  1. I can't believe we did that. :stupid:
  2. I'd like to say I would've waved back anyway, but I was probably annoyed with traffic and not paying attention to drivers. I cut through that lot almost every morning to avoid the people who are going across 7, instead of turning right like I do. I'll keep my eye out for you, though!
  3. Correct. I updated the event details to make that more clear.
  4. I am reasonably sure they mean DCMM and C3M. :top:
  5. Anyone interested in caravaning from VA? I'm planning on heading out around 4pm from Falls Church.
  6. A lot of us (including me) have used Solar Solutions in the past, but he closed for awhile. I believe someone said he's doing mobile tinting now, but I'm not sure.
  7. You can often find it in rural/midwestern gas stations. We always called it "gas station chicken". As disturbing as it sounds, it's really good!!
  8. He's here! He's REDMINI on here, too. His name is Robert.
  9. Dinner suggestion: Tara Thai - It's not far from the nail salon and they're a vendor!
  10. I think they work *with* MINI, but they aren't the same. Also, their prices are insanely high!! Check out these places: www.cooperflags.com www.mightystripes.com
  11. I know. Can't we just declare tomorrow as autocross day, not go to work and set up our own course?
  12. This is a little off topic, but I'm missing my pen that I was using on Saturday. It's a silver (chrome) and black MINI pen with green ink. If anyone happened to accidently pick it up, I would be very grateful for it's return!
  13. I autocross with RFTs and so does Haemish.
  14. I did!! I used the G2 caliper paint. You can buy it from Mach V, but I bought it directly from G2's website. They have about 10 colors that are "stock" or you can get any color you want custom made. You just send them the paint code. It's $40 for the regular stuff and $100 for the custom. The kit includes everything you need. It was pretty easy, but you have to be patient with it. The hardest part was cleaning the brakes. I did it with the brakes still on the car (this is how the instructions are written), but if I did it again, I would probably take them off so I could thoroughly clean them. You also can't drive the car for 24 hours while the paint cures. I borrowed Craig's garage to both do the project and let Cricket hang out overnight. My apartment complex would've had a fit about a car being left on jack stands over night.
  15. I actually do keep that in mind. I had a bunch of clues I wanted to use, but didn't because there was an air show at Andrews AFB. It would be a big mess if it was one of the weekends where there was a marathon or something.
  16. I used a Magic Eraser on my white wheels and I no longer had brake dust, but it definitely damaged my clear coat. I got them repainted and switched to ceramic brake pads.
  17. Here are the full results: Living on the Edge - 48 points Team McVeay - 47 points Team Corvette - 45 points MINIBEE - 41 points Dead Broken Camera - 36 points Clubby - 34 points Gotta Beat Haemish - 33 points Newlyweds - 25 points B & J - 22 points BB Coopers - 20 points The exact amount raised was $418. Thanks to everyone who participated/donated!! I'm really sorry we were outside at Public House. There was some miscommunication between the staff and the owner. They really should not have taken our reservation for the same time as a soccer game. The format of 1 point per clue made the scoring MUCH faster than the past two years. Is this a format you like or did you prefer the clues being worth different points depending on their difficulty/location?
  18. For the brake dust, Sonax (order online) or Simple Green. If you want to try the Sonax, I have some you can use. One the wheels are clean and dry, spray them with Armor All Wheel Protectant. It really helps repel the dust and makes cleaning them the next time much easier.
  19. The winners are: 1st: "Living on the Edge" (Haemish and Jen) 2nd: "Team McVeay" (Craig and Lona) 3rd: "Team Corvette" (Melissa-WahooShoe's- parents) We also raised approximately $500 for the Wildlife Rescue League! Thank you to everyone who participated and/or donated!!
  20. "Excuse me, I think your car is on fire."
  21. You can buy replacement lug nuts! www.radusadirect.com
  22. I've had a couple of people pay the $15 via Paypal already. If anyone else would like to do that, please send the payment to payments@dcmetrominis.org and make sure you say that it's for the scavenger hunt. It's ok to pay tomorrow, too. Cash or credit card (Visa or Mastercard only), though.
  23. Since most of us have caught ourselves waving at MINIs when either driving other cars or walking, if you see someone waving to you in a non-MINI, do YOU wave back? I would, but I don't think it's happened to me. My mom always waves at MINIs and she doesn't have one (yet). She said she's gotten waves once in awhile, but most of the time people just look at her like she's crazy.
