Is this the little store / cafe on 50 near Aldie? If so, we could turn the new traffic circles (4!) into a mini-MINI course

I've got a set of Cobras (2 yrs old maybe) that I replaced with Motorola. If the OP wants my Cobras, they can have 'em. Might need batteries - I know they go through a charge like nobody's business, that's why I replaced them. -Jim

Laura - if you pick this up you'll need a few 'test subjects' while you get used to the power washer. I volunteer my Clubman!

How much did the puppy sell for? Sorry guys - I was a slacker. Didn't get a chance to wash the car the night before, and slept in Saturday morning. By the time I was finished washing the car, it was a -

Caravan to the Harbor, you mean? I'm heading out (solo) from Purcellville, via the Toll Road, to 495. I 'could' drive to Chantilly and -
I've gotten there around 7PM before, and there's a lot of activity. The photos posted of last week, it was primarily a classic / hot rod theme with 50's music playing. Other times, it could be 350Zs, EVOs, and others of that ilk. But you'll always see a nice spread of cars, with plenty of car enthusiasts There are plenty of restaurants in the area as well. Usually when we go, we get a bite to eat beforehand, then go 'walk it off' -Jim

I've been to a few with my Clubman. But it's hit/miss as to whether we'll make it, or how long we'll stay.

So, for the newb and/or person that stays out of the DC area when possible Is the National Harbor off I495/295? If so then this'll be my first trip across the Wilson Bridge since they started the construction on it. -Jim -

Where were you on Rt 50? On the West side of DC, there are several rock quarries (and several dump trucks). VERY easy to get rocks tossed at you. Hmmm. I wonder what it would take to enact a law requiring all vehicles that drive off-road or on non-paved roads, to stop and spot-check their tires for embedded rocks? That alone wouldn't help much, but if fines were levied - say, $100-$250 per incident, that might help a bit

If it were a weekend I'd be all over this one. Used to frequent that Starbucks - and do some mental therapy at Amazing Glaze

Insurance doesn't cover windshields? Seriously? I've used Safelite (aka Diamond, in Chantilly) in my other vehicles - my Honda Element probably got a new windshield every month for 4-5 months one year. Was about $220 per, and I only reported the first one to insurance. I never had problems when mine were installed. I watched them work (did it @work in the parking lot), no complaints. So a new windshield is over $1K at the dealer? Do they use some exotic materials? :stupid:

I'm uploading mine as I type. I won't make any gurantees as to the quality But they're there for the looking/taking. I'll edit this message with a link as soon as they're up. -Jim EDIT: http://picasaweb.google.com/jim.carman/Curves

35 into some of those curves, though, is really enjoyable And 211 has some fun curves as well. I've done the drive in RWD and FWD cars, and both taught me a bit about handling curves. It's no Tail of the Dragon, but it's closer to home

Are there any upcoming Skyline drives in the works? My fiance and I have gone over at least twice a year with other cars/groups. I searched here and at NAM and couldn't find anything in the past year or so, which seems to be odd considering the proximity to Skyline Drive from DC Thanks for any comments / ideas / thoughts!

In the Purcellville / Hamilton area, Harmony Church Rd and Dry Mill Rd offer some fun twisties and curves. Dry Mill is frequented by bicyclists and deer, so watch for those And +1 for Snickersville Turnpike.
