  1. I was pretty sure there would be some interest in this. I hope we can manage a successful drive!!!
  2. I am not going to the karting, but if anyone is doing both, please take food for Melissa to me This is such a worthy cause to help people keep their pets and keep the pets out of the shelters which are already so over crowded.
  3. Would people be interested in bringing stuff for a dog food drive? I can deliver. Here's what I just got from the Humane society. They're a great group and trying to help people keep their dogs through this program... Bring anything to the dinner and I'll take it all and deliver it. Ali The HSFC pet food pantry, Ani-Meals, is running very low. Ani-Meals provides an important service by dispensing pet food, supplies and treats to community members who may be experiencing economic challenges. If you can donate cans or bags of dog or cat food or even cat litter, please do!!!! Round up some neighbors and donate as a group - this is also an excellent "drive" project for student volunteers. We offer this service to the community as it allows people to keep their pets with them as an option to surrender to an already burdened shelter system, even when they have fallen on hard times financially. Donations can be made to the main office, 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax VA. Thank you for your support! Humane Society of Fairfax County, Inc.
  4. I had Tigger Dynoed last year and haven't done that much to him since then. It's fun and all, just not ready
  5. Everything at Fontana Village is booked. Tapoca is not far, I don't know if it's booked. I think the Microtel is booked. I remember last year some people were able to stay around Bryson City when some things really booked up. It is a lot of fun. Those of us repeats actually book our cabins before we leave each year. However, if you go to Motoring Alliance and register for their forums, you can watch the thread for rooms. That's usually the best place. Rooms tend to open up in the last few weeks as people find out they can't go at the last minute. Good luck!!!
  6. Simply the best adventure you'll have in your MINI. I see Haemish posted the link for you. It's hard to get a place to stay, but not impossible if you really want to drive down and have some fun. Ali
  7. Welcome!! Maybe you can come to the club dinner next weekend and meet some of us. It's always a fun time. You can find details in the events forum. Ali
  8. That Craig is creative!!! I'm glad you guys got this figured out with a temporary fix
  9. Why yes you can!!!
  10. :top:
  11. This is going to be SO MUCH FUN, and I need to get some pics together for Tigger's feature in MC2 magazine so the timing is perfect :top:
  12. Thanks!
  13. I need to give them a firm number a few days before so if the maybes can confirm when they know that would be nice :top:
  14. Thanks for understanding. It seemed like it was so far in the future and then it wasn't :banghead: This will be nice too and it's not far from the original location.
  15. I have reservations at Dogfish Head Alehouse in Seven Corners (703) 534-3342 6220 Leesburg Pike Falls Church, VA We'll be in the back where they have a lot of booths and we can all sit together. This way we can do a check per booth instead of one big check. Sorry about the last minute change. I'm going to PM all of you so you know for sure.
  16. ACK!!!! I tried to make reservations and they are booked solid for the whole weekend. It's restaurant week and she said most restaurants are going to be pretty full. I should have called earlier but I was waiting a bit to see what the count would be. I'm going to try to find another location and will post it. I'm open to suggestions for restaurants in that general area.
  17. I learned that the year of snowmagedan :banghead:
  18. That sounds crazy cheap for runflats
  19. I'm sorry you did all the work involved and had to cancel. Thanks for everything you did to try and make it happen
  20. Katie I think the ambulance is actually longer and they usually send a helicopter. But if the accident is on the Dragon itself they have to get the person to the turn around where the helicopter can land. I was reading this somewhere on Killboy's pictures when there was a bike accident. You make a great point about the brakes.
  21. I can't wait to see what Coop comes up with
  22. So we always start this thread up each year as we have new people that don't know what to expect. I'm sure others will add on to this. But a few things to remember while you're having the time of your life in your MINI. STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD Stick between the mustard and the mayo don't cross the yellow line!! :motor: That's rule 1, 2 and 3 and it can save your life. This is a public road and it's unpredictable, there are many blind turns and you need to stay within your driving ability so that you can always stay on your side of the line and react if you need to. Check your tires and tire pressure. Before you leave have your MINI checked out because you don't want to get there and find a safety issue. It's happened before. Don't push yourself, stay within your ability. If you want to go slow, it's OK. Let people pass, there are turn outs. You don't have to drive as fast as you think the guy behind you would like you to go. When I go with a group I usually take the back, last car if I can get it. I actually find I prefer the Dragon at a more reasonable speed. There are a ton of other fun roads out there besides the Dragon. Hellbender is a huge favorite and it's on the way to the Dragon from Fontana. It's faster with sweeping turns and the occasional gotcha thrown in. In the years I've gone most of the MINI wrecks were on Hellbender or a road other then the Dragon. Before you ride the Dragon, go to Deals gap and look at the Tree of Shame. It's sobering. Then relax, have fun and remember Stay on your side of the road, let faster people pass I'm so excited to go again
  23. Says the Lotus guy
