    2024 Bear Chase May 19

  3. We are fine with that time, but are flexible as well.
  4. I used to have a 2004 Mini Cooper JCW MC40 and have some parts that I would like to donate (used Supercharger, aftermarket LED lights, hoses, etc.). I'm getting ready to move out of the area and would rather not pack them up. Is there a way that I can donate them to the DC Metro Minis?
  5. Calling all DCMM MTTS participants: Because this event is so far away from home, we are planning to do some driving together as a club, and just general all around looking out for each other out there in the great wide west Beth (Nutty) suggested that we a have a Zoom call to discuss logistics, I'd like to shoot for Sunday June 2nd at 7:00 for the call, but am flexible
  6. Well thanks! It amuses me that the one reply I get to my quest for Mini is from a guy who prolly knows who and what Alec Issigonis did.... Although I worked on BMC/Leyland Minis, including a '67 1275 Cooper S, I never had one. I did have a four speed Austin America, a genuine US spec car with the sloppy Hydrolastic suspension and skinny bias ply tires. Paid $50 for it, threw a set of good used tires on it and an exhaust....one piece, front to back, $22 at that time. I drove it for a couple years, did nothing to it other than change the oil. Sold it when the clutch went out to a Mini freak for $400 as it sat. Full synchro box! Anyway.... I am by vocation a British car guy. LOL! Right now it's kind of a race to see if I'm gonna get my '06 Cooper S or the '72 MGB on the road again first. Both have been off the road for about four years. And if that mix isn't peculiar enough for ya, I also have an '07 X3. Well, and the truck. It's the truck. Later.
  7. Yesterday
  8. Original Mini cross-members for roof rails and an Inno Advanced Car Rack "Ridge" 9 cu. ft. silver cargo box. Fits nicely on my 2016 Clubman. Cargo box exterior 55.1"LX27.6"Wx13.4"H. Cross-members and cargo box both lock.
  9. The Moonshiner road was new to us this year. Great road, especially on a clean run as we had on the way out. I agree, Corey, that the pavers who did that road were giving a master class. We also dropped by the Dragon City bbq 'bar' on Saturday for lunch. That is a very pleasant place with outdoor seating, live music, and bbq piled on mist anything. (We tried Fritos!)

  11. Welcome, we are happy to have you. There is likely a decent repository of gen1 knowledge in our forums that may be helpful. I feel you Gen2 pains as I am a glutton with a JCW coupe with the N14 motor. hope we can answer a few of you questions and if it is something you don’t want to wrench. I know of one good mechanic I can recommend up that way
  12. The family and I are planning to meet y'all at Bear Chase.
  13. Sorry to miss this one, we'll be in Florida celebrating my Pop's 80th birthday, see everyone at the next one

  15. Hey there... I'm a 68yo car freak that has reluctantly been expected to repair, maintain, and overhaul some Minis. It's not going all that well 'cause for some perverse reason, here in South-Central Pnnsylvania there's a real dearth of Mini folks who work on and/or have any knowledge about the silly things. So I have more experience with taking the engine in and out and taking the head on and off of a '09 Gen 2 Just-A than I ever wanted. I have managed to accumulate an '06 Cooper S hatchback with the paddle shift on the steering wheel, 17 inch wheels and what appears to be a horde of upmarket options. Of course, it has a bad engine. AND!!!!! Of course, this sucker bears little to no similarity to the Gen 2 car I am now so familiar with. Sigh..... So anyway..... I was told, y'all have some enthusiasts who are also sideline wrenchers and/or knowledge bases as it seems like Mini owners don't have a lot of resources, or at least that I've run into. Hence my seeking you out. I will have, and already do have questions. I live and work in/near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, so albeit not truly local, it's well within the realm of day trips to come to events and seek assistance. TIA, and am looking forward to engaging. Jeb Boyd relevant caveat: I have worked on cars manufactured all over the planet so I am way more qualified than most to understand the depth and breadth of *** I know nothing about. Hence my assigning myself the moniker of "Reluctant Knowledge Sponge". I soak up info 'cause I want to know how to fix stuff right.
  16. How was everyone's dragon experience this year. - Did you find any new runs that are a must for folks next year? - What are your favorite roads in the area?
  17. Brandy and I will be there, great beer and a great view
  18. NOTE: We have changed this to an OPEN run

I added the gpx file as well. Hope to see you then. ************** HSB SR to Bear Chase_.gpx RSVP on the event here:
  20. We have arrived! Made it before sundown
  21. My 2019 sustained front end damage after hitting deer carcass on Western KY road at night. Below front bumper work needed and minor driver front fender will need attention. Mini fully drive able and all lights work. Appreciate recommendations.
  22. Jill arrives at 5:09pm from Dulles via Denver.
  23. 2nd the small cooler idea -- especially if you are staying in hotels that include breakfast .. too much food between hotel breakfast and MINI R&R breakfast, so nice to have the cooler for the spares .. Likewise on the radios - could have done without them, but they will take up space regardless because wouldn't want to not have them. Blanket vs chairs for any outdoor seating option is personal preference. Fingers crossed the driving app has been improved .. surely with the technology we have these days ...
  24. Welcome! We're happy to have you and hope to see you out there on the road. The best items I had for my first MTTS in 2022 were: -My purple waffle seat cushion (I have old bones ) -Driving gloves -Gel squeeze ball (Also for the hands) -Small cooler for snacks & a cold drinks For 2024 I'm going to add: -Paper maps -Smart water to help with the elevation changes -Making sure I pick up the paper route sheet at each morning's rally because I found the MINI MTTS driving App hard to follow and would like to have a backup Brought on 2022 but only used once: Outdoor chairs and my radio (I'll definitely bring my radio on MTTS24 for safety)
  25. I am flying out to ABQ on the 12th also from BWI. Spending the extra $ to fly non-stop arriving at 3pm. Jill? There are 2 dedicated FB pages to the event - including one for "newbies" and there are lots of questions, answers, and lists I will say that every time I have gone (this will be 7th) I have packed entirely too much stuff ..
  26. We’ll also be doing the entire route of MTTS this summer. Hopefully, we’ll see you at one of our local drives in the near future!
  27. We are heading to Albuquerque from Fairfax Co & returning from Seattle as well. We’ll need to connect. I can’t think of anything other than to get radios of you don’t already have them. There’s also a good chance you’ll be traveling through areas without cell coverage.
