  1. I've got a barely used camera bag that needs a good home. The only reason I'm letting it go is because I've outgrown it and I have a larger version of the same bag. It's a Lowepro Slingshot 100AW bag with all of the original bits and pieces. This bag will carry a full size DSLR with room for 2 lenses or a lens and a flash in the main compartment. I also has a two zipped compartments that will hold lots of accessories and an internal compartment for your memory cards. Slingshot 100AW
  2. Forgot to add my reply to the question above. I should be able to disable that in the near future. More info to follow - whenever the postal service delivers my new cable.
  3. Short of trying to drive on a set of racing slicks or R comp tires, I doubt that most tires would have had a challenge on most of the roads today. One of my "shortcuts" is on a road that hadn't been treated or plowed and my trusty all-seasons didn't even notice. NOW, when I was in a long straight stretch and nobody was coming, I did slow down to "play" a bit and I was able to get wheel spin (love seeing that yellow triangle and the DSC come one) and when I got to the hill here by the house, I played with the anti-lock brakes a bit as well. Going to work in the morning is what I'm worried about. The temps are dropping towards the low 20's. That run off is going to start freezing and if you have anything less than studded tires or a tracked vehicle, nothing is going to help. Yeah, I have to agree, the clowns that are still driving at/above safe speeds in this kind of weather are the real threat to the rest of us.
  4. Edge, You would be correct that the issue potential for a problem "should" only involve aftermarket wheels. Of course, we all know that you would never have a problem like that because you are after all.... Mr. OEM

  7. Other than the brake fit, the only other problem usually involves putting some 1st Gen wheels on a 2nd Gen. The 1st Gen's have 12mm bolts and the 2nd Gen has 14mm bolts.
  8. Okay, I'll admit that I didn't ask that question. I was on the treadmill running up Mt. Everest (it seems like it at least) watching Top Gear when he called...
  9. I just had a call from MINI of Annapolis to let me know - so I could share with everyone - that they have three Countrymen at the dealership if you'd like to see one of them "up close and personal". I don't know about you guys but I like the commercial
  10. Just a quick reminder for the M&G this weekend. No need to RSVP.
  11. If I remember correctly, my front rotors are 12.1, I went with the Wilwood big brake kit. Everyone who I've asked has said there's not much value added to go with bigger rotors in the rear. There are a couple of kits for the front and I'm pretty sure the biggest is a little over 12". If you go that route, throw in the braided stainless brake lines. As far as autocross not being hard on brakes? ya sure wouldn't think that if you were downwind of most of the turns and the stop box. I think the biggest thing is that the track is hard on the entire car and it's contents (that's the driver) for longer periods while autocross is hard on suspension and brakes to a lesser degree since it's a shorter duration and a lower speed. With the big brake kit and higher performance pad in the rear, I get much closer to the box before I have to brake - the same concept as the track.
  12. I like the 35 and I'm looking for an 85 as well. The prime does make you work for the composition, you can't rely on the zoom to get what you want. I've been having the most "fun" with that 10-24 though! I lost my monopod last weekend (funny story that I'll have to share sometime) so I need to replace that handy little tool. I just changed the Nikon neck strap for a shoulder sling and I do like the way it shift the body to hang at my hip. No bouncing and/or punching me in other places when moving around.
  13. And the same goes here, I've got a Nikon D40x and a D5000. I've got the matching kit lens (18-55mm) lenses for each and I also have a 10-24mm, 55-210mm and a 35mm that will work on either body. I plan on making it out for the C3M event next Sunday and I'll be glad to offer up either of them for someone to to try out. I'm finding myself spending more and more of my time in "just short of manual" mode by using a shutter or aperture priority and I have even gone into manual mode a few times where I have to set both of those. It takes me back to the days of my Minolta SRT-101 and X-700 35mm SLR's!
  14. That tunnel shot is awesome! I've been thinking about getting a little shoot and go digital to put in the car. I won't leave the DSLR in the car unless I'm within sight of it... Nice job though! Oh, I can send you the info to reset that brake service light!
  15. Sparky, Attached is a list of the fuses, the number, amperage and their use. They can be pretty odd to say the least because so many of them will leave power on for up to 30 minutes after the car is turned off and you'll even wonder at times if they ever turned off because they will power up as soon as you unlock the car. If you want to ensure the device does turn off/on with the car, the cigarette lighter is a great choice. If you want to use the accessory with the ignition on but the car off, it won't work for you. Sorry I can't give you a specific fuse but I hope the schematic will help. Craig
  16. Pick a date, put it on the calendar and then, you won't schedule a massage that conflicts! You've told us about this place for a while so let's make an event!
  17. Thanks for coming out tonight! I'm sure it's going to take a while for Laura to recover from the "meat parade" that we had for dinner tonight so next month, we need to go "healthy". Soooo, can someone pick a date and a place and put it on the calendar
  18. What about a fruit cake with gummy bears instead of that candied fruit crap? That way, Laura can eat the bears! Okay, we can all eat the bears!
  19. Dinner is still on for this evening for those who can make it. Dan - Happy Hanukkah. There will be more events like this and I'll be happy to take names of places for us to meet up. We do need to find a place for the pure "Herbivores" in the g
  20. I haven't seen anything that says you MUST change the rotors when you change the pads - as long as the rotors aren't warped and they are still within "spec". When I put the Wilwood kit on the front of the car, I also put a set of Hawk HPS + pads on the rear and I certainly don't regret that decision. Autocross is hard on brakes but I don't have any problems with brake fade and when I ask it to stop, it responds even after 5-6 heats. So far, great performance and much lower brake dust so it's a win/win situation. The price is pretty good too so it was an easy choice for me. When it's wet out and the brakes are soaked and cold, I will put some pressure on the brake pedal to warm the rotors and pads and run off some of the water but even then, they still inspire confidence. Sorry, can't offer any suggestions on rotors but if you can find some that are reasonable and slotted, I'd go for them - that's what I'll be putting on the rear when it's time to change them out. Don't forget to look up the instructions for resetting the brake service indicator when you do the swap, otherwise, the OBC will be telling you to get the car in for brake service.
  21. Don't know, text me when you are done. Drop me a PM with some places that have a menu that'll get the job done for everyone.
  22. Yeah, the cold has slowed down the process and I still have a couple of small water bubbles but they are smaller and smaller each day. I think they will be gone by Tuesday. Higher temps allow the water vapor to pass through the film and the film clears up, the lower temps don't let it through as easily. As far as the dust or other particles, I would suggest giving it a couple of days to see if the areas clears up and if not, give Carlos a call. I'm willing to be he will take care of it to your satisfaction.
  23. Paint 'em in the basement! Just build a small "paint booth" and do one or two at a time. You can get a huge sheet of plastic drop cloth at Home depot for almost nothing, warm the room up and spray away baby! I had to do that last year with some of my plasti-dip stuff!
  24. I took it. Painless and if it helps students, it's all good. Survey Monkey is a reputable website, I actually use it from work to do surveys for various things.
  25. If anyone else needs an endorsement for Carlos at Solar Solutions, the guy gets 5 stars. Although I hadn't planned on spending the day with him today, I wasn't in a hurry so I took the last spot instead of the first. I believe everyone was happy with the work they had done as well as the cost. If a few people are interested in getting tinting done, give Carlos a call. He told me today that if a group comes up, he'll give the same discount which I believe was $100 or $120.
