go to Deals gap and look at the Tree of Shame. It's sobering. Then relax, have fun and remember Stay on your side of the road, let faster people pass I'm so excited to go again
  5. Says the Lotus guy
  6. On the way down we're staying in Asheville one night like we always do. I'm excited, this year we have a swanky hotel right in town http://www.ashevillehotellodgingdowntown.com/HotelIndigo/index.html I LOVE Swanky!!!
  7. I think subconsciously she's asking for an orange MINI with flames. Look at that image!
  8. Good luck Melissa I can't make the event, but I hit the link and made a donation Hope you make your goal
  9. You really should organize the next photo shoot. I'll be happy to help. None of those locations are very far. I found last year that you don't want a big geographical distance just because we all get excited and take lots of time at each stop. Maybe if we did the Woodbridge, Springfield, Ft Belvoir areas which are all pretty close. Set it up Mike!!!!
  10. You guys got some great shots. Where were they taken?
  11. I don't know, but I thought that only people with bikes stay there. They are a motorcycle resort. I would guess if they are available to us, they will fill up quickly
  12. This is how I felt when you all were going to MTTS
  13. I'm sorry Bert hopefully next year!!!
  14. If you signed up I see that the event is full If you did not already get a time from me, please let me know the date you chose and the time you want. I'll get you scheduled
  15. BINGO ROCKS!!!!! I never went before last year and loved it
  16. I will, but you have to coach me again
  17. Mark and I are registered. He's signed up for the Brew swap and I am for Bingo. I did Bingo for the first time last year and loved it!!! Of course Celia kept me in line the whole time and made sure I knew the rules and didn't miss anything. It was like having a Bingo Sherpa :top:
  18. Tyler are you bringing both cars?
  19. That actually does give you some pull :top:
  20. Orange would be good! Maybe some flames? :top::top:
  21. We have a guy that does all of our shirt designs. He actually does pretty much every clubs MINI designs. The bigger issue is getting enough people, invoicing everyone, then getting the shirts to people. But we usually try to come up with some sort of idea for the design then give those ideas to Coop. He's the same guy that did the other designs for MOTD. Last year was the 10 year anniversary, we put Katie's MINI on the shirts since she is the only club member to have made every single Dragon trip. I vote for an Orange MINI this year
  22. Registration for the paid stuff isn't open yet
