  3. Hey everyone! It's almost time for the DCMM post holiday party! This year, we would like to have our first ever "MINI/Mini Swap Meet". If you've been to the Dragon and seen the used parts at the Way Motorworks tent, you know what I'm talking about. Who among us doesn't have a box (or a few) in the closet and I know that there are a few among us that have a couple of sets of wheels/tires shoved under the bed - or you are using them for furniture... So, to give all of us an opportunity to see what kind of MINI/Mini related "stuff" you have that you are looking to sell or trade, here's our chance. We'll provide tables and labels so you can provide some basic information. So everyone has an idea of what kind of stuff to expect (or hope for), I'm starting this thread so you can get an idea of what kind of things there will be. Feel free to list the things you'll be bringing and if you'd like to include your asking price that'll be good so folks have an idea of how much $$$ to bring with them. I'll start my list but it'll have to be updated as I get a moment to get into the garage and start taking a look around at what I have.
  4. I have a universal tool and the MINI specific tool for this if you need. I wouldn't try anything else as you are likely to end up tearing the rubber boot around the caliper piston.
  5. I don't want to tangle this thread up too badly but this is related to the party. We know that many of us have all kinds of MINI/Mini parts around the house, taking up space - it you've ever seen my tool room, you'll understand what I'm saying... With the post holiday party coming up, we'd like to include a "MINI Swap Meet". The idea is to set up tables in the garage where you can put your extra (dare I say, excess) MINI/Mini stuff for others who may be looking for just that part. If you can't make it to the party but you have stuff to put out, get in touch, we'll take it on consignment for you - the more the merrier! No need to RSVP for this, the tables will be set out so just show up with your goodies and gadgets!
  6. The offers of help are much appreciated and trust me, we'll be reaching out. Funny though, I haven't seen anyone calling dibs on which one of the dogs they want to keep them cuddled... Yes Melissa, we'll keep reminders of the date as we cannot have you missing this again. But then, on second thought, if you do show up a day late with the bbq pork and sweet taters, I wouldn't call a party foul on it!

  9. If it'll help, I won't lock you into "one and done" so we can try a couple of places if you have ideas. If it's okay with you, Sundays work better for me as I am usually out in the middle of the woods (hunting) on Saturdays.
  10. Here's the group photo. I can put it on Google Drive if anyone would like a higher resolution/larger version.
  11. I'm trying to put together a collage of photo's that will be given to all of our vendors, Operation 2nd Chance and Kilroy's but I can't use one from the forums as they are too small and the quality suffers. Could you please take a look at your photo's and send them to me via email? it's craig@digitalvisiongallery.com Thanks everyone!
  12. You did a great job with the updates Haemish - thank you very much!
  13. I hate to bump things but I'd like to see if there's any interest in these wheels and tires. Winter time really is upon us and not only to these wheels look good on our MINIs, these are great winter tires.
  14. Beau, If you go up to page one, post #7 of this thread, you'll find the way to make a donation. Sorry to hear about the clutch problems with Alice. Brian had the same thing happen last year on a run and had to have a tow truck come pick him up.
  15. It wasn't likely that anyone really noticed but I had a couple of cameras out and about today so here's an opportunity to relive MTTB5 from the first cars arriving, right up until everyone was arriving at Kilroy's. In 4 1/2 minutes. Enjoy and you should be able to download this. If you can watch it on a television, it's shot in 720p - it'll look goooooooodddddd. MTTB5 in 4 minutes.
  16. I'd plan on at least 2 hours, possibly 3. You have to wait for the exhaust to cool so it can be handled.
  17. Erin, Bolling and Belvoir both have lifts in their auto hobby shop and the Garage Mahal is almost ready to open back up. Lona and I just finished spraying out the walls and ceiling this morning and we'll start putting stuff back up on the walls in a couple of days. With regards to the car wash bays - I don't recall the ones at Ft. Belvoir closing and the two at Henderson Hall didn't close unless they were frozen up.
  18. Really? it should last longer than that! The WiFi BP may shorten the battery life a little but but not that much for sure. I don't have any of the cases left for the HERO 2 but you can find them on Ebay pretty cheap. If you find a full case cheaper, I can make it a skeleton case for you - I've made a few of those. I just downloaded the last of the images from our drive back home - I put a GP in the truck and took one image every 30 seconds from Phoenix, AZ to here. Nearly 5,000 images and I'm going to make a time laps video with them.
  19. I think it looks just fine and if you guys are happy with it, it's awesome looking!
  20. Hey everyone, the great "closet cleanout" continues! I've got a DIMsport Genius Tuning tool that needs a good home. It's my understanding that this tool will only work with a with a 2nd Gen MINI but the exact application would need to be confirmed by Jan at RMW. Jan at RMW uses the tool to provide either custom or canned tunes and this is the device that he uses to upload/download the tune to the cars ECU. Jan's canned tunes are awesome and if you have mods, he's seen them and he can tweak that canned tune to create something that's going to take advantage of that exhaust or intercooler. I have the dyno sheets to prove that there isn't another mod around that will give the same kind of performance improvements for the price. This device HAS been "married" to a car (my R56) so it will need to be unlocked. I've been told that it would cost about $300 to have this done. So, to make sure that a potential owner gets his/her money's worth, I'm going to put this on the market place for $150 (or make me a reasonable offer, I'm a reasonable guy). Got something to trade? Let's chat!
  21. Dan at Mach V has hosted RMW tuning event a couple of times so if there's interest, I'd envourage someone to work with him. In the past, Dan discounted the dyno time and he also managed the schedule and did all of the coordination with Jan to come out for this. I won't advocate for one tuner over the other, it would be up to the group that's getting it done but I wanted to make sure you knew about previous events that worked out really well. For the 2nd Gen folks though, the newer engine/ECU hasn't been directly "cracked open" yet but if you look at one od the MTTB threads, you'll see that another vendor of ours has offerd up discount coupons for an alternate tuning device.
  22. Apples and Oranges - Tuning on 1st and 2nd Gen's is a different game. For whatever my .02 is worth though. I had an RMW custom tune on my R56 (non-JCW) with an aftermarket exhaust, CAI and FMIC and it did pretty good. I don't recall the dyno specs but I know it was nearly 220HP and torque. On my R55 (JCW), I've got a canned tune using the access port, the same FMIC (Forge) and DOS intake. Between baseline and the Stage 1 tune on the dyno, I saw almost 10% increase in HP (increased to about 225hp) and nearly double the increase in torque (over 240 lbs ft). Since the 2012's have the torque steer software, the increase in power isn't nearly as sketchy as it was in Archie.
  23. It's funny how things just "pile up"... Let me work with Sara and Tyler to make sure that they get a complete package and I'll give you the rest of it so I don't look like a little kid in front of a box of lego's... Does this fit? Nope, maybe this one...
  24. Take a look at the original post - you may not be able to resist an offer like this!
  25. The 1st Gen grill isn't as easy as the 2nd Gen... It does take longer.
