1. The big guy hit all of the high points as far as scheduling challenges. If anyone has ideas for a place, please feel free to send me the info and I'll post it. I enjoy opportunities for club members to get together and hang out for a little while like this and so far, all of the events have been fun. Tara Thai (Falls Church) is where I'm leaning for the next event. If anyone has an idea, let me know as I'll post another event by this weekend.
 2. I'll bring mine. I think it's about 400 watts. It goes directly to the battery because the cigarette lighter doesn't have enough amperage and it'll just blow the fuse. I use it when I'm doing vinyl work and I run the heat gun from it.... I guess I'm the geeky one!
 3. Just wondering if the the Government is going to run out of money on Friday and send us all home.
 4. Some peoples kids..... Nice turnout last night, glad all of you could make it. The March dinner will be posted soon but I'll wait until Friday to 1) see if I still have a job and 2) see if anyone else would like to figure out where to go for March.... Thanks everyone!
 5. Looking forward to seeing you again Chris, it's been too long!
 6. It'll be good to see folks Saturday evening! We've got a couple of new members who might be there so it's a great chance to get together! Ricky - their rush starts around and it's harder to get reservations earlier. I'll see if I can schedule the next event a little later. It's almost time to start planning lunch with a little run afterward!
 7. That's the ones that I have and no problems with bulb warnings. I haven't tried LEDs anywhere else externally but all of my interior lights are LED (Blue). I've also got a pair of UV LED bulbs that I put in the map lights sometimes.... Helps me find the lint in the car.
 8. I like those side scuttles! Take a look at my turn indicators and I think you'll agree that they would be awesome in those scuttles!
 9. Since we'll be there instead of over in Robbinsville, count us in too!
 10. North American Motoring (NAM) usually has a thread for the same kind of info. It wouldn't hurt to check and then watch both.
 11.
Hey DCMM! One of our vendors, Mach V (fastmini.net) is hosting an open house just a few minutes drive from our Meet and Greet at MINI of Sterling! :top:

Mach V Spring Open House 2011 will happen on Saturday, March 19, 2011, 10am to 4pm. Come on down and hang out with other car enthusiasts. With any luck, it'll be a gorgeous spring day, but the event will happen rain or shine.

We'll have Open House sale specials, door prizes and other goodies to give away, Paintless Dent Repair on-site, burgers and dogs on the grill, and some more cool stuff I haven't fully worked out. I promise, it'll be a good time.

 13. I think Lona accomplished a first for tagging a fellow MINI owner yesterday! As we left the Sheetz in Haymarket and were getting on Hwy 29, I spied an Astro Black 1st Gen with a really cool offset yellow stripe front to rear. VA Plates "JCWORX". We waved at the guy as we went by him and he jumped onto the end of our little MINI train. After about 30 miles, we pulled off to say hello but he kept on going. After that, he pulled up alongside us in the right lane and Lona and he rolled down their windows and Lona passed him a DCMM card. They turned off shortly afterward. It was a nice looking car, hope to hear from them soon!
 14. GiGi, I am going to have to find you for sure! I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper and I've got one place where I can get the throwback Dr. Pepper. Wow, now I really can't wait to get to the Dragon!
 15. Okay, who's up for a road trip on Monday? I'm starting a new thread under events planning and feelers so I can run a little poll.
 16. Laura - I'll order some Bear Pepper spray for you and Ali will find you some bear bells. We'll take care of you!
 17. No phone! Oh, I may have to reconsider this then! How can we be without a phone for the entire week! Oh my!
 18. Now THAT is "news you can use"! Thank you Mark, I'll be packing the tupperware!
 19. Katie - what if we have a handout with directions and provide addresses since almost everyone in the group has a GPS in the car or phone (I said ALMOST, not everyone). That way, we can all leave from the same place and head in the same "general" direction with a goal of staying "kind of close" as a group? I would really like to see Cherohala this year so you can count me in to help organize.
 20. I'm still waiting on Scavenger to stop teasing about a run down to the Crutchfield store! I'll PM you Jason.
 21. Brian - Phil will be sending me the A/C events so I can post them, they'll go up quick. If there's anyone else thinking about going to this, I can't recommend it enough even if you don't ever plan on taking your car out to Autocross. You'll learn the dynamics of handling and you'll have an opportunity to drive your car in a controlled environment and see just how well they really can handle. Unless you are in some kind of really, really crazy situation, you'll NEVER drive your car on the road the way you will at this course (and in autocross) but you WILL learn what it feels and sounds like and that will make you a better/more confident driver when you leave the world of orange cones... For those worried about damaging your cars or wearing out tires, the likely hood of hurting the car is practically zero (things do happen so it's not totally zero) and, as for the tires, I've put 20,000 miles on my current tires and I did 8 autocross events, the dragon and the autocross school and the tires are still on the car and legal. If one day in autocross school destroys your tires, be thankful that it happened at 25mph in a parking lot and not at 75mph on the Beltway... It's a great time, money well spent!

This school is designed for novices. NCC members and non-members are invited to attend.

Autocross is a safe, low-speed motorsport where competitors drive against the clock to turn in the best times as they navigate a driving course defined by orange parking cones in a large, open lot. The Autocross School is the best way for new and budding autocross participants to learn more about autocross and improve their driving performance through a combination of classroom education and in-car instruction by some of the best instructors in the Washington DC area. Come join us at the Bowie Baysox Stadium for a fun and educational day filled with safe but adrenaline raising motorsport.

Classroom sessions will include a variety of topics to help novice participants better understand what goes on in a day of autocross, and what they will likely be seeing and hearing around them as they participate in the motorsport. Instruction on how to prepare both the car and driver for autocross, how to register, tech inspect, work a course, and safety topics will get you up to speed with the day-of operations for participating in autocross. Then, drivers will learn how to make the most of their runs by examining techniques like walking the course to determine good run lines, throttle modulation (your gas pedal is not an on-off switch!), and when to brake. Classroom discussions will also cover basic handling conditions such as 'oversteer' and 'understeer' you may have heard of, and how to correct them, and try to prevent these issues to give you your best runs.

When not in classroom sessions, it's time to put all of your newfound knowledge to work. Get ready to buckle up and drive, as you will get run after run to put your training and skills to the test with a series of handling and stopping challenges as you gear up to run a full autocross course. With one of our excellent instructors at your side, you will continue to receive guidance to improve your performance and lower your lap times. As you learn how to pick your turn-in points, choose your braking zones and work the throttle wisely, you will notice a consistent improvement in how your car handles confidently and smartly through the sea of cones.

There is no better way to get started in autocross than with the NCC Autocross School. Whether you've done a few events in the past, or if you've never been out to a course before, you'll find the program educational and the skills you learn useful not just on the autocross course, but for all of the driving you do. Our staff is ready to answer any questions you will have and will ensure you get personalized attention and instruction to overcome any concerns or issues. We are ready to introduce you to the fast and fun world of autocross, are you ready to join?
