  1. I'm selling my cargo/pet liner. I've only used it a few times, so it's pretty clean. I do not have the storage bag it came with. According to Out Motoring, it will fit 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen hatches. It will not fit the Clubman, Countryman or the 3rd gen 4-door.

    $100

  2. Weird how DC proper seems to have the highest density of MINIs, but the lowest of MINIacs. I wave at the multitudes here whenever I can, but no responders :(

When I lived in DC there were at least a dozen MINIs within a one block radius of me. I only knew ONE of the owners. The rest just didn't care. I guess they were just commuter cars to them. :(

  3. Detroit Tuned carries a compact spare that will fit over most brakes.

Michael and I have both switched from run-flats to regular tires, but no spare. We both carry plug kits and a compressor. This won't help if you completely blow out a tire, but run-flats won't help with that either. (I hit a pot hole last winter and blew out the sidewall on my winter run-flats).

    I hope this helps!

  4. Saw you again this morning...don't let the slickness fool you. I'm still living on borrowed time with that fuel pump lol

And again today... and a day last week...

I drive that route every morning between 7:00-7:30, so if the fuel pump gives up, you won't have to wait alone for a tow. :frown:

  5. Wow, way to go MINI :banghead:

    EDIT: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/how-to/273872-diy-hpfp-replacement-how-to-replace-high-pressure-fuel-pump-on-mini-cooper-r56-jcw.html

Is this the same part?? $199 from ECS, I'm assuming there is more to this or something different, that's a long way off from $1200.

Click the link to ECS. That's an old thread. The part is now $1111.50. That's really not cool of MINI to jack up the prices like that. :frown:

  6. No worries...I was not expecting you to get involved. But I do appreciate the help :top:

I talked to Kristen today. The pump I replaced less than two years ago was done so under warranty. Apparently the 2 year unlimited warranty only applies to parts paid out-of-pocket and does not apply to parts originally replaced under warranty. Does this ring a bell to you?

Knowing car manufacturers, this sounds right lol

Cricket has had a lot of parts replaced under the parts warranty that were originally replaced under the factory warranty. I think you should talk to someone other than Kristen. :(

  7. I'm pretty frustrated. I had the HPFP replaced at 45k and the replacement is going bad at 86K. Do these things really only last 40k? So far I've been quoted no less than 1,200 for the part alone. On top of that, I have a upper radiator hose that's supposedly leaking and leaking oil filter housing seals. We are taking about 2,500 in additional repairs after just spending 500 to fixing an earlier oil leak. Any help anyone can offer with sourcing parts or finding a reliable mechanic who isn't going to feed me a bunch of bull. I have to take care of the fuel pump soon, obviously...I'm just not sure where to start.

Cricket's replacement HPFP failed a few weeks ago. I'm well out of the warranty, so I had to pay out of pocket. Ptuning did a great job and I definitely didn't pay $1200 for the part, though it was looking like I might have to.

There are couple of people on the various MINI Parts Buy/Sell Facebook pages that are parting out cars, so maybe that could work? Also, try Way Motor Works or Detroit Tuned. They may have a source that's less expensive.

  8. Let's raise this thread from the grave...:saint:

Cabrio's and car washes. Am I going to wreck the top if I take it though an Embasy Autowash? It isn't touchless.

Cabrios cannot go through car washes. I wouldn't even take it through a touchless.

I should add that I don't take cars through car washes (except a touchless when I'm really desperate). They just do too much damage. :frown:

  9. Good evening all,

Due to the expected snow for Saturday, we will move the Post Holiday Party to 1/30/2016 (hopefully the weather will cooperate for that weekend)

I apologize for any inconvenience, but better safe than sorry

Good call! Thank you for rescheduling and not just cancelling. :)

Have I mentioned how much I HATE winter?!?!!?? :hissy::motz::ridinghorse:

  10. Did you find what wrong with your car?

Just got mine back. The supercharger intake tube was broken. The car is alive.

Not yet. She's still at Ptuning. They haven't figured it out yet, though they suspect it might be the HPFP. That will really suck, because I'm well out of the warranty.

However, assuming it IS the HPFP.... MINI extended the warranty on them to 10years/100k. Cricket has a 128k, but the HPFP was replaced under the original warranty in 2011 at 55k. Is there a case to get MINI to replace it again? I have no confidence in the dealerships anymore. All of the good people have left.

  11. I had mine replaced in 2011 or 2012. (Cricket is a 2007) I could get her started, but it was hard and it didn't sound like that. You went to the right place, if it is the HPFP, there's an extended warranty on it. Hopefully that's the issue and you'll be good to go!

  12. You do not need to do the walnut blasting to clean carbon anymore. CRC has a product that cleans the carbon of the back of the valves. It isn't easy to use on a direct injection engine because you need to introduce it into the manifold, but it is much easier than disassembling everything to walnut blast.

Thank you! That's great to know. I'll be sure to mention it to Ptuning!

  13. Cricket has been having some issues lately. She won't start the first few tries, then the idle is really rough. It evens out in a couple of minutes. The check engine light comes on and the code shows misfires. We've replaced the spark plugs and the coils. She ran fine all week, until this morning. Same issue and same codes saying misfires (cylinders 1, 3 and random). Any thoughts? I really hate to take her to the dealership.
